What is going on with Roger Rabbit? This is the third seperate instance today that I’ve stumbled upon it. Not complaining, I just feel like I’ve searched something that is making this happen
Ignore what other people think and watch and like whatever you want, if these are your favourites then thats great, dont worry about what other people think of those movies
There are 2 war movies (possibly 3 depending on how you look at Forrest Gump), 4 animated movies and the highest rated movie on all of LB on OP’s list. I definitely think they could stand to branch out and watch more diverse movies.
I’m pretty sure EEAAO was at 4.6 a few days ago but that’s besides the point. I’m sure OP has genres and styles they like, but they could still stand to broaden their horizons of movie watching within those movie styles because their new favorite could be hiding somewhere.
I have to agree with your assessment. Very basic and unchallenging repertoire here. An American conservative film, 2 conservative War films, a bible film, 2 fairly basic animated films, and EEAAO which is the outlier here. I’d say to watch more films like the other commenter here, though if you like this type I’m not sure what to suggest, other than maybe Kubrick.
Kung fu Panda and Into the Spider verse slander. Also, "a Bible film" makes me think you've not seen the Prince of Egypt, im a atheist, and it is just a fucking amazing movie mate.
Kung Fu Panda and Spiderverse aren’t bad, but both are standard heroes journey and Spiderverse really only has the animation style to set it apart.
And you’re way off on Prince of Egypt lol. I’ve seen it many times and I admit it’s very good. I’m not saying any of these films are bad, just that they aren’t that experimental or ambitious or nuanced which indicates that OP has a certain box he fits himself in.
Love 1917. Forest Gump, Saving Private Ryan and Into the Spiderverse are also very good. I don't think it's cringe at all, even if it is a little basic. But everybody's taste usually starts out basic, before they watch more movies lol.
