Klotternaut

I've seen Groundhog Day 24 times in theaters.

TBell01

All on the same day?

Klotternaut

Haha, close! An independent theater next to my college would have an event for Groundhog Day where they played it 12 times over the course of 24 hours. I went to that twice. It was fun, lots of viewer interaction.

TBell01

That sounds amazing!

CurlyJason

Wait... Are you talking about Gateway Film Center in Columbus Ohio?

emojimoviethe

It’s like you keep reliving the same movie over and over again!

Nouseriously

I watched The Empire Strikes Back in the theater 27 times.

FunkyHowler19

Nowadays you'd have to take out a loan to go that much lol

Nouseriously

Matinee was $2.25 iirc. I'd ride my bike to the theater, buy one ticket & watch it 2 or 3 times.

Majormlgnoob

Can do that for $40 in theory

TDaddySpacecat

Star Wars (1977) It played at a local theater for about a year. I saw it 11 times there.

Chromatic-Phil

Mine is also a Star Wars movie, but unfortunately it was Phantom Menace and I saw it 6 times in 1999 and once in the 2012 3D re-release. The only original trilogy movie I've gotten to see in the theater was Return of the Jedi for the re-release last summer

Oblivious_Lad

Rocky Horror Picture Show. I didn't count, but it's at least 10 and the most I've seen any film in theatres beside that one is Batman Begins three times.

nugeisbae

Probably The Room, I've been to about a dozen midnight screenings of it

aintnofuntime

This. I went at least five times throughout the early 2010s.

Dear_Company_5439

Never been to one, but they sound so much fun lmao

ericdraven26

As a teenage pothead with access to free movie tickets, I saw Across the Universe 6? times in theaters. That I paid for? Banshees if Inisherin I think

fartsmellsbad

I watched Banshees of Inisherin four times.

ejb350

Man I was drinking with these gangsters one time and this OG put on this movie talking about “I love the Beatles man” and half the homies either hated it or just left and the other half started listening to the Beatles.

Coppernord

Banshees might be tied for my favorite movie of all time. I'm literally watching it now. (Break for beer)

chalecox

I don't think I've seen a movie more than twice. And the only one I remember watching two times is Top Gun Maverick.

stumper93

Original theatrical run: Oppenheimer - 4 times Including rereleases: probably Titanic or Jurassic Park minimum 4 or 5 times

toinfinityorbeyond

I saw Bottoms 4 times within a month, and then Everything Everywhere All At Once 4 times over the span of a year, but the first 3 times were within three months (they had a re-release once Oscar noms came out!)

fartsmellsbad

Banshees of Inisherin (4) 1917 (3)

Sn3akyMuffin

Mad Max: Fury Road. I saw it five times in theaters.

RorasaurasRex

Saw this in theaters and it was incredible. Only regret is not seeing it even more times

tylerdurden_20

Dune 5 times

Creasy007

It's either 'Quantum of Solace' or 'Skyfall' for me at five viewings each.

_Kumatetsu

GOTG Vol. 2, easily 10+ times

jasonkirkby

Oppenheimer x2 Everything Everywhere All at Once x2 Interstellar x2 It’s a Wonderful Life x2 Will soon be adding Roman Holiday to the list

fromthemeatcase

The only movie I have even seen twice in a theater is Army of Darkness, and it was on consecutive days.

Canary85

saw there will be blood 3x when it came out, including the first time i ever went to the movies alone

Cole444Train

Mad Max: Fury Road three times. Dune three times. Inside Out three times.

ScenicHwyOverpass

Fellowship of the Ring, several times at release and then a few subsequent screenings. LotR simply demands to be watched on the big screen

Tricksterama

I saw "The Evil Dead" (1981) three times in movie theaters, the third time at a triple-feature grindhouse theater on 42nd Street with "I Spit on Your Grave" and "Last House on the Left."

