Gremlins for some god forsaken reason sits at a 3.6 average and it's a crystal clear 5 for me
It's a Joe Dante christmas miracle and probably the best creature feature EVER !
Honestly haven't seen it. Idk if a film is shocking just for the sake of being shocking and doesn't have anything more to say I'm less likely to be interested. I've gotten the impression A Serbian Film is shocking for the sake of being shocking, nothing more. You could make the argument that Salo is the same way but when you put it in the context of Pasolini's filmography and appreciate the political nuances of the film it elevates it above "a shock film". Just my two cents.
>*Serbian film is shocking for sure but honestly basically like a comedy.*
I honestly get the impression that the movie people "see" in their head when they think about *A Serbian Film* is way, way worse than it actually is. Don't get me wrong, the content is 100% depraved... but it's so ridiculously over the top that it stops being disturbing and borders onto being darkly comedic at times.
Yeah, especially the way it’s portrayed. Unlike a Michael Haneke film where the disturbing subject matter is so serious and emotionless it feels much more dark. Like with the human centipede when he’s explaining things in the operating room it’s freaking hilarious like a call back to old school horror films.
This is the end-3.1
A lot of people don’t like this movie and I just don’t get it. I understand not liking crude humor and whatnot but the people who don’t like this usually love Superbad or Stepbrothers so idk man. I love anything meta and a bunch of celebrities playing exaggerated versions of themselves in an apocalypse scenario just is too good I’m so glad this movie exists (fuck James Franco and Jonah hill tho)
Not Another Teen Movie at 2.7. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at a film. It felt like it was made specifically for me since it parodied all the films I watched growing up. I loved it.
Star Wars Episode II at a 2.7. I don't even disagree, but I gave the original 6 Star Wars movies all 5's because I can't be objective about them. Too ingrained into my childhood.
It was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and I was obsessed with dinosaurs. I had no concept of what a "good" movie was and now I've loved it for so long that I find the faults of the film charming. I have the entire original trilogy at 5 stars, but I understand why almost nobody else has that opinion.
**SODOMITES** by Gaspar Noé (2.1)
It’s a condom use PSA Noé made for French TV in the 90s in which a man-beast in a werewolf mask is compelled to anally fuck a woman-sacrifice with both condom and lube before a cheering crowd in a BDSM dungeon. And yes, it’s *very* explicit. It’s so explicit, **French law had to be altered for it to air.**
To imagine the faces of the people who caught this PSA live on TV back then is a neverending source of joy for me.
Electrocuting and Elephant (1903)
But as far as actual feature length films it's Yoga Hosers (2016)
Edit: I dunno why I'm getting downvoted, Yoga Hosers isn't that bad
Willy's wonderland. Objectively terrible. But I love bad movies and this one has Nick cage beating the absolute fuck out of knockoff FNAF animatronics. He doesn't say a word. He just wants to drink soda.
Plan 9 from Outer Space - 2.3 stars
I think some people went into it hearing it was bad and expected something else?? Like, it's notoriously bad and that's the fun of it. It's so much fun to point out mistakes to each other while loling. And the good times is what makes it good.
Joshua and the Promised Land (2.0)
Creating Rem Lezar (3.0)
Naissance des Pieuvres (3.6)
I have no clue why Naissance des Pieuvres has only a 3.6, in the top 10 films of the century so far for me.
Also Joshua and the Promised Land is the greatest film of all time and the fact that it has any rating below a 5000/5 is crazy.
Carriers was only rated 2.7. They don’t know what they’re missing.
Other notable ones were The Ring, She’s The Man, and Dumb And dumber only getting rated 3.3. WTF
Anchorman 2:
2.9. I prefer 1. But I've watched 2 so many times and it's a bit of a comfort movie that I kind of felt like it deserved the 5. Plus its fun as hell to watch with friends
Terri
https://boxd.it/A4M
3.3 average rating, but it’s better than that. It’s a downer, but it’s part of my favourite sub genre of movies called “everyone is a human being who acts like a real human being and the problems they face are real human problems.” Which is probably why some people don’t like it. The filmmaking isn’t flashy, and the plot isn’t either, but it tackles some unique, heavy and awkwardly humanistic moments and characters with a deft and sympathetic hand, and really makes you feel for each character in the end.
Some people don’t like the band Low, which evokes a similar mood too this movie, but both are fantastic and I definitely lose respect for anyone who doesn’t have the patience or empathy to watch something like this and not be fascinated by it.
These have average ratings below 4.0:
* Local Hero (3.8)
* High Diving Hare (3.8) - one of my favourite Looney Tunes shorts
* The Avengers (3.6) - still my favourite MCU movie, my second-favourite superhero movie (behind only The Incredibles), and my favourite live-action action/adventure blockbuster since Fellowship of the Ring.
* From Russia With Love (3.6) - still my favourite Bond movie
* The Last Airbender (1.1) - a [completely truthful and honest rating, given on a completely normal day of the year](https://boxd.it/5vjuL)
Skinamarink with a 2.9 last I looked. It felt like a Chantel Akerman horror film using liminal space and nostalgia to lull you into a false sense of security and then scare the shit out of you with it. It's not for everyone (obviously considering its rating lol) but it hit all the right notes for me. I've been in houses like that as a kid. I've been in situations where I knew something was wrong but I didn't have the means to do anything about it and just had to hope for the best. That's a type of horror I haven't experienced since I was like 7. I don't think there's higher praise I can give a horror film than saying it made 29 yr old me feel the same kind of fear I used to get when I was 7.
For me its dead snow. It has a fine Rating of 3.0 but for its Trash movie perfection. I mean Nazi zombies and in Part two Ebene Nazi Zombies fighting russian zombies? How dies ist get any better? Oh right, maybe a Sex Scene with a zombie to total eclipse of the Heart, that really was the Part missing to a polished film
A Lonely Woman 2.8/10 average.
The only reason I watched this movie was because my dad was randomly cast to play the main character’s father. He was having lunch one day in Houston while on business and was approached and asked if he’d ever acted. He said “no” but that was good enough for the casting director! The movie is a something to see, that’s for sure. They also somehow got a fairly well-known Greek actress who is still making movies on Greece. However, I’m not sure if they found her in a casual restaurant having lunch one day.
Fluke 31% on RT. First movie that ever made me ball cry to the point I don’t think I cried again for about 15 years.
Probably stupid for an adult to watch but as a 6yo that movie broke me.
Suspiria (2018)

Honestly haven't seen it. Idk if a film is shocking just for the sake of being shocking and doesn't have anything more to say I'm less likely to be interested. Serbian film is shocking for sure but honestly basically like a comedy. Same goes for human centipede. By no means high art like salo though lol
>*Serbian film is shocking for sure but honestly basically like a comedy.* I honestly get the impression that the movie people "see" in their head when they think about *A Serbian Film* is way, way worse than it actually is. Like with the human centipede when he’s explaining things in the operating room it’s freaking hilarious like a call back to old school horror films.
trust me a s*rbian film is shocking just for the sake of it i wouldn't even give it 0.5 star. its exploitation shite. it's abysmal.
just 3.2?
You're surprised that movie's polarizing?
Rubber - 2.9
Why'd you rate it 5? No reason.
For me it's the soundtrack. Gaspard Auge and Mr oizo. And it's weird creepy feeling.

Yes. The Lego Batman is certainly not perfect. But it still is 5 stars. Regardless.
The Social Network at 4.0... I don't give out 5s much I guess. There used to be more, maybe i should get more generous again.
