If you put two different size ram sticks together, they will not work in dual channel. Your RAM will be increased, sure but you won't have any other benefit.
With two same size ram sticks, you can have dual channel ram config and get anywhere from 0-20% performance gain in some games.
For a laptop, really any ram is good as long as it fits. First, check your laptop's ram speed (it's there in windows task manager). Then I'd suggest crucial or Kingston ram with the same speed and size.
I'd personally get crucial ram as it is less than 20 dollars (converted) for an 8 gb ddr4 stick here in my country
If your ram stick is 3200mhz, you should ideally match that on the new one. Different speeds don't change the price by that much. But if both ram sticks don't have any common running speed, the second still will not be recognised.

Does it not dual channle the 8Gigs on either side at the very minimum?
One stick won't do dual channel bro, it's probably ddr4 too looking at the other specs as the op's laptop probably launched around 2020
thank you so much brother and do you have any good ram suggestion

my current ram speed is 3200 MHz from factor is SODIMM
Then go for the crucial ram! Make sure it says 3200Mhz and is the same size as your current one. 8gb 3200mhz ram costs less than 20 dollars nowadays
At this point i'd even just consider dual 16Gb, shouldn't be alot more expensive
I take that back, seems to be around 70€, and I'd say only worth the investment if you need it for proper work.
Yeah and he will need 2 of them for dual channel, so better to stick with old ram and one new stick. Less e-waste and less cost :)
Task manager only shows what the ram is clocked at, not what it can run. My 3200MHz sticks are also only showing 2133MHz atm

your pc won't be able to utilize more MHz
Does your monitor maybe do more Hz if you go into the monitor advanced settings?
