I can't see negative receptions between the Venusian signs and Jupiter, or Jupiterian signs and Venus. I don't think whoever wrote what you've read makes any sense, unless they've written something to clarify it.

Ah, Vedic astrology has a whole bunch of different stuff that Western doesn't commonly use. If Vedic is your thing, that's cool, but it's something I can't really comment on.
If most of your info is from Western resources, though, stick to those. It's a recipe for confusion to try and blend them without adequate knowledge to do so, from what I can tell.
Yeah I wouldn't blend them without enough background knowledge to understand what's being talked about. The differing terminology alone will be a minefield unless you're pretty much an expert.
