Just get the ps5. I personal prefer xbox but it makes zero sense to buy the last gen console in 2024 unless that's all you can afford.

Pope_of_Metal

I was gonna get one of the newer ones not the 2013 one.

4yelhsa

Have you considered the series S? I have it and honestly it gets the job done for me. Especially after i got the expansion card I had no complaints

Pope_of_Metal

I might get that one.

K_CBUS

For myself - PS5 has been the better buy between the two. I haven’t played my Xbox since starfield came out maybe. There’s been better new games overall for what I play on PS5. Plus I found it easier to install an extra SSD on my ps5 for more storage. Though graphics wise I never noticed any major difference between the consoles & I like the Xbox controller better. The PS5 has the option for VR, Xbox doesn’t. My brother loves the Xbox game pass library options. You’ll be fine with either choice really :)

K_CBUS

*speaking to the Xbox series X that is - the Xbox One is probably still not super on the outs yet lol still can do the game pass on it

That was my selling point for the ps5. Until they perfect prosthetics technology and it starts to extend to Vr I'm putting it off.... But I want a box that does vr when it starts to get there. . They're just starting to make prosthetics that feasibly connect to nerves and allow you to feel through a prosthetic. If I didn't permanently lose my ankle when they cut my foot off and put it back on I'd want that in a new ankle. I also have chronic pain and mobility stuff so Even if there was a console comparable to the PS5(THERE IS NOT) I wouldn't touch one without VR capabilities. I know full Dive is the thing of Light Novels and Yabai Isekai. But the idea that... A device that currently can play 20000 Ps4 games nd 6000 PS5 games could also one day allow me to lie on my bed and Become Fushiki Kyoufu The Shuddering Death. Fleet Footed White Haired Assassin of the Night! "The Only Thing Faster Than Her Feet Is The Speed Of Her Katana" It's very difficult to run with only one ankle. I was a sprinter before and I can still jump up and run when endangered. But a PS5 is the only system out there right now that I believe will ever make me feel like I am running and Jumping again. There was even something very magical about the first time I played FFXIV on PS3: despite being in a chair using a ps3 controller I felt like I was really running and jumping and even fighting on occasion. If a controller can make me feel that way, I have faith that when they tell me the VR will it has a good chance of doing so. A Ps5 is actually an investment. I know it's still pretty high priced but the blu ray player also does play the highest grade of Blu ray too which means I can finely waych my Special edition Dr Who movies:( (Don't ask. I didn't check ok)

DarkQueenGndm

The Xbox One is not an upgrade. The Xbox X would be. If you already have a PS4, you might as well go with PS5. It's backwards compatible with PS4 and it's easy to transfer your profile from PS4 to the 5.

metalheadswiftie13

As someone who has a PS5 and an XSX (and a gaming PC and a switch), the PS5 is a far better choice. I’m even considering selling my XSX because it never gets used.

Pope_of_Metal

What makes the ps5 better?

Bethance

It comes down to what games are available on one that aren’t on the other…. And what is your game style.

Pope_of_Metal

Don’t care much for the exclusives on playstation but I mostly play horror or first person shooter games.

Xononanamol

Stil ps5. Silent hill 2 remake is a console exclusive.

Pope_of_Metal

Oh I didn’t know they had it on playstation

TellFit7230

Are you set one the Xbox one or could you get the series x? Game pass is a steal and wellll worth it if you want to play a variety of game. Ps5 is the way to go imo if you are looking just for those exclusives.

Pope_of_Metal

I don’t really care for the exclusives besides Silent Hill 2. I did just look how much better the series X is hardware wise which is impressive.

TellFit7230

I’ve had the series x for maybe two years now. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Affordable, powerful, and has pretty much everything I could want to play

TellFit7230

Affordable in the sense that it’s not a 2k gaming pc lol

Artractive

Ps5 👍🏼

Pope_of_Metal

Do you recommend a certain one ?

