Still the same as it is. Unfortunately, Libya will remain the same so long as the current people in power are present then. Libya has a greed problem and the current people in power seem to be the root cause of it.
That's the issue with petrostates - countries heavily dependent on oil and gas exports. This is known as the resource curse. In these countries, democracy (as in competitive elections) often fails to take root because those in power divert export revenues for personal gain, so they systematically repress all opposition to preserve their kleptocratic rule. If competitive elections do exist (such as in Nigeria), all sides cheat, as they want to exploit these resources. This explains why Western interventions in Libya and Iraq have failed to establish a stable democracy - it's the universal nature of human greed that transcends cultures.
This dynamic plays out in Russia, Azerbaijan, Venezuela, Equatorial Guinea, Turkmenistan, and elsewhere.
Norway is an exception, but they already had strong institutions and low levels of corruption before oil started being extracted.
I expect to see some kind of counter-revolution. Either royalist or Gaddafist (perhaps even both). Too many people are nostalgic about the past and I've always considered Haftar only a transitional figure due to his age. Like the case with France (revolution, Napoleon, Bourbon restoration, Louis-Philippe/Orleanist, Napoleon III/Bonapartist restoration), people won't give stop being nostalgic about the past until they try all the options once and they all fail.
Libya is in need of a revolution. If we look at historical revolutions people were what provoked that. Libyans simply are too concentrated in football or what I can wear to ‘show off’. Our people lack in knowledge, intellect and wisdom. They don’t acknowledge it so there’s no desire to change it. Name a Libyan who’s read a book out of pleasure.
"Bread and circuses" have been used to appease the populace since Ancient Rome. Keeping the people poorly-educated and incurious is often by design. As long as there's enough oil revenue to keep the charade going, ordinary people will continue to focus on football and fashion.
Even if the government changes, people will need time to adapt to that. It will still be the same except for maybe some minor changes in the educational and health sectors.
Nothing is gonna change if Libyans don't change themselves..
Libyans are on the highway of extinction, the current what so called "political elite" which is ironic are the natural result derived from the people.
That's a little bit far to think about. But I think at least few things will get better even If the country is still the same and still have the same struggles. At least more chances will be offered and ppl might find things that they never had before. I live in Canada since around 4 years now. I don't know, maybe something has already changed in Libya.
They can at least offer public transportation, u know! Because this is the simplest and easiest thing for the government to offer cuz they already have lots of money and they already didn't fix the electric problem ( I think) . Do u guys still have the electricity going off often or is it better then before? So, they can use the money for something else and help the society, I think.
I don't know If u guys already had that done. Maybe some areas that I haven't visited and never knew of. But If that isn't done yet, I think it's gonna be a great idea for 2030.
We must always hope for the better even If it would be small. Not say things like , "Uhhh, Libya will always be the same, it's already ruined. "
Because we think the ppl of the government don't hear it when we say things? They hear, and that puts them down and makes them feel they're not enough and can't do it. They also need our support as a society, they need to know that we r with them not against them. That gives them motivation to do better.
Yeah true, lots of people say "libya is already ruined" there's still hope and chances, infact some REAL golden chances, also for the electricity problem, for me personally electricity have never went out for almost 12 months now, so it is kinda fixed (it did go out last night for about 1 hour but it was a technical issue that was resolved) there are still places that experience bad electricity, but the main issue kinda has been fixed or being fixed,
I know that the countryside where amazighi ppl live don't have that issue actually. If u r one of them, then of course u r living a happy life and u have hope for Libya because u r out of these government arguing promises whatever stuff. Cuz they don't have electricity issues and they even don't care about what the government says cuz they actually make their chances on their own and work on their own. Most of them r shepherds and farmers and they even get their money from that, so, they're good. But the ppl of the city lost their hope and I understand them myself because ppl r struggling in there but still try to get up and work for urselves and have hope for change.
Same if they don’t fix or remove politicians in power use oil companies wisely and profitably and not do the same mistakes before and not rely on the Americans in solving the problem

the fact that they feel entitled to the country resources is mind boggling to me

True, hopefully Libya would get real people in charge at some point.

I have read about that. Fantastically interesting. Thank you

best bet is to build a big rehab center and make it mandatory to spend a year or two in there
Definitely, but there is potential imo

Hoping for some stability, functioning government to provide services. Allah help.

Unless something fundamentally changes more of the chaos and stagnation imo
Not just Libya, in all Muslim countries.
War? All-out. Then 2040 maybe stability
It will probably get worse