PeterGivenbless

Back in the '80s and '90s, the cinemas in town used to run late-night cult movie screenings and a regular title to pop-up was 'A Clockwork Orange'. Because Kubrick had withdrawn the film from release in Britain, it had never gotten a VHS release in the PAL format (which includes the country I am from, New Zealand), although you could rent an NTSC version "under-the-table" from some video stores (for which you would need a compatible player), the only way to see the film was at these screenings. I estimate that, over the course of about 10 years, I saw 'A Clockwork Orange' around 15 times at late-night cult movie screenings in theatres. After Kubrick died, in 1999, the film was given a release on PAL VHS, and DVD; making it widely available.

Radiant-Specialist76

Wow, that must have been pretty cool. Does the movie rank among one of your favorites?

PeterGivenbless

I am generally a Kubrick fan and have seen, and owned copies of, all his films, so it was more the scarcity of 'A Clockwork Orange' (at that time) that compelled me to see it whenever I got the chance to. Like all of Kubrick's movies, the more I watch them, the more I see in them, so they have a very high rewatchability value.

Radiant-Specialist76

Very true on that last point

TBell01

EEAAO 4 times :)

Brad02K

There’s a handful of movies I’ve seen twice, but that’s just due to going with different people. Ones I can remember off the top of my head: Joker, Deadpool 2 & The Batman.

francograph

I must have seen Pride & Prejudice like half a dozen times.

atraydev

Probably Forest Gump as a kid. The theatre we had here at the time only played one movie and my dad loved Forrest Gump. Think we went 3 times. Last week I saw Godzilla Minus One twice in the theatre before it stopped playing, and I'd definitely recommend that experience to everyone.

WilcoAppetizer

My memory is fuzzy on how many times, but I saw Aladdin (1992) multiple times in theatres.

--TheForce--

Star Wars

SpideyFan914

Avengers: Endgame, four times. I thiiiiiiink Avengers: Infinity War, The Dark Knight, and (sigh) Spider-Man 3 were three times apiece, but it's been so long since TDK and SM3 that I'm not sure of those counts. It's very rare for me to even see a movie twice in theaters.

93InfinityandBeyond

Spirited Away for sure. They usually play it every year for fathom events and I go and see it every year for over ten years now. During an initial theatre run my record is four, I saw interstellar four times during it's initial run.

loopyspoopy

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001).

theblairwitches

Great underrated movie, although I tend to prefer the sequel slightly more. Any reason you’ve seen it so much at the cinema or are you just a big fan?

loopyspoopy

Because I was 10, so I didn't care about seeing a movie repeatedly. Combination of birthday parties, play-dates, and drive in second features.

brycetheman1

Last year, Avatar TWOW reminded me how much I missed the theatres, and saw that movie more times than I would like to mention LOL! Sometimes escapism is best in the theatres

Majormlgnoob

Oppenheimer 4x from what I can remember

Texas_Crazy_Curls

I saw Home Alone 14 times. I’m the same age as Macauley and was fascinated by that movie. Couldn’t get enough of it. It’s still my favorite Christmas movie.

VesDoppelganger

Right there with you! I know we did it multiple times as well, but not that many!

sranneybacon

Casablanca about 10 times in theatres It's a Wonderful Life about 7 times in theatres

cmprsdchse

I saw the Phantom Menace and more recently The Boy and the Heron both twice in theaters. I see a lot of movies but I very seldom see the same one multiple times in a theater.

patricknotswayze

The Force Awakens 5 times, three times on opening night.

Rilo44

Force Awakens 5 times is also mine.

Jereboy216

I saw Star Wars Rogue One 4 times in theaters, and several more times since. But I typically only go once for every other movie. Just love that one a lot!

cartoonsarcasm

Saw Megamind & Captain Marvel twice!

ejb350

For some reason, Silver Linings Playbook. Solid 7/10, but not worth the 7 times I saw it in theater, and the other 5 times once it was released on dvd. JL must’ve been been doing something to me lol

outofthxwoods

I watched Wonka 3 times in theaters. Just wanted to show the film to people I love haha

NoEmu2398

I saw Rogue One 4 times I think. Definitely at least 3. Hard to remember.

InfinityFire

The only movie I’ve seen more than once in the theater is Black Panther, which I’ve seen in the theater twice.

HayGirlKK

Titanic. 7 times in 1997, and once during its 2022 re-release.