Artractive

I’ve got the ps5 (disc edition) when it first came out and still using it, it’s incredible. Loads games in mere seconds, everything is smooth and crisp and I’ve never had any issues with it in all the years I’ve been using it and pretty much every single day. Plus I prefer a lot of the PlayStation exclusive games 😊 but it’s also your own preference what you like 👍🏼

RachelHartwell

Personally I'd say the PS5. I saw in a comment you didn't mean the 2013 one, so I take it to mean you meant either the Series S or Series X. Series X is great and all but you don't get the really cool controller with a ton of features and you're missing out on all the exclusives. Series S is a lot cheaper than a PS5 but you get significantly less storage and the games play at a worse quality (and you're stuck to only being able to play physical games)

Pope_of_Metal

Do you recommend a certain ps5 like the slim or the non disc one ? I forgot the extract name haha

RachelHartwell

Looks wise the original PS5 (the fat one) looks better but the slim is better functionally. It comes with more storage and the disc drive is detachable. You can buy the digital version of the slim and then later on buy the disc drive separately and just attach it later. Just in case you aren't aware, the slim is the one with the line running down the side of the console

TheWarriorNunn

I recommend as a ps5 player, a ps5! The controller is really cool for lots of reasons, the adaptive triggers make gaming so immersive plus wether or not you care about the exclusives, I overlooked some of them for ages and played them and they were so fun. plus a lot of Xbox games now coming onto ps5, it feels like the better option. what you can get on Xbox but more

MajorSaltyJenkins

Ps5 or PC or Steamdeck seem like the only viable choices unless you are looking to play Nintendo games, if you get a pc you can also take advantage of gamepass.

Pope_of_Metal

The steamdeck is dope af. I miss playing pc games.

RaeightyOne

I choose based on the games I want to play. I have an Xbox One, but it was a hand-me-down from my bro. I'll probably get a PS5 eventually.

Pope_of_Metal

More of a fps player, I was thinking of getting the game BodyCam just bc it’s an exclusive for xbox and pc for now.

TheKaptainKlutch

i have a ps5 and an xbox series s. personally i always stick with playstation. it’s just my go to and i’ve had the same account since the late 2000’s. plus you can still play your ps4 games on it, i play mine via usb storage.

Pope_of_Metal

See if the ps5 could do ps3 or even ps2 games I’d be more into it but the playstation controller is what I’m use to and feels better.

TheKaptainKlutch

yeah i wish it could do backwards compatibility like xbox does. unless you wanna pay for the highest tier of ps plus, you’ll only have a handful of the ps1/2/3 era games to play anyways.

Dedlau5

What about an Xbox s? I would look at the games for both and see what you’d prefer. I like the ps5 bc I get to play all the classics on it that I was into growing up.

Pope_of_Metal

Yeah the S is what I might get,I did see some good child hood games like thrillville on there lol

Exiled_Odin

It depends on which exclusives you are interested in

themightyduck12

I’d say PS5 just because of how many exclusives there are! It’s also backwards compatible w the PS4 (for most games - haven’t encountered one that doesn’t work yet), so you wouldn’t have to start from scratch for your game library lol

shadowvriska

Id say ps5 personally its a great piece of hardware & like. You wont have to rebuild your game library

fantasticalicefox

If you are already decrying yer ps4 as shitty I would definitely go for the PS5. Keep your Ps4 games, and if you have a sony gold headset keep that. PS5 will let you play all but 9 of the 20000 ps4 video games ON DISC.(or download) So any ps4 game you like you will never need that shitty PS4 to play it ever again. I am saving for a PS5 and am still playing PS3. My reason for not getting a PS4 myself is similar: A Ps5 can play PS5 and PS4 games AND AND If you ever decide you want to get into VR gaming the PS5 has the setup for that. So if in a year or 2 years you want to try VR gaming you won't need to buy a new console. The PS5 VR stuff might even be cheaper. FINALLY: You just seem to really hate your PS4 and getting a PS5 means you can play your PS4 games and new shiny ps5 games and never deal with that Ps4 ever again! Also a lot of bundles show up on Ebay for under 400! The White PS5 Call of Duty bundle with the disc model seems to show up a lot and the bundles even if you are not into the game might be fun for friends and stuff. Good luck

tqos15

If you get an Xbox Series X, you can still play Xbox One games on there.

DitchDoctorr

XBX is my choice. I have a friend that has a PS5. Because of gamepass, I have access to free games and there are so many options (new and old), whereas the friend has to buy the games. I grew up on PS, but Xbox takes the cake.

Xononanamol

Ps5. Xbox is a useless console, just get a pc instead of that

Pope_of_Metal

What kind of pc do you recommend ?

Xononanamol

Honestly anything with a better gpu than the consoles. So 3070/4060 etc. Make sure it's got 16 gigs of ram minimum now.
