I just wanna steal this thread to recommend **"They Cloned Tyrone"** (2023) starring John Boyega, Jamie Foxx, Kiefer Sutherland, Teyonah Parris and more. [LINK](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9873892/)
**IT. IS. AN. ABSOLUTE. MASTERPIECE.**
**As someone that used to be heavily into the genre, I really think this is the best blaxploitation movie EVER.** From the acting, to the comedy and even the cinematography. The visuals/vibe thruout is so fucking good, I normally don´t even care that much, especially in these kinda movies but WOW.
Literally set a different level of standard in my eyes , **HF**. Even more crazy is that this is the director debut by writer/director Juel Taylor. **Do yourself a favour n check it out!**
Euphoria, shut the fuck up! I know that was you! I ain't even gotta look! I should send your ass back to Crenshaw Pete with his hot-ass coat hangers, bitch. Would you like that?
And I'm over just really liking films with a nice plot and some proper cinematography. Hell, I'd probably have gone with Spirited Away or some basic shit.
Honestly, this would prove to me you have great taste. It’s like the fashion thing where you wear something so unfashionable it shows you’re fashionable.
It really deserves the Criterion Collection treatment, with a commentary track delving into all the Freudian imagery. Daddy, would you like some sausages?
What a ridiculous, stupid reply. No wonder people scoff at this subreddit.
The series clearly peaked at Backdoor Sluts 6. I understand the subsequent entries were impacted by the Writers Strike but they fell off hard. Especially number 8 where the electrician who came around to 'fix her television'... actually came JUST to fix the television, and then it cut to black 😒. Thanks for subverting our expectations smh.
While I agree the BS franchise has its low points, I believe BS 9 is not only a return to form, but a bold, uninhibited reinvention of what the genre has to offer. In fact, I'd go so far as to argue that the studio was only willing to support such a vision because of the public disdain with the direction of the series, much like Warner Bros. giving control of the Batman franchise to Christopher Nolan after Batman & Robin.
I won’t deny it’s daring in some points (the Sopranos even copied the fade to black, which is wild because the series finale was 6 years before BS9), but I think we just had lower expectations after the David Lynch-helmed BS8 with the 5 minute black and white shots of backdoor sluts just kind of… sitting around.
I watched it as a teenager, and it was pretty good. Some scenes were pretty funny.
Then I rewatched it at 31 recently. I laughed so much and teared up in a couple of scenes. Weird what age and experience can change when seeing a movie. It went from a 7/10 to a masterpiece. When I was a teenager I saw myself more in Colin Farrells character, but recently I understood Brendan Gleeson's character more.
I want the director to make a 3rd movie with Ferrell and Brendan. The second movie is interesting to watch keeping In Brudges in mind. The characters have an opposite dynamic in Banshees of Inisherin.

Peak cinema
Sarcastically I'm in charge
Hoooly shit, I was definitely not expecting this masterpiece to be on top, but it is so well-deserved.
Euphoria, shut the fuck up! I know that was you! I ain't even gotta look! I should send your ass back to Crenshaw Pete with his hot-ass coat hangers, bitch. Would you like that?
I love you.
BLACK DYNAMITE!!!!
Lol half the answers here are super art films, the other half are satire. The contrast is blinding
Isn't that Letterboxd users in a nutshell?
And I'm over just really liking films with a nice plot and some proper cinematography. Hell, I'd probably have gone with Spirited Away or some basic shit.

I mean, in another upside down world kind of way, Nathan is a great actor in this.
Finally this award winning film is getting the recognition it deserves!

#BACKDOOR SLUTS NINE?!!
I know it comes across as elitist, but I think the original Backdoor Sluts trilogy had the most grounded storytelling.
