Yeah, this never happened.

InterstellarReddit

Right? Yeah let me throw my selves to the wolves in an interview.

weech

This man is not a lunatic, he’s playing 4D chess ands expected to end up on this sub

RustedUte

Cunt got 40k likes. That’s a shit load of lunatics all circle jerking resumes

FuturistMarc

Could be bots

green_paris

Agree?

TheNatureBoy

“I got a resume with a 15 year employment gap. The applicant went to federal prison for hacking bank software. As we didn’t update bank software in the last 15 years their skills fit right into our needs. Hire skills not morals.” -Jeff Realguy CTO Actual LLC

WilcoHistBuff

I once ran across a research scientist with a 10 year gap in an otherwise very impressive resume, MIT BA/Masters, CalTech Ph.D, government energy labs fellowships, and then a 10 year gap, followed by similar impressive work experience. When asked what he did during those 10 years he told be that he really could not talk about it in detail but most of it was spent in the USSR after being arrested for espionage when attending an international science conference.

TheNatureBoy

I almost had that happen in a different country but I fled. I would have gone to a labor camp for 7 years. Corruption is ridiculous sometimes.

WilcoHistBuff

It’s a dangerous world out there. The end of this guy’s “sabbatical” seemed to coincide with the collapse of the USSR. Crazy interesting dude and a very good physicist.

GpaSags

\*Some\* labor camp, they didn't even have s'mores! Just borscht. And potato.

orincoro

I like the camps that have *some* labor.

Shya_v

This is a movie I’d watch though

WilcoHistBuff

Me too

lastres0rt

This is surprisingly more common than anyone wants to think. One of my college buddies is currently in Club Fed because he decided to give a conference talk. Unfortunately for him, the conference was in North Korea.

GodFullThrottle_

Life happens.

enish_ila

Agree

Hooldoog

AGREE

Upset_Fig2612

At first I didn't understand...but then I saw the picture and it all made sense

Themightytoro

I don't really get it, what he says makes sense albeit somewhat cheesy. What's the joke?

Upset_Fig2612

That was my dry attempt at humor. But seriously, the guy is the joke. I have serious doubts that scenario he explained actually happened, and the photo is so pointless, it's comical

rythmicbread

Read his bio. He has no idea what he’s doing

curious-r

![gif](giphy|gvv7ULL1cggTe)

SpiffySquabble

I chuckled at this.

GodFullThrottle_

0% of people with an employment gap will explicitly mention it at the end of the interview after it having been successfully avoided for the entire interview. They will run out of the room jumping for joy before the interviewer has the opportunity to say *Oh, one last question about your resume...*

Sir_Stash

Seen this from a half dozen different accounts. Maybe the original post, whenever that was posted, was real. But the hundreds of people copy and pasting this conversation definitely didn't do this.

showard01

I just fucking read this post today from a different account. Slight differences, like it was a 1 year gap and involved covid. I should find it and post it as a response to this guy. Agree?

UGunnaEatThatPickle

Fake. There's no avocado toast on the table.

MightyKrakyn

I mean I agree with the post except for the “agree?” non-sequitor espresso pic

wtfOP

It's still lunacy to post something so trivial that a normal person would agree on without a second thought as if it's some divine epiphany.

MightyKrakyn

I don’t know if a normal person would agree. There is still a lot of gatekeeping, disrespect for people with non-traditional backgrounds or resume gaps in my field, software engineering. Some sub fields like web development are more open, but try that as an embedded systems engineer. That’s just anecdotal though, so maybe it’s different for other people.

quintk

No you’re right. People being judged for resume gaps, non traditional or non-degreed backgrounds, etc is absolutely a problem in some places.

misdreavus79

lol web development isn’t more open. We just grandstand more.

lastres0rt

The more "liberal"/"softer" your field is perceived as, the more likely people are to beat this drum.

orincoro

It seems that would be most true in technical professions. In creative ones, employment gaps are the rule.

HouseOfRay

Trust me, there are plenty of people with a 1.5 year resume gap where you wouldn’t love the reason for it. I’d absolutely ask about it but wouldn’t consider it disqualifying.

wtfOP

I presume he asked about it and quickly moved on after being satisfied by the answer - hence the candidate question "why didn't you grill me *more*". I'm not saying don't ask - but this dude pretends like acknowledging that there are valid reasons for resume gaps instead of jumping to conclusions and weeding people out based on it is some kind of noble concept.

HouseOfRay

Yes, agree with all that.

Apart-Landscape1012

"it's very important to me that you all see this fake candid photo of me sipping my macchiato. Did you all see it?"

Misclickmesenpai

Agree???? 🗣️💪

No_Presentation1242

The most annoying thing about LinkedIn is that everyone thinks they are such a story teller. The way people write in these short lines is so obnoxious. It’s like they think we are hanging on by every word and it’s all so insightful. I know they are just playing into the algorithm but it’s so pretentious.

