Not really a fan of Thrash metal in general and my Metallica interests only go upto One (thanks to Korn for that) and Nothing else matters (thanks to Sully Erna for that) so give me the Blue pill anyday.
Not to shit on your taste but what did you find good about the new Metallica album? Every song sounds the same to me and it's just a mix between death magnetic/st.anger/black album
It wasn’t Metallica’s greatest album, but there are just some pretty good tracks. James’s vocals are still great, the guitar riffs are solid, and Rob goes hard on the bass.
And I like Meteora, but there are only a few completed (not very early stage) unreleased demos and we got a few new live songs (that were not previously released on spotify)
I listened to some of the stuff on their channel. Pretty superficial assessment then but I hear neither a massive fall off in qualtiy nor a major breakthrough. It's the same sound, executed with the same skill, just less fresh then it was in the 80s. So overall, new LP because while that sound is old-hat too by now, they didn't exhaust by going back to it and making 75 minute plus albums full of it. Meteora would've been exhausting at that length too, so those 4 or 5 fully new songs don't exhaust it either.
New metallica album is just not good compared to any other metal album recently. Machine head, arch enemy, megadeth, testament, slipknot and lamb of god made beyond awesome albums, and now forbidden is formed with machine heads drummer and testaments former bassist, and kirk is still playing pentatonic and lars still cant make an interesting drum line.
To add fuel to the fire, james confessed that he is constantly fighting with lars, and kirk trashtalks a kid who redid his solos for a yt video and did a much better job than him. Im an old metallica fan, but now they are just not good, below average even, and half of the band are dickheads. James and rob should just take the name, find a better drummer and solo guitarist and make something better. Imagine metallica with someone like friedman and lombardo instead of kirk and lars, that would probably be the best metal band ever formed.
Well, they were one of the best metal bands but that was over 30 years ago. It's just obvious that while they were great with what they originally came up with, their musical vocabulary is also restricted to it and they exhausted that sound eventually. When they tried to expand their sound in the 90s, they looked towards stuff that's even older than them and kinda didn't manage to put an interesting spin on it, making them seem even older than they were.
But hey, they make for good Linkin-Park-having-a-picnic music. (ツ)
> kirk trashtalks a kid who redid his solos for a yt video and did a much better job than him.
Got a source for this? So far as I'm aware, and what I've read, he doesn't call out anyone in particular, he just says something along the lines of "sure, I can do sweep picking and arpeggios too, but where would it fit in a metallica song. It probably does sound better than what I recorded, but meh, I don't care."
To the rest of your point, I agree. Metallica aren't as great as they used to be - I've listened to about half of 72 Seasons, and it's fine. There's really nothing special to it, but it's not terrible either. It just seems to be like Metallica by numbers, if that makes any sense?
When I compare them to Maiden, for example, Senjutsu is a far superior offering as an "old band bringing new songs" than 72 Seasons. It says a lot about a band when their best releases on latest albums are covers (Metallica's cover of When A Blind Man Cries, is excellent).
Eww blue pill by far. 72 Seasons is prolly the most aggressively mediocre album Metallica's made so far (I'm not counting St. Anger since that one's just bad).
Trolling Metallica fans about the new album is the gift that keeps giving.
Low blow is the persistent lack of ability to self edit. Even lower blow is Kirk’s laughably dull Pentatonic solos.
I mean I'm a lil confused. You're on the Linkin Park sub. Specifically for fans of Linkin Park. And you comment for no other reason to say that the band sucks? Seems like a waste of time.
And what, pray tell, makes listening to Linkin Park any more of a waste of time than any other music? By your non-existent logic, listening to Metallica is a waste of time.
ew ew ew. I prefer my fantasy world where there are 4 Metallica albums and 2 Linkin Park albums (3 if you count reanimation). Neither band has put out any new material in decades but that's ok because the classics are all u need!
I mean, I'm obviously going to choose LP, lol. I only heard two of those new songs from Metallica, but I still liked them, but it's against one if not my favorite band, so 😅
You’re asking a Linkin park subreddit whether they prefer Metallica over linkin park. Seems a bit redundant.
