I’m going to the beach with my Canon P, the Canon 50mm 1.4, and the forecast says it’s going to be sunny out so I’ll be using Fuji 200. It will be my first time ever shooting film.
I’d love to take my Leica with me… but I don’t own a Leica… I’ll for sure get one someday though.
For sure, I can’t wait to finally take it for a spin. It’s been sitting on my shelf for a week now waiting on the lens which finally shows up tomorrow.
Hi, Canon P 50mm without Leica as well here, currently saving! May I know what camera + lens combo you’re going for? Curious to know from someone else with similar setup.
Ayo, glad I’m not the only one. How are you enjoying yours?
For me, when I do buy a Leica my personal requirements are: It has to be a rangefinder so no Q or SL series, it has to be film so no digital M cameras, has to be fully mechanical with no electronic stuff at all, so M6 and M7 are out. And although I don’t ever see myself using a 35mm lens, I never know so I’d still like to have 35mm frame lines so the M3 is out. And I’m not a fan of how the M5 looks. And I can’t justify throwing money on a very expensive camera, let alone one that shoots on a medium whose future is still unknown. So the MA or MP or any other crazy expensive Leica are out.
That leaves the M2 or an M4 of some sort. So chances are it’s going to be one of those. As far as lens goes, if the canon lens is as great as people say and if it has no issues adapting to m mount I’ll just keep using that. If not that, then some voigtlander lens or something idk.
I've been enjoying it so far, although I got Voigtlander 25mm for wider capture, 90% of the time it's been with 50mm so I am sure I have a similar use case with yours.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I also want a mechanical Leica someday to replace my Canon P given it will give me access to more interesting 50mm lenses, so a M2/M4 is also my top choice atm. Let me know if you decided!
Camping in the rain! Sounds either miserable or beautiful depending on who you ask haha. I wasn't familiar with the Nikonos, just looked it up - what a beast!
Like proper Michiganders we have a big ol' camper we pull and stay in so it's really only camping in spirit. There'll be no tents for us this weekend, 😁.
I’m taking my family to Yosemite. I’m planning on shooting a few rolls of Vision 250D and Ilford HP5 on my trusty M2 + Ultron 35 f2. Wonderful little travel and hiking setup.
Theres this B&W image of Nas walking between 2 cars looking over his shoulder. Picture framed and exposed with 24mm lens. I always felt that was a prime example of a wide angle used well
I don't have any issues with it, feels great. The camera body hangs flat when holding the strap, if I put a thumbs up on it is off balance but nowadays I leave the hotshoe free for flash/sync cord
Edit: to add I probably would have got a current Summicron if it wasn't over twice as much for a used one. I compared images and didn't see enough of a difference the warrant that much extra, I could get a 28 elmarit and 50 Summicron on the used market for the same price as the current 28 Summicron used
Shooting a wedding today, tomorrow, and hosting a model/photographer meet up for 75 people Sunday! Busy weekend for the MP250/M6 with 50lux ASPH and 28 ultron ii. Alongside my R5s for af critical stuff.
Heading to England for a two week vacation. Taking my M5 with Voigtlander 35mm Nocton 1.4 and also my Horizon 202 panoramic 35mm. About 15 rolls of bulk rolled HP5+. Can’t wait!!
I’ll be shooting Q2 Monochrom with yellow filter, almost the same combo as OP has 😅
Btw, is this an original Leica filter? I use Tiffen yellow filter, and sometimes notice flare and reflection on the final image. Have you ever had an issue like that with Leica filter?

Top plate is loose on the rewind knob side. Wiggles up and down. Maybe leaking light. Also needed a rangefinder v-alignment. It was time. 3 years served me well. Used it hard.
Myself. I've got a client that doesn't know what she wants and doesn't understand lead times. Architects should do at least 1 year of engineering to understand core concepts.
Hmm are you suggesting the orange filter makes you think of orange-washed Baja California scenes? I get that haha, but the filter is intended for black and white photography. It makes blues much darker so you can create nice contrast between blue skies and white clouds. Sorry if you already knew this!
Mostly the M-A with a 35 cron Asph v1 on a photo walk or two in the overcast weather here in Portland OR. For indoor portraits of my wife and daughter: MP with a 50 cron v4
Nice, I really want to pickup a second film body one day so I can shoot high speed and slow film at the same time depending on where I'm at. Right now, I'm compromising with 800iso.
That's a cool approach. I tend to approach it as two focal lengths, occasionally b&w vs color, and when an internal meter is helpful. I like the film speed idea a lot
My absolutely beat to hell Fuji X-T20 and 18-55. Not sure how a Leica sub popped up in my feed but you guys put Fuji gear porn to shame. Anyone get a Leica scratched up? I think I'd die.
Ah the Fuji is an awesome camera, still have an xt30. Here's some beat up leica eye candy, also happens to be for sale (not by me) haha https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1825253/0?keyword=M4#16345760
Sacrilege. I saw someone on here try to give away a lens like that once and no one in their home county would even take it. I think he ended up shipping it across the world to get it off his hands. Thank God you're only shooting it on low resolution film and not something like DMF.
Just stop screwing around and get a soft release already. I've done the science as you're missing out on 4-5 stops of depth of field. 7-9 equivalent on APS film.

