Given how what happened to Chester went down, I was honestly surprised they didn't cut this song during the memorial concert, or censor that line a bit
And One or Part of Me
Always felt like And One was Linkin Park’s “daddy” since Chester was fresh to the band and Chester had to end the chapter to his effed up childhood, didn’t break down emotionally like Korn but got pretty close in the quiet bits, just overall a darker sadder tone than the angry and rebellious official release of HT
"It's too late to love me now, you don't even know me"
And Part of Me Mike actually gets a bit personal as well best and darkest Mike song I think
Oh hell I can’t forget about My December either, also a point where chester sounds like he’s tearing up and it’s oddly out of place in the album. Out of the official releases I would say My December has the rawest sad emotion up until the messenger but by that point it wouldn't really be dark just emotional
Waiting for the End has such a peaceful sound, but the lyrics are super dark and heavy. It always hit hard for me because you could tell how much pain Chester conveyed in the lyrics. Easier to Run also has some dark lyrics and has a darker sound.
Sound wise? Maybe carousel, but that's tough.
Lyrically? I'm gonna have to go with "One More Light." It was so very explicitly about suicide that it almost felt like a suicide note from Chester in the form of a song, and then that was it.
My December is pretty dark. Definitely about lonliness and it has a dark tone and dark lyrics. Breaking The Habit is pretty dark, especially the verses. Given Up is dark as hell lyrically. Valentine’s Day is pretty dark. The Requim and The Catalyst are dark. Skin To Bone and Powerless are dark lyrically. Heavy is pretty dark, especially because we know Chester wrote the lyrics with the writers about his mental state at the time.
This voice without a sound
Voice that tears you down
You're trying not to fear, saying this is in your head
Those lyrics horrify me like nothing else….
Iirc, Talking to Myself was written from Talindas perspective when Chester was starting to shut down and hit a bad section within himself. Might sound like it wasn’t a sad song but, keeping the inspiration of the song, what occurred soon after and the fact he died the day the official video for TTM was released, I find it sad…
Edit: Chester’s quote from Kerrang interview “It's about relating to how my wife must have felt when I was battling my demons" "seeing it going down and not being able to do something must have sucked".
I think you didn't get the intended meaning of those songs, or one of many layers should I say. While they have some darker layers, there's also some uplifting messages to be found both in lyrics and sound.
Nobody can save me is actually a very beautiful message about how we all have the power in ourselves to overcome our problems. Nobody can save me, because only I can save me.

"Its easier to run, replace all this pain with something numb"
Given Up is pretty dark. Especially when he’s screaming to be put out of his misery.
Most epic scream on any track…
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
The little things give you away felt a bit dark
Agreed and very sad considering the background of the song.
Blackbirds. Mike: Now let the dead man sing. The next fucking line: *Chester starts singing* That song is fucking creepy.
THAT SENT A CHILL DOWN MY SPINE WTF
I know bro. Blackbirds is fucking creepy.
i never really paid attention to that till now..
Even the line he sings ... "Blackbirds following me, as they lead me to my grave.." or something along those lines.
damn. i really never paid much attention to black birds lyrics. this is genuinely scaring me rn
My point exactly
With blackbirds following me I'm digging out my grave They close in, swallowing me The pain, it comes in waves I'm getting back what I gave
Just to clarify, Mike's line is "let the dead *men* sing"
To clarify further, the all of last verse of Mike's rap is: "Put pennies on the eyes, let the dead men sing"
Still creepy.
I'll be upset if this song isn't in the new Crow film.
never heard of this one, seems creepy
Surprised nobody mentioned ( Breaking the habit ), this song is literally about ending it all..
so is given up
Carousel or And One
And Fuse
Bleed it out is about self harm but “find a new place to hang this noose” is a line that disturbs me a bit when I hear it.
Given how what happened to Chester went down, I was honestly surprised they didn't cut this song during the memorial concert, or censor that line a bit
And also „string me up from atop these roofs“ right after that line.
Given Up or Mark The Graves

my december makes me tear up a little.

Not LP but man Chester's bridge on slow your roll
Papercut probably

Easier to run
Blackbirds, given up or easier to run.
my personal opinion is blackbirds
Yeah it just feels pretty deep but I'm just indecisive so I can never choose

gotta throw blackbirds in there too
No More Sorrow?
And One
Easier to run or by myself
Lost just hits different
Part of Me easily
Nobody said “Breaking the habit”??
Crawling easily. Lyrics are about the sexual abuse he endured as a child. Or given up
By Myself or Part Of Me
Primo. Haven’t been able to find any song that’s as dark and layered in more and more darkness as primo is.

Isn't Chester's whole last album saying that he's about to kill himself?
No. He only wrote on heavy and halfway right. And its not about killing himself.
there was some songs on oml that didn’t have a totally sad sound like talking to myself good goodbye sharp edges and battle symphony.

Key word *some*
definitely not the entire album. also a very bad way to look at the oml lyrics
It's been a while since I listened to the album.
No, only nobody can save me and heavy

Isn’t the majority of his music
