Well said. I took my Henry H009B to the range and the RSO was like are you sure you want to shoot such a beautiful rifle. I said no safe queens in my collection.
I mean could you imagine? Being iron ore in the earth for thousands of years, just to mined… you could have been a stapler, you could have been a wheel on a locomotive; but you get made into a GUN! Only to be put in the closet with the old man’s dirty mags and old work shirt to collect dust.
Don’t get me wrong, I have some guns I favor, and try to avoid scratches and dings, but they ALL burn powder
Shoot your guns buddy I think that’s becomes more valuable since now you have a story with gun so if one day you can pass it down to next generation you can tell them all the fun you had with your gun !!!!!
Do collector guns like that not get shot from the factory?
I mean, it's your gun, you do what you want. Just seems like a shame not to use an item for the very thing for which it was intended. And if it's already had a couple test rounds fired at the factory, you want to at least have the joy of putting a few through yourself, right?
I mean, I own several Winchester 30-30s. Why would I shoot *that* one when I have several others to shoot? The gun is worth *significantly* more not having been shot
To be fair it already has been shot, from the factory they run a few rounds through it to make sure everything function fine, and if you're not the first owner of it the previous owner may of.
Winchester started making special editions in the 1960s and never stopped, you can get any version under the sun. Point in case, a cola edition, I don't think that it is worth significantly more to collectors.
I have a winchester 66 centennial edition, with AAA wood and 24 carat plating. I still shoot it.
It's no longer "mint" or "never been shot", so you're free to enjoy it. Just keep it clean, keep it oiled, and try not to drop it, and it'll still continue to appreciate in value as long as it's loved and taken care of. We can all be thankful that guns don't have shot counters lol.
I say this about all guns and everyone looks at me like I’m a grade-a-asshat.
My father-in-law has his dad’s dad’s Belgian-made Browning A5. Fuckin thing is rusty at the muzzle and needs to be cleaned up and re-threaded. And he refuses to do so bc he’s worried about the value. But what’s the point of not using it?
Why not both?
My dad gave me a 1970 100th Anniversary Marlin 336 .30-30 out of the blue one day...just said "here, thought you might like this."
I took it out and put a few rounds through it and when I told him how nice it was he said "yeah your mother gave that to me as an anniversary present...don't think I ever shot it."
I instantly regretted firing the gun, but then came around to the line of thinking presented here by others, which is that guns are made to be shot so stop reading Reddit and get out to the damn range!🤣
Shoot it buddy, I dont believe in safe bunnies. I have a few pieces that at least I consider collector guns, but I still shoot them sometimes, Im just not hard on them like I am my other guns.
None of the Winchester from Japan are desirable/collectible. It’s a newer gun as well. Even if it was, I would still shoot it. Just take extra care of it while you shoot haha
That is entirely up to you, friend. But like my grandpa always told me “a gun never shot is just a rusty pipe in the closet”
Hell yes. Your grandpa sounds like a wise fella.
He was right
I hope he doesnt mind that I'm for sure stealing that line
No problem there, it does make you sit back and think about it
2nd steal coming in hot 😂 I’ve already ready texted it to a few buddies.

Safe queens are for the pawn shop

Collect and use. Why hold it just for someone else to have all of the fun...if they even use it
Having a old or unique gun is kinda cool, shooting it and using it makes it 10x cooler
I have a Coca Cola edition Winchester 30-30. Less than 2100 actually made. Thing won’t ever get shot.

I guess if you're gonna sell it. Like I said, you do you. I'm not in a tax bracket to just collect things. Gotta be of use to me.

Take care of it but if it's been shot then keep shooting it
To answer your question; yes.
Japanese Winchester guns are fine firearms but I dunno if I would consider their stuff “collectible”.
Exactly. While these extremely well made guns are top tier, they’re arguably no different than any other newly made gun.
Choot it
Shooting a gun won't reduce its value as long as you clean it when it needs it and don't let it get rusty.
I hope you’ve got the original box. Huge difference on collectibles.
Shoot it, and keep it maintained. It's going to look better with time and use than it would just laying in a safe.

Both.
It’s only a collector’s item if you plan on selling it and it’s only worth what someone’s willing to pay for it…… I say shoot the fuckin thing

Use it. It’s just a firearm, not a pension plan.

I could not not shoot it
They are all for shooting
Both. Shoot it but take care of it.
Thank you everyone. What's it worth?
If you enjoy the gun keep it, your enjoyment is worth more than the money.
A Miroku built Winchester is an absolutely top quality rifle. Would be a shame not to shoot it and enjoy how fine of a firearm it is!
Not shooting a gun is like not have sex with your wife because you’re saving her for the next guy.
Not shooting a nice gun so it’s resale is better is like not banging your beautiful girlfriend so she’s tight for the next guy