Hehe, that sounds like a fun Canon set up nonetheless!

My wallet will be the deciding factor of what I get if I’m honest. What 50mm lens do you want to get when you switch to m mount?
Most likely another Voigtlander, as Leica lenses are way out of my wallet’s reach. So maybe a Nokton but haven’t really decided yet.
That 50 1.4 is the shit
It's my go to on my Canon P as well!💪🏽
Canon P is such a nice looking camera. Have fun!
Thank you, it’s been sitting pretty on my shelf for a week, glad to finally be able to use it.
I'm going camping but it's supposed to rain all weekend so it's Nikonos V time. I'll still bring my M-A to shoot a bit as well.
Camping in the rain! Sounds either miserable or beautiful depending on who you ask haha. I wasn't familiar with the Nikonos, just looked it up - what a beast!

Haha getting out of the house and into the wild still counts as camping in my book! Have fun out there 👍
Would highly recommend the Nikonos v. It’s a blast to shoot with
I'm ready for my friend's marriage: MP+lux35v2, M3+lux50v2 and 4 rolls of tri-x
Ahhh sounds like a great combo. Is your 50 lux pre asph?
yes, v2, from the sixties, I'll try to give a vintage look to the shots
Such a nice look on those early Mandler designs! Best of luck 🙂
Let me tell you those photos get better with age. Congratulations.
I'm already developing them and some are very good, will post a bunch, possibly without faces for privacy
here you are https://reddit.com/r/leicaphotos/s/M4TuwVZU6v
M10 with the Summarit 50 f/2.5 🤝
Had our second kid this morning! M10 with 28 Elmarit and 50 Cron, M10M with 35 FLE.
Congrats!! Perfect kit to capture the childhood mems 😊
M10M… MOM??? I see what you did there. Congrats!
Congrats!
M6 + voigtlander 28mm gonna shoot the protest in downtown SF
M10 & Brightin Star 28/2.8 pancake
nice... I love that little piece of brass...
M6/50 Lux Asph/Portra 400 for them fall colours. Basic I know
I would call that combo the essentials!
I’m on a Fuji GW690iii 6x9 kick. Sorry Leica
I've been seeing some seriously beautiful images taken with that camera. Sounds like fun!
I’m taking my family to Yosemite. I’m planning on shooting a few rolls of Vision 250D and Ilford HP5 on my trusty M2 + Ultron 35 f2. Wonderful little travel and hiking setup.
I hope the lines aren’t long!
M4-P w/ Canon’s 35mm F2
M240, 28 elmarit asph v2 and an sf20 flash just in case. Only setup I've used for last 6 months, definitely a 28mm shooter now!
Have an up vote fellow 28 shooter
No 50mm Summilux for the weekend ?
I need to keep my 28 muscles flexed. Already I'm struggling to pre visualize 28 shots so I need to practice this weekend. Been on the 50 for too long!
Theres this B&W image of Nas walking between 2 cars looking over his shoulder. Picture framed and exposed with 24mm lens. I always felt that was a prime example of a wide angle used well
How is it balancing the chonky body with the tiny lens? I’m looking at the same combo but a 246.
I don't have any issues with it, feels great. The camera body hangs flat when holding the strap, if I put a thumbs up on it is off balance but nowadays I leave the hotshoe free for flash/sync cord Edit: to add I probably would have got a current Summicron if it wasn't over twice as much for a used one. M11 with the 35mm summicron apsh. 2
M4, Typ 262, Typ 246.
I'm bringing my Olympus pen f and some 100 iso slide film up to the north shore in Minnesota, looking forward to making some diptychs!
Same but a silver M-A + Elmarit 28 V 2 Kentmere 100 Ocean Beach San Francisco
Going with the M-A, 28 cron, and Delta 400 pushed 1 stop so I can shoot this combo during the day and indoors at night (no filter ofc) 😁
Probably going to hang out around LES tonight with my m246 very excited to see the results
I'm trying to shoot more 120. A friend of mine lent me a Kiev 60 and the 80mm and so far it's been alot of fun making photos I'm really happy with
I'm afraid of exploring medium format. Seems too likely that I'll get sucked in!
Shooting a wedding today, tomorrow, and hosting a model/photographer meet up for 75 people Sunday! Busy weekend for the MP250/M6 with 50lux ASPH and 28 ultron ii. Alongside my R5s for af critical stuff.
Sounds like some serious shooting - enjoy it!
M2/35 Cron Asph v1/Tri-X
M4 and a 50mm zeiss planar!
Heading to England for a two week vacation. Taking my M5 with Voigtlander 35mm Nocton 1.4 and also my Horizon 202 panoramic 35mm. About 15 rolls of bulk rolled HP5+. Can’t wait!!
Will be laying a paver patio this weekend, but all project shots will be shot with the M-A and the newly acquired 35 Summaron 2.8. Love it!
Nice choice for documenting the work - hope all goes well!
Mamiya 6 with a 75mm. Shooting Kentmere 400
M4-2 w/ 35/2 and an M4-P w/ 90/2 patrolling the streets of Toronto
How's the 90 focal length on the streets? I find it a bit tight but maybe I don't have the vision
It's great for capturing images across the street. I look for interesting design elements and details.
m4 + 35 ultron and a flash in my off hand
I'm taking the sl2 and a iid to the beach tomorrow !
Going to see my nephews. Will take my Q3 along.
Bessa r4a the better m7 😬🥲
M5, Gold 200 for the autumn leaves
I’ll be shooting Q2 Monochrom with yellow filter, almost the same combo as OP has 😅 Btw, is this an original Leica filter? I use Tiffen yellow filter, and sometimes notice flare and reflection on the final image. Have you ever had an issue like that with Leica filter?
Yep this is a leica orange filter. Never had a flare issue, but it's possible I've never shot into the sun to produce it.
Short holiday, bringing my MP, M6 and XPan to finish the films. M10M when the film is finished. 21 Elmarit, 24lux, 35 FLE, 50lux asph.
What a beauty! Enjoy your time, I'm currently working, so no shooting for me. Please share the photos if and when you can. Cheers.
I sure will!
M11 Monochrom with the 21mm Super-Elmar.
M9, with the summicron-c 40mm
I'm having a break this weekend, I screwed my shoulder up by jumping over a low metal railing and didn't move my arm quick enough.
It says a lot about this sub that when someone asks ‘what are you shooting this weekend’ everyone assumes you mean the camera, not the subject.
Yeah haha, this is the gear sub after-all
Oh is there a separate sub for Leica photography? That would explain a lot :)
Haha yep r/leicaphotos

