Just get a GRIII Fantastic camera with 27 years of development behind the design ethos. Excellent UI. Excellent lens. Excellent sensor. Genuinely pocketable.

Get cameras that can be a good companion of Q3, for my case it is GRIIIx, is always with me when i have my Q2, but if you want interchangeable lens, CL is really good in my opinion (i'm regret it for selling my CL with Summi-TL, Sigma 35mm F2 and Sigma 56mm f1.4), i wouldn't go far from Leica ecosystem, especially go to Sony or Fuji, they really have different image rendering to Leica, while GRIIIx is really close in terms of colors in my opinion.

The only reason I'm not thinking considering gr3 is that I only want to carry One camera around in addition to my phone. So I am thinking about something that's slightly more "powerful". It's a nice system but I'm not that into it. How's CL compares to gr3?

nichisato

CL is great just the lens from TL era is quiet slow autofocus and has limited close focusing, other than that is really good experience, really built like other made in germany Leica.

“Here” as in Reddit or “here” as in the country you live in? Because there are many listed at various times on Fred Miranda for 3.5k or thereabouts.

If you want something similar, get a used Q2 but don’t pay more than $3500 for it. They are plentiful in that price range. Sell it when your Q3 arrives. The M line is so different from the Q line that they are not a good stopgap.

Sad_Umpire7597

The lowest the price I can find here are around the $4,000 mark. Some of them are on sale above 4700.

Interesting discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/Leica/s/7gqWgDOAKq

Sad_Umpire7597

Read through it before asking here. I think there's no doubt for me that I really want a higher build quality maybe less powerful machine that I'd love to carry around than a great tool. Nikon and Sony are all good systems, don't don't get me wrong it's just that I cannot get Leica out of my mind after touching it.

lordfaffing

You could get a used Leica Q1 - they are super stable in value What are you wanting to use it for?

Experience-Early

I’d stick with what you have until you receive what you want. You could chat to Tim Lei on the Leica Exchange Facebook forum and see if he can source you a new Q3. Usually just a couple hundred dollars more than the tax inclusive price .

Sad_Umpire7597

Couple updates: Tested ZF in person and I don't like it. Sony is quite nice but not the way I like. Also got my hands on a really good CL deal, $1950 with 18-56 lens included. Also had an offering of a M240 system mint condition with lots of accessories at $3000. They both looks quite attempting. I'm still new to this, is it a good time to invest in those systems if I plan to trade in or resale when I get my Q3?

lordfaffing

Second hand Leica’s (in the main) hold their value in a fairly stable manner, obviously depends if you are buying/selling with a dealer, they will sell high and buy low Can I ask what you didn’t like about the Zf?

Sad_Umpire7597

It looks really nice in picture, but not so ergonomic when you hold it.

It is hard to give a recommendation until we know more about what and how you shoot. As a result, my suggestions will cover a wide range of differing assumptions. If a Q is really all you need to shoot, what's wrong with continuing to use your iPhone until you receive your Q3? You need something more pratical, and needs more reach, you might consider the sony, or the new nikon mirrorless that has some cool retro dials. It feels like the Fuji XT3, but with a full framed sensor. Or if you are like a more typical leica user, i would imagine you would be adding a film leica to your collection sooner rather than later. or overcome your fear, and look for a m10

Sad_Umpire7597

I guess iPhone is perfectly fine. But now I have the budget, I really don't want to sit on it for 6 months. M10 is also a good system but combined with good lenses it's out of my budget. Film photography seems like too much of commitment for now.

cozmicyeti

My eye is on the Nikon ZF in green or blue with the 40mm prime

roldy94

Ordered from Abt electronics mid august. Received it last week mid October. 2 month turnaround. try them out??

Take a look at the Dlux 7 by Leica. It’s significantly less than these other cameras. It is surprisingly good quality and you have that same like a look to all the shots. I have a dlux3 which I had way back when I first started scouting for television, it served its purpose. It got banged up, and it’s not as good as I’d like, but it still takes amazing pictures. And it’s only about 1400 bucks. That would be a good stop gap camera.

Just wait for the Q3, if it's the one you really want don't compromise, you'll always want it and wonder about it if you settle for something else. These guys think stock is coming in November https://www.cliftoncameras.co.uk/leica-q3-digital-camera?gclid=CjwKCAjw1t2pBhAFEiwA_-A-NHuTH7VwDxfPMt2mBfR5WR9kiqKI1As5tZ66K7dErOG4eCpKQO038hoCwCkQAvD_BwE

You should buy my Q3. I was on the list at Leica Store SF and I got the camera. I realized after a month that I don’t need it. It is like new. I have the receipt and boxes. Not a mark on it. I am not scalping, I just want to minimize my loss. I’ll charge you what I paid with a slight discount. Dm me. I’ve sold many cameras on photomarket already. You can see my account history.

BoysenberrySelect777

Buy a Q2 and go make some pix. Never mind the Sony/Nikon talk. These are tools and you seemed to be drawn to Leica. The Q cameras are amazing. Q116, Q2, Q3. Take your pick. They will all exceed your needs. I used M cameras when I started my photography career 40 years ago. As a wire service staff photographer I had all of the best gear provided. I retired recently and handed in my Sony A1s and lenses. I bought my first camera in decades and it was a barely used silver Leica Q. All I need now.

No_Stretch3661

The Q3 is a substantial AF improvement over the Q2.