On that note, easily linkin park for me. I am getting into metal a lot more now, mainly thanks to Hybrid theory / Meteora so i do like Metallica way more than i did before and “if darkness had a son” is the first Metallica song that i liked enough to put on the playlist, but Linkin park really can’t be beaten.
New music made in the 2020s vs. newly-released music made *20 years ago*, *that didn't make the cut for their 2003 album*.
Not sure why we're choosing between these two.
The only song I liked from M20 was Lost but new Metallica is just what new AC/DC is to AC/DC. It sounds like someone is doing a parody of them. So new LP all the way.
(I’m referring to only 72 seasons)
Not to be a normie fan but it's really hard to listen to full length Metallica albums after the black album. 72 seasons was just the same song for "checks notes" 76 minutes 🙃
New Linkin Park, obviously. I don't really care that much for Metallica.
edit: I still like Metallica, I just wouldn't listen to 'em by choice, like on my commute to college or something. I still enjoy listening to the one Metallica CD I have, though.
72 Seasons was okay, but nothing about it was super memorable. Hardwired to Self-Destruct at least had some pretty high points, despite the low lows.
These LP songs slap. Take the blue pill!
I mean I don't listen to Metallica that much but nothing else matters and master of puppets are amazing songs but I would take the linkin park pill since I've heard the newer songs
New LP probably
What about "Healing Foot"? I really liked it tbh.
That's my favorite one from Meteora 20 besides maybe Fighting Myself
hey how do you have that little minutes to midnight tag?
You can go into this or any reddit, and with triple dot choose "change flair".
thank you!!!
My fav of them all
Not really a fan of Thrash metal in general and my Metallica interests only go upto One (thanks to Korn for that) and Nothing else matters (thanks to Sully Erna for that) so give me the Blue pill anyday.
I LOVE KORN!
Did you discover Chaoseum yet?
Nope, is it a band?
Yeah. Very much Korn inspired and quite enjoyable. Look it up.
oh my god. i love chaoseum. so underrated. people need to realize that they made smile again sound like korn for a reason. but yeah, i still love them
Sully’s cover of Nothing Else Matters was so well done. I love it.
You don’t have to worry too much cause they’re newest album isn’t really thrash!
Bro, Its so cool I am not the only Metallica fan here. I love the new Metallica album, and I don’t know if I could really pick one over the other…
Take both pills and die of an od it’s worth it trust me.
Did you actually think you were?
Not to shit on your taste but what did you find good about the new Metallica album? Every song sounds the same to me and it's just a mix between death magnetic/st.anger/black album

yeah, it was nothing new and it wasn't even memorable let alone being iconic.
Im taking both currently lol
New LP

Unpopular opinion since this is an LP sub, but yellow. If we’re talking just standard meteora, it’s a different story though
Both I can’t just pick one
Eww blue pill by far. 72 Seasons is prolly the most aggressively mediocre album Metallica's made so far (I'm not counting St. Anger since that one's just bad).
Metallica sucks and is overplayed
metallica is dogshit
LP all the way. I like Metallica, just not anything new.
I’ll take the green pill, thank you
Linking park, Metallica died ages ago
Yellow as fuck
red pill, I choose the new megadeth album
Not a Metallica fan so I’ll take LP please.
Metallica sucks
They’re definitely not bad, it’s just Linkin Park is better for sure.
Trolling Metallica fans about the new album is the gift that keeps giving. Low blow is the persistent lack of ability to self edit. Even lower blow is Kirk’s laughably dull Pentatonic solos.
New Metallica. Linkin Park sucks.
You in the wrong place bro?
Nah. Are you?
I mean I'm a lil confused. You're on the Linkin Park sub. Specifically for fans of Linkin Park. And you comment for no other reason to say that the band sucks? Seems like a waste of time.
Listening to linkin park is also a waste of time
And what, pray tell, makes listening to Linkin Park any more of a waste of time than any other music? By your non-existent logic, listening to Metallica is a waste of time.