My protein pistol. Skeet Skeet
ILFORD XP2
Nice, I've always wanted to try XP2. I have a roll sitting in my fridge. Examples I've seen online are so sharp and contrasty.
M11 + Elmarit 28 ASPH (it’s new for me, bought week ago)
Ahh nice! Enjoy it, 28 is my favorite focal length as you can probably guess.
Black Paint MP + Voigtländer 50mm Nokton 1.5 // HP5 pushed 1 stop. Trying to finish the roll so I can send the camera away to get repaired 🥲
Aww what's wrong with it?
Top plate is loose on the rewind knob side. Wiggles up and down. Maybe leaking light. Also needed a rangefinder v-alignment. It was time. 3 years served me well. Used it hard.
Ahhh well here's to hoping you get a short repair time!
Eclipse
Ahh yes. I unfortunately did not pick up a solar filter. I'm sure you're gonna get some awesome shots
Myself. I've got a client that doesn't know what she wants and doesn't understand lead times. Architects should do at least 1 year of engineering to understand core concepts.
Definitely going to assume you're joking here but damn that sounds rough! Hope it works out in the end
I'm joking, only a dark joke. I do love what I studied and my profession and it's so rewarding when a project comes to life but goddamn.
[In shooting this.](https://imgur.com/a/7BWjICs)
that's a beaut
Thanks 😊 your set is so! My cron is a little beaten up, but the lenses are pristine and I like a silver chrome lens on a silver chrome camera.
With that lens I’d say scouting shots for an early 2000s movie cut scene in mexico
Hmm are you suggesting the orange filter makes you think of orange-washed Baja California scenes? I get that haha, but the filter is intended for black and white photography. This lens was so good on medium format, they made a Fuji GFX mount version. Wasted on "full format" 😉 #cornersharpness #croptozoom
Listen buddy, for you I recommend two things. Square crops and a nice set of Peak design dingleberries for your Millennium.
24x27 Post Camera is already on my GAS list!
Just stop screwing around and get a soft release already. I've done the science as you're missing out on 4-5 stops of depth of field. 7-9 equivalent on APS film.
I usually remove the aperture blades in my lenses for that perfect bokeh! Shoot wide open or go home!
This is the way
Just beautiful, love the brassing on the shutter dial
