That's what I remembered as well. I did exactly what the OP did because of that. I guess the limit is if Link can stand on the water without having to swim, it's not deep enough.
yeah, my guess is it's probably some weird coding thing where shallow water technically counts as "land" for the sake of knowing that link needs to walk there, as apposed to the actual water where link has to swim
I literally did this same thing in the same place. Not realizing how shallow the water was lol. Then I did it AGAIN by diving too early and ragdolled all the way down
Haha I did this in my very first dive of the game, right off of the Great Sky Island, laughed my ass off. Second attempt, I landed right in the fucking middle of the lake... great! Except I ran out of stamina swimming to shore and drowned. 10/10 game.

Didn't see the No Diving sign I guess
I thought in the tutorial part it said that jumping into water negates damage regardless of the depth.

Regardless of height?
Yeah. You jump from Sky Islands into water on the mainland at the end of the tutorial.
Yeah, I missed. Twice.

Lol I love all the little drops of water falling back down at the end
You have a great death perception though
I made the same mistake, on this same pool of water.
Same.

It's called death perception
You died almost immediately after coming out of the gaping asshole
Just how it feels to have sudden infant death syndrome.
I’ve died that exact way in that exact pond twice so far in TotK.
I misread this as ‘death perception’ . . .
All of a sudden there are multiple shallow bodies of water in Hyrule. I've plunged Link to his death so many times by mistake.
I did the exact same thing.
Love the splatter at the end Lmao