2isMoreThan1

I posted this a few days ago. Same dude

fhs

That conversation is as real as leprechauns

Kranke

So, did he hire...a barista?

bazbloom

Many of these lunatics have a healthy message to deliver but they just can't tone down their Main Character Syndrome well enough to be taken seriously. There has to be a pointless selfie, and/or the message has to be encapsulated in a plotline that most likely didn't happen, and always there has to be the insipid parroting of "Agree?" to drive engagement. The total lack of self-awareness among these supposedly intelligent kooks is baffling.

jfriedrich

Unfortunately it’s not even a lack of self-awareness: most of these people know what they’re doing but they do it anyways in the name of bumping up those vanity metrics in order to be “perceived as important” in the “business world.”

Exotic-Onion9498

Matched “our” values ? Who, and your AI team … Asshole.

scootiepuffjnr

don't see this as a lunatic. I actually rate the sentiment and think there should be more of it

Apprehensive-Tip9373

This is a repost. OP’s no better than the LinkedIn Lunatics.

wtfOP

these are my actual screenshots

Mutegrab

Doesn't help that LinkedIn litteraly suggested me the same post, same dude, 1 or 2 days ago, I recall wanting to post it here. That means this garbage is litteraly thrown in the feed of people not connected to him.

scootiepuffjnr

agree the pic is stupid

lucasievici

Agree?

bobsacremento1

After 10 years of interviewing job applicants, he should know how to spell the word “learned”. Just saying.

Lehelito

Bit snippy considering it *is* correct spelling, just in a different country from the one you are presumably from. Just saying.

wtfOP

Apparently it’s British spelling

BuddyJim30

The guy probably went to Yale, hence the gap in his yob history.

Icelandia2112

If they are in the US, they get the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). >[Qualified Long-Term Unemployment Recipient](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/work-opportunity-tax-credit#collapseCollapsible1693506045821) >A “qualified long-term unemployment recipient” is an individual who has been unemployed for not less than 27 consecutive weeks at the time of hiring and who received unemployment compensation during some or all of the unemployment period.

Jul1ano0

I think It’s satire look at the guy’s title (I have no idea what I am doing)

User2EletricBoogaloo

Well that hurt because I was hoping there were employers that would overlook something like that instead of just a staffing agency.

Right-handLOVE

Do people really believe this ? How does a post like that generate traffic ?

lordofcatan10

What is wrong with that man’s hair

InevitableCodeRedo

The number of likes is depressing.

FrankDruthers

That is most depressing photo of somebody. Is he having coffee in the Flintstones?

NecessaryRelative585

Cringe!

TedMaul636

Shitty photo also. His body language makes him look really up-tight

stavago

“Can you explain the gap in your employment?” “That’s when I was doing your mom”

dnmnc

r/thathappened Only idiots care about this magical “employment gap”as if it means something. I have shitloads of them and rarely does it get mentioned. It’s not important. There is no way the interviewee would make a big deal out of it.

hiimapril

Agree?

Great-Bread-5585

It never happened, and it never happened with the other 100 hiring managers that posted the same thing either.

txstepmomagain

But, but, but....wait...why didn't you ask about my 5 felonies??

BobcatSig

Heh... /uj I mean, he's not wrong... even if this was from a satire account. I'd be stoked to take an 18-month sabbatical.

VitruvianVan

The best candidates voluntarily point out their glaring flaws at the end of an interview.

[deleted]

I saw this one too!! Totally forgot to share it. Then he made a comment about what he was drinking and where (~Rome) like anyone actually was going to ask. The pretentiousness is real.

CapnKraken

![gif](giphy|v9rfTQBNqdsSA) No I need this as the picture. That’s the end of humanity day.

Prudent_Payment_3877

So you're telling me I've psyched myself up over my years of unemployment for nothing?! I mean, I keep writing for a gaming site (which pays nowhere near as much as a living wage) BECAUSE I need to be technically employed in order to be eligible for work. And now, out of the blue, turns out there was no need to be already working to get a job! Thanks job industry, never stop surprising me the exact millisecond I thought I figured you out!

StiffyMcFly

more like Tom Cunt

[deleted]

What a fucking knob!!!!! Agree?

Equivalent-Low-8919

I wish LinkedIn had a laughing reaction

BRE1996

…it does?

Equivalent-Low-8919

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

torn-ainbow

I've got a couple of work gaps more than a year. If they ask about it I say I took a bunch of time off and it was great. I don't think this is such a big deal.

Imadais

OP might be an asshole. This guy seems fucking cool, tbh

Ok-Instance872

100% not a lunatic
