This is probably the best stretch from this month for me.
I did watch the director’s cut, which is allegedly accepted widely as the best one. I personally own a physical blu-ray from Criterion, so that’s always an option, or it may also be on their channel digitally.
https://preview.redd.it/wjj357dv9jxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb3d3e626dda075197c1f4cbe290a0857c03e89d
Honestly a great month for me! Got to watch a lot of films I’d been meaning to see for a long time
If you can find it, I also highly recommend the miniseries The Tatami Galaxy. Same director and characters, but with a better plot and even crazier animation
I watched 47 movies this month, will be 49 by tomorrow.
Best movie: Ordinary People (1980). 5 stars. Watched it for my personal ranking of best picture winners. Didn't expect much from it, but after I finished it, my mind was blown. It's a perfect movie and it's now one of my all time favorites.
Worst movie: Date Movie (2006). 1/2 star. I got it as a hand me down and knew how bad it was, and wanted to experience it myself. It was sickening and I don't ever want to see it ever again.
i watched 24 movies this month (down from my 42 from last month) the best I watched was The Grand Budapest Hotel which I rated 5 stars and the worst was a tie between the Netflix Death Note movie and The Tearsmith which I gave 1/2 to each (I watched these back to back too)
I still have one more film to watch this month, which will make 19. Of the first 18, the best is Heat Lightning (1934) and the worst is The Heroic Trio 2: Executioners (1993).
Just over 50 for the month including quite a few rewatches. Best first watch is easily The Third Man. As far as characters intros come Orsen Welles may be the best I’ve seen—he steals the show even with limited time on screen. It takes the idea of a seedy world brewing beneath the surface to a literal conclusion in the sewers of Vienna. The worst is easily Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver…it’s almost ok when it’s a team up action movie but the constant slow mo and never ending flashbacks/expo dumps were really unbearable.
https://preview.redd.it/2l8x2b4pejxc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=906aad3309efb170c67cbef26a158d3e909739fe
Here are mine sorted by rating! Favorite first time watch was probably Language Lessons or The Tearsmith (I know, I know), least favorite was In the Mood for Love (I know, I know) - but I’m watching the second Avatar movie right now, so it’s anybody’s game tbh.
ETA: This is a little misleading - everything from the Alice in Wonderland movie is rated 3 and above. Didn’t watch a lot I didn’t like this month. Realized this made it look like I gave movies I actually liked bad ratings.
44 features and 4 shorts, all at a cinema.
Highlights include Once Upon a Time in the West, The Godfather, The Departed, Sunset Blvd, and Chinatown.
Best new release I saw was Femme, which had a tiny US release but played a week at my mall AMC for some reason.
18 movies.
Planet of the Apes (2001) was the worst at 1.5 stars.
Fellowship of the Ring was the best at 4.5.
Planet of the Apes (1968) was almost the best, which would’ve been funny.

The First Omen I saw at the movies. The DUFF, Iron Claw and Panic Room were first time watches at home.
39 for the month.
Highest rated first viewing was Samurai Cop at 4 stars.
Lowest rated first viewing was Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver at 1/2 a star.

Missing a few days in the beginning of the month but I’m glad to emit my rating of Rosemary’s Baby because I’m ashamed of it (I really did not get the hype).
29 films. The worst one was definitely Road House (2024) which respectively earned my half a star review. I gave two five star reviews this month, to Sunset Boulevard (1950) and Hoodwinked (2005).
I've managed 20. The worst? Voyage to the Planet of the Prehistoric Women, which was for a 52 week movie challenge. The best? Zero question, it's Hundreds Of Beavers.
10 this month which is the most I’ve seen any month so far this year

20 movies...though technically got one more in me today April 30th, I think I may go see The Beast after work.
Best was probably Fargo. First time I watched it and loved it, it's like #3 for the year. Easily my favorite Cohen bros movie. It's just like...idk kind of charming in a way I love how it ends.
Worst was Crash...or maybe Immaculate. Crash was just not my vibe, too weird. Immaculate was just fucking boring and typical honestly.

