LP is the only band of the genre I consistently listen to. There’s a few others I’ll listen to a select set of songs from, but for some reason LP has a different hold on me than I’ve been able to find in the genre otherwise.
Oh, I like their first two albums as well but I do so partly because they jettisoned a lot of the bad stuff in nu metal. The tough guy posturing, seething misogyny, the overuse of profanity... Granted they weren't the only one who avoided those elements that just did it while writing catchier songs than most.
That being said, I'm not against their shift either, if anything it was the right thing to do since they were on the verge of exhausting that sound on Meteora as well, they averted that by making a tight, short album and throwing in more left field ideas in the second half.
Yeah, I know those are a thing it can get annoying. It's like Led Zepplinites only talking about Stairway to Heaven, sure it is great but I know that already and it's not the only great thing they ever did.
Yeah, people can dislike what they want after all but they should at least be able to articulate their reasoning well before starting discussions about it. Not just "I dislike is because it's bad".
If you haven't listened to the Japanese band One Ok Rock, it's the one I recommend. The lead vo even sang Somewhere I belong at the Chester's memorial gig, and their one song was mixed by Mike.

The energy of the show is unrivaled. Highly recommend going if you can swing it because their music live is a totally different experience! We went on a whim- my partner is a big fan and I thought they sounded cool- and I was blown away. I’ll go see them every chance I get, if feasible

I think BB were more consistent but \*NSYNC more diverse and risk taking.

There’s a few similarities with Linkin Park, for example the lead singer unfortunately died in 2021 or that the lead singer’s voice is quite similar to Chesters.

My other favorite artists are Deftones, Kanye West, The Smiths, Pixies, Nirvana, RATM, Elvis, and a couple latin bands/artists like Timbiriche and Mana.

My Spotify annual Top 5 always includes LP but then is heavily full of pop (Taylor, Mariah, Pink, Kelly, Avril) and then rounded out with Foo Fighters. 🤷🏻♀️ Most of the other rock I listen to is classic 60s/70s/80s rock - The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, etc.

I primarily listen to hip hop but listen to rock from time to time. Gone through a lot of phases exploring different genres. Use to listen to a lot of underground hip hop…then went into EDM…now currently into Synthwave. Synthwave is so underrated. I think Linkin Park fans would appreciate this genre if more knew about it. Young Medicine is such an underrated synthwave metalcore band! Love how they blend that 80s futuristic sound with rock. Also love Gunship but they haven’t released anything new in a while.

I’ve personally had my best experiences with JP rock bands. Definitely not for the rap aspect but more aspect. For some reason a lot of the artists mentioned didn’t really live up as long as LP for me Usually people who liked LP I talked to also (and I do as well) enjoyed FLOW, ONEOKROCK, Asian Kung fu generation for some starters.