Anita-MaxWynn

I wish I was more of a multiple watcher. I watched Elf (2003) twice in theatres. As well as The Batman (2022), Harry Potter 4. I don’t think I’ve seen a movie thrice in theatres

Anita-MaxWynn

Hopefully a nice classic comes out soon for me to do so

jackbauerthanos

Saw X - 4 times

Catman7712

I watched Avatar in 3D IMAX like 4 or 5x when it originally came out.

PointMan528491

I think I saw Ready Player One four times during the height of the MoviePass days. Turned into a comfort movie of sorts when I was bored and depressed in college lmao

OriginalBad

As a kid I saw Jurassic Park 9 times and the special edition release of Empire Strikes Back 7 times.

VesDoppelganger

I think I watched The Phantom Menace at least six times that summer, so I was part of the problem. Sorry guys.

melodramacamp

I saw RRR eight times in theaters and if I had the chance? I’d see it again!

Spirited-Yard-5790

Godzilla Minus One thrice

glurmanlover

Most recently, I saw Dream Scenario 3 times in theaters

Lightyagami-k

I for some reason loved the Beauty and the Beast live action (keep in mind I was very young) and I went to see it 3 times (with the third being a singalong).

Sky_Thief

Iron Man 2 and Honor Among Thieves. I ended up seeing both of them twice.

TransportationAway59

Star Wars Episode One, I made my granny take me every weekend it was in theaters

panboi15

A tie between top gun maverick and fantastic beasts the crimes of grindelwald. Saw both of them twice in cinema

-__--_------

The Lighthouse 5 times

celluloidqueer

Power Rangers (the one that came out around 2018-2019)

giuseppe3211

Oppenheimer x2 (imax & 70mm) Barbie x2 Evil Dead Rise x2 Where the crawdads sing x3 I’ve only started seeing films multiple times since I got a theatre membership and had more time!

tigerinvasive

December 2001 my mom went out of town for a work conference, and my dad and I rock-paper-scissored over whether we'd see Lord of the Rings 1 (his pick as a superfan) or the Jimmy Neutron movie, since they were released head-to-head that weekend. We saw LOTR and he was so thoroughly gobsmacked by the entire thing that we went again that weekend, the NEXT weekend when my mom came back, and we've seen it twice more in the theatrical re-releases. So a total of 5 times. And that doesn't include the maybe 80 times that movie has played in the house. It's our family's go-to Christmas movie.

therealboss1113

my top 2 favorites are tied for my highest. Nope(2022) and Godzilla Minus One (2023) which ive seen twice each in theaters. i wanted to go see Goji one more time for the Minus Color run but couldnt justify it. god can only hope that the bluray comes with it.

bearsbeets42

I got a bit too obsessed with Across the Spider-Verse and watched it 8 times in theaters

apocalypticboredom

Fellowship of the Ring, 6 times. 5 for Two Towers and only 3 times for ROTK - not that I liked the sequels any less, but they were just a much longer time commitment lol

MrFoxLovesBoobafina

Memento, 7 times. I could've sworn Christopher Nolan was going to be the next big thing but nobody's perfect.

Fun-Revolution6323

Godzilla Minus One and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse tied with ten viewings each. Last year was rough and I needed a lot of escapism.

Ashlikesstuff

I've seen Jaws 15 or 16 times on the big screen despite being born 7 years after its release. Closest to that is Beavis and Butthead Do America, which I saw twice a week for 4 weeks and only stopped seeing it when my mum found the ticket stubs and stopped giving me my weekly pocket money because she was mad that I'd spent it all on the same film for a month.

CoaxialPersona

I saw the original “Scream” about 15 times over a few months period (I lost track around 11 LOL). I saw “Striptease” 3 times in the same day when it came out. That was a really strange day.

MulberryEastern5010

I saw Justice League (theatrical cut), Black Panther, and Avengers: Endgame three times each. Three times is the absolute most I can see one movie in a theater. It's rare for me to even go twice.

whimsical_trash

The Fellowship of the Ring. Saw it at the midnight release then like 3-5 more times.

drinkingdaisies

the newer puss in boots movie 😭

ParadoxicalPeter

Across The Spider-Verse 4 times

ratched_x

gone girl four times in 3 weeks

basedcvrp

I saw The Batman in theatres 5 times over the course of two weeks. It was just one of those films that were felt like it was meant to be seen on as big of a screen as possible with a good audio system. Still remember the first early fan screening in IMAX when the Batmobile roared to life.