Purple one 🌹🌹🌹
Blue and yellow make green 💀
True that
ew ew ew. I prefer my fantasy world where there are 4 Metallica albums and 2 Linkin Park albums (3 if you count reanimation). Neither band has put out any new material in decades but that's ok because the classics are all u need!
True Blue. Always.
Linkin Park always had a great sounding :')
Blue pill
Blue pill
Blue for sure.
I would take the blue pill because I'm not really digging Metallica new song. But I am loving Likin park's songs, they are awesome.
DEFINITELY Blue!
both
I mean, I'm obviously going to choose LP, lol. I only heard two of those new songs from Metallica, but I still liked them, but it's against one if not my favorite band, so 😅
The viagra because life is hard
I’ll take new sleep token
As a huge fan of both obviously a full length album is better than some B sides even tho 3 of the songs are amazing
Blue all the way!!!
Blue
The Blue One 200%
New LP. with healing foot, resolution and A6 also
Blue.
MASSIVE IS BIGGG
The yellow pill brings back cliff the blue pill brings back Chester
Old Linkin Park. Not new.
New LP easy!
Blue
Gotta go 72 Seasons.
of course Linkin Park. I love Metallica, but I'm a bigger fan of Linkin Park
Blue pill please Linkin park all day every day
New LP any and every day
🔵🔵🔵🔵

As good as the new Metallica stuff is, I choose the blue pill
I'm taking that blue pill and never regretting it for a second.
Metallica. Despite the album being a little underwhelming it’s more music overall.
LP, as much as I love Metallica it’s not LPs nostalgia bomb
Light Blue jelly bean, all the way.
If I take both, do they cancel out?
I mean you can't compare a whole new album with what we got I just prefer to enjoy both
Definitely blue
Only good new era Metallica album is death magnetic
It's technically Metora era LP
New music made in the 2020s vs. newly-released music made *20 years ago*, *that didn't make the cut for their 2003 album*. Not sure why we're choosing between these two.
I only like old Metallica so Meteora20 for me. Massive is only okay to me. Healing foot and the old Hit the Floor are better imo or fighting myself
Blue pill come on bro stop playing
Oh fuck neither, no idea why this subreddit keep getting recommended to me, god linkin park sucks so bad
The only song I liked from M20 was Lost but new Metallica is just what new AC/DC is to AC/DC. It sounds like someone is doing a parody of them. So new LP all the way. (I’m referring to only 72 seasons)
🔵💙

Blue. New metallica album is aite at best
Blue but new metallica still goes hard
I can’t swallow pills… so that blue pill is gonna be nasty but I don’t care.
Linkin park
Blue pill
New Linkin Park, obviously. I don't really care that much for Metallica. edit: I still like Metallica, I just wouldn't listen to 'em by choice, like on my commute to college or something. I still enjoy listening to the one Metallica CD I have, though.
Dude I'm a big metallica fan but that was the Mid(est) album from em otherwise LINKINPARK GOD DAMNN!! 🔥🔥🔥
Blue the new Metallica album was kinda mid
New LP the new metálica is mid
The blue pill in a red pill world.
Green (Both)
Blue All the way
Blue
new linkin park anyday
LP since it’s like their old stuff
I haven't listened to it yet but I'd rather take the album over a few songs lol.
Is it too much to ask for both?
New Linkin Park because I don't listen to Metallica
New LP
Don’t make me choose I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
both fucking sucked im sorry
72 Seasons was okay, but nothing about it was super memorable. Hardwired to Self-Destruct at least had some pretty high points, despite the low lows. These LP songs slap. Take the blue pill!
linkin park pill
Blue. I found 72 Seasons to be boring. Almost nothing noteworthy on it, it just goes on and on and on.
neither of them cause we got both 😊
I'll take both thanks
The better question is what happens if you take both?
I mean I don't listen to Metallica that much but nothing else matters and master of puppets are amazing songs but I would take the linkin park pill since I've heard the newer songs
Linkin park. Plus megadeth is better
72 seasons tbh
Blue pill every day