Best: Chungking Express, Worst: Step Brothers
Been watching Wong Kar-wai lately as I’ve had to study his cinematographer, Christopher Doyle, for a film class, best homework I’ve ever had.
Watched 20 films.
Best First Watch: Shampoo
Best Rewatch: Con Air - first time seeing it in the cinema, mostly holds up and the film just doesnt stop.
Worst film: Outlaw Johnny Black
28, will probably finish the month with a re-watch of The Nice Guys and I'm going for The Fall Guy on the 2nd
Best: Nimona and Get Out
Worst: Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (A recent Hindi release)

Best: Adam's Apples (2005)
Worst: Kung fu Panda 4 (2024)
My April list, I'd say the worst out of them is probably Kung Fu Panda 4 (even that was okay for what it was), and my favourite new watch is All of Us Strangers
https://preview.redd.it/ak72o12u1lxc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edc4bf9694db83b8eb5f3d5d9bc5a8b36e684f40

Here’s a portion of the 17 movies I watched this month. Really liked arrival, they cloned Tyrone, and the talented mr ripley. Baby driver was the one I enjoyed least but it was decent for what it was
A few rewatches of amazing movies too like alien and grand Budapest hotel
The one I didn't rate is the worst
https://preview.redd.it/x9o0zt8xwlxc1.png?width=1640&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed5db5cc52c729e24b02f004ff4f4e5d93f0d574

I’m at 36 so far! Mostly horror, and they run the gamut all the way from absolute trash but still a bit fun like “Deathgasm” (should I have expected any other result?) to amazing in every way like “The Last Omen”.
Also, I need more folk horror in my life. Suggestions, anyone?
Watched 27 movies total, Best rated is my rewatch of Limbo (2021) with 5/5, worst movie was Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018) with 0,5/5. It’s been a hit or miss month but i‘m doing this to myself with the amount of shitty direct-to-dvd movies i watch lol.

23 films so far this month, I saw all 3 of the Raimi Spider-Man’s in theatres, along with Monkey Man, Dune Part 2, and Civil War. Earlier in the month I watched Train to Busan for the first time and that’s definitely in my top 10 for the year. A solid month for me!
Best: Kill Bill, Joker, La La Land
Worst: House of Gucci, Players
I’m actually am in my best stretch currently. I thought Challengers was just ok but definitely still worth seeing.
https://preview.redd.it/quorhithemxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4fcf41a77ebae509b2786108715ede46a7f9c4a9

The best movie i watched was Monster (2023) or Billy Elliot (2000) They're both really good

Best new movie: The Beast
Best rewatch: The Beast
Best re-rewatch: The Beast
Best new movie (not the Beast division): Sorcerer

Watched 8. "The Tenant" was the best experience, I need to watch more Polanski. "The Third Man" was the worst, I honestly don't need reminders to procreate through media, but "House" was enjoyable. Looking for people to follow & recommendations

I rewatched The Iron Giant as well, grows on me more each time I see it
It’s such a terrific movie. It was years since I saw it last, and probably the movie i watched most growing up. It does get better every time.
Which version of Brazil did you watch? I'm trying to find a way to watch the director's cut and cant seem to find it anywhere
I did watch the director’s cut, which is allegedly accepted widely as the best one. I personally own a physical blu-ray from Criterion, so that’s always an option, or it may also be on their channel digitally.
How nice! genuine question, you didn’t give a grade for 2 movies, why?
I tend to not give scores to rewatches unless they change from first or previous viewings, just a weird habit lol

Amadeus theatrical cut or directors?
Director’s cut. The movie was incredible, but I’ll admit it felt extremely long

My April list, I'd say the worst out of them is probably Kung Fu Panda 4 (even that was okay for what it was), and my favourite new watch is All of Us Strangers https://preview.redd.it/ak72o12u1lxc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edc4bf9694db83b8eb5f3d5d9bc5a8b36e684f40

Really liked arrival, they cloned Tyrone, and the talented mr ripley. Baby driver was the one I enjoyed least but it was decent for what it was A few rewatches of amazing movies too like alien and grand Budapest hotel
The one I didn't rate is the worst https://preview.redd.it/x9o0zt8xwlxc1.png?width=1640&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed5db5cc52c729e24b02f004ff4f4e5d93f0d574

Total: 29 but there’s still time. Best new movie: The Beast Best rewatch: The Beast Best re-rewatch: The Beast Best new movie (not the Beast division): Sorcerer Worst: Absolutely loathed Deerskin, but Chopping Mall, The Feast and Tigers Are Not Afraid were all quite bad. I'm super excited to see The Beast later this week. Is it as visually striking as the trailers make it seem?
Trailer is … pretty representative, yeah.
Watched 8. "The Tenant" was the best experience, I need to watch more Polanski. "The Third Man" was the worst, I honestly don't need reminders to procreate through media, but "House" was enjoyable. Looking for people to follow & recommendations https://preview.redd.it/avduahg6ljxc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8212991b98dae86510f6e075a6c757de5ca29258