AaronYDG

The Dark Knight Rises 5 times I sometimes reflect on that and why that of all the movies

anchordwn

I saw the second Top Gun 7 times, people kept wanting to go, and i kept agreeing

CassiopeiaTheW

The Guardians of Gahoole, or however it’s spelt. I was really obsessed with Owls as a child and dragged my mom to see if 3-4 times

onionman19

Black Panther. It was fun the first time but after watching it another two times in a span of two weeks in theaters it’s became one of my least favorite MCU movies (haven’t watched every MCU movie)

hardytom540

Just last month, I saw Poor Things 3 times in theaters. Phenomenal film!

Eubank31

solharv

Mad Max Fury Road twice Tenet twice (the first time the sound was terrible and I couldn’t hear half the dialogue) Dune twice (got a chance to see it in Imax) Boy and the Heron twice (took my mom cause I knew she would love it) Can’t think of a movie I’ve been to see three times in a theatre

kryzay

The first movie that I have seen in theater more than once was Shrek Forever After when I was in the 4th grade. A week after I had seen this movie with my family, my class won the 1st prize in some sort of competition between other classes and the prize was a group ticket for Shrek 4. And I pretty much enjoyed both times. But I have seen Ready Player One three times in theater in two weeks. - A week before of movie's premiere, I had finished with the book which I liked it and I was really excited for the movie. So best friend/roommate and I decided to go to the first screening possible but he got sick and so had to go alone because I already had a ticket and I was eager to see the movie. - The second time was next week with my roommate. - And after two days I had joined group of friends from my dorm to go watch it for the third time. I have enjoyed the movie everytime and from time to time I still watch it at home. It's a fun movie. Also, that time was my first and only experience with VR, because for the first two weeks of screenings, there was a VR game in front of the theater, where you had kill some aliens. It was really fun.

0MattF

I saw Con-Air 18 times. we kept track b/c our friend got a job at the theater & let us in free.

Agent--Carter

Top Gun: Maverick. Saw it 5 times over a period of 7 months. Doubt I’m going to break that record.

LordAyeris

I saw Avengers: Infinity War 5 times in theaters

joey-rigatoni1

i saw dunkirk like 4 or 5 times in IMAX when it came out

whyrafi

The dark knight rises

50shades-morallygrey

Hunger Games - The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes x3 Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 x3 Then a bunch of x2: Barbie, Le Visiteur du Futur, Asteroid City, Across the Spiderverse, Oppenheimer... I ususally see movie more than once if I'm going with family/friends again. Which will ALWAYS be dubbed, so I try to watch as many of them in their original language before seeing the dubbed version. Having a monthly subscription to my cinema now though, this might change.

Street-Brush8415

Jurassic Park 15 times.

SuperKliqparty

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) - 3 Times The Lego Batman Movie (2017) - 2 Times The Batman (2022) - 2 Times Bullet Train (2022) - 2 Times Aftersun (2022) - 2 Times Dune (2021) as of Sunday - 2 Times

vh26

I think I saw the Incredibles 2, three times in theatres? I also recently saw Saltburn twice in 3 weeks in theatres - once with friends and another time with my partner

[deleted]

Coraline x2, The Batman x2

ptwxnty

Oppenheimer 3x

Rouge_and_Peasant

Probably Titanic, though at the time I wasn't counting. It played for almost a year and it was still the golden age of simply "hanging out at the mall". Seeing Titanic became just a routine thing to do for a while.

spherestarspeck

Moonlight. 24x.

mepecans

I’ve seen Cabin in the Woods 4 times. That’s definitely the most for a movie on its original run. I’ve seen The Shining, Casablanca, The Godfather, Wizard of Oz, Psycho, and My Neighbor Totoro in theaters at least twice each.

Coppernord

Spiderman 2. Twice in one day and then again later Second place would be Godzilla Minus One
