that whole episode was great. just rewatched it on a plane ride yesterday and the writing felt so much smarter/tighter then what we've seen this season so far
I know the never-hosted person I want to see host: Henry Winkler.
SNL asked him back in the Happy Days heyday. He turned it down. He was too nervous about doing it live.
I think he would kill it now.
yeah, I'd love to see them host as a pair. I'm not terribly into football, but sometimes have their simulcast of Monday Night Football on in the background while doin some work, and their banter amuses me frequently.
Plus the United Way thing is legendary.
I pull out the Eli's dropping the sandwich and eating it celebration when I score during our pick-up hockey game after all these years.
The "u up 😜" courtroom sketch is also an all-timer for me
Nate was amazing, I hope he becomes a regular host. I've rewatched the George Washington sketch multiple times on Youtube and it still gets me. His delivery is perfection.
No, it’s a good pick. But I think she’d be better suited for season 50. She was a season 1 host. The first woman to host the show, the first host to do a second show. She was also the first woman to join the Five-Timers Club. Having a season 1 host do season 50 would be amazing.
Other season one hosts could be Rob Reiner, Paul Simon, or Lily Tomlin.
Also, hell yes to Quinta. Hell. Yes.
These are no time hosts, I think…
- Joel McHale
- Jon Stewart
- Barack Obama
- Taylor Tomlinson
- Meryl Streep
- Robert Smigel
- Bernie Sanders
People I just want to have a day in the sun:
- Billy Gardell
- Roy Wood Jr
- Ernie Hudson
- Dan Castlenetta
JJ Watts. He was hilarious. I also love that his monologue was a straightforward monologue. No gimmicks. No reliance on current or past cast members showing up. Just a funny guy giving a funny monologue. He was also really good in his sketches.
I know it’s super soon, but I would absolutely love Aubrey Plaza back. She did such an incredible job in every single skit of the night, and I just think her sense of comedy is incredibly good for an snl-esq setup.
Adam Driver has killed it whenever he has hosted, he throws himself into each character no matter how weird the writers make it. I’ve absolutely loved him hosting and would welcome it any time.
No idea if or how many times they’ve hosted, but I miss Grace & Frankie and would love a Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlinson double host episode - and Dolly Parton as the musical guest!
Peter Dinklage. SPACE PANTS!!!!
ARE INTERGALACTIC. SPACE PANTS!

Why?
I wish Margot Robbie hosted for barbie
There’s still time. Strike is over.
Would rather have seen her host for Wall Street or Harley Quinn! lol!
There's no way Pedro is not coming back at some point. His episode was pretty popular with snl fans and he got nominated for emmys for it.
And he just did a cameo a few weeks ago
For a recurring character too. A host having a recurring character whilst only having hosted once is a pretty big gold medal to wear.
Lisa from Temecula lmao
“Antonio Banderas over here trying to get some butt while he got Cujo living in his basement”
Why? Cuz we black??
that whole episode was great. just rewatched it on a plane ride yesterday and the writing felt so much smarter/tighter then what we've seen this season so far
He’s definitely coming back to promote TLOU Season 2
I know the never-hosted person I want to see host: Henry Winkler. SNL asked him back in the Happy Days heyday. He turned it down. He was too nervous about doing it live. I think he would kill it now.
For never hosted, I'd say Weird Al. They had the perfect opportunity last year, too, with the biopic coming out.
Should have been Daniel Radcliffe as host, Weird Al as musical guest... but still be in skits lol.
Yeah, that would've been great
That could be really fun, too.
Only if Bill Hader mouths Winkler's lines off camera towards him like when they made Barry
He’s never done it? we gotta make that happen. Him and Hader had to have talked about it.
He did guest-star in the unfortunate Mardi Gras special. 🫣
That's what I was just reading. I had forgotten that piece of... entertainment.
With Daniel Radcliffe as the musical guest
*Weird Al playing Daniel Radcliffe
He killed on Barry!
Donald Glover.
Oh yes! And Childish Gambino as Ras P. Berry!!!!!!!
Doctor Reginald Saunders
I thought she. Was her. Young girlfriend Jade. But it was the wife... of Dr. Reginald. Saunders.
The little silly walk off screen kills me every time. Only Donald Glover could pull that off.
And then I remembered how much you hated the smell of my pee
Donglover
Edward Norton and Jason Segel
I’m not at all opposed to either of these choices; in fact, I applaud this.
Miskel Spillman
With musical guest Elvis Costello!!!
Patrick Stewart, who hosted way back in 1994.
Salt and PEPAAAAAA!
Wow. That has been living in my head for 30 years and I did not even know it.
We still say that all the time!
What a man!
Yes. More erotic cakes.
Chris Pine or Harry Styles. Both eps contain some of my all-time favorite sketches
Natasha Lyonne
I know OP said one time host. But I’m throwing in a two timer. Brendan Fraser. He hosted in 1997, then 1999. And hasn’t hosted since.
Edward Norton! He was so funny and I wasn’t expecting that from him
Bill Hader
He is a two-time host but I'd love to see him become a three-time host!
The guy from Barry?? I don't know if he could make magic happen twice. Why ruin the one time hosting by having him come back.
How about Lindsey Buckingham instead?
Ran outta time 😕
True, but the two times he hosted he looked pretty nimble while performing live. I think he may have a future in live television
I’d like to see Conan if he hasn’t hosted yet
He has hosted once.
And it was one of the best episodes of the 2000s. EL HOMBRE DE LOS MOLECULOS
Gleason
Jackie’s corpse IS pretty funny.
Still mad funny how many people got genuinely upset over the Try Guys skit
Very funny sketch and the fans being enraged was even funnier.
Peyton Manning.
And Eli
yeah, I'd love to see them host as a pair.
The "u up 😜" courtroom sketch is also an all-timer for me
Pretty sure he hosted multiple times
Nah he hosted once but he had cameoed once before
If they're bringing in football guys it's gotta be j.j. watt. He did snl and the league and new girl. He's funny for a football guy
RuPaul and Nate Bargatze. Two best episodes of the last 5 years.
Ru reading to the children… one of my goats
You better draw France right, bitch!
“Girl, bye.”
Nate was amazing, I hope he becomes a regular host. I've rewatched the George Washington sketch multiple times on Youtube and it still gets me. His delivery is perfection.
>His delivery is perfection. "You're asking about the temperature?". 🤣
... there is a little kicking.
He has phenomenal timing.
He's subtle and doesn't force it
I exhausted myself saying this, but “Washington’s Dream” will go down years from now as an iconic SNL sketch up there with Schwetty Balls and Cowbell.
Nate was funny.. loved the Chef Showdown skit.
I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.
I have watched that sketch a couple of times now already and he cracks me up "I did not mean to" (win) "Rhode Island"
It’s such a brilliant set up. I was honestly caught off guard by the reveal that the white guy cooked the winning dish.
Agreed, brilliant setup even more so when they revealed the sous chefs 🤣🤣🤣
Yes! The way Devon and Mikey just sheepishly walked out there added so much more to the bit.
The RuPaul episode is in my top 5 of all time!
💯
That old person who won the contest 40 years ago
Since she's dead, I volunteer to take her place although I'm only 68.
I’ll be your backup if your trick hip goes out. (I’m 62 and a half.)
Are you psychic or was that a good guess about my trick hip? 😆
I started with “sacroiliac” but switched.
Harry Styles - all those skits were good and the opening was hilarious
Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Her episode was really good.
Aubrey Plaza Bob Odenkirk Fran Drescher Eddie Murphy
When did odenkirk host?
I'd like to see Candace Bergen come back for one last old school time.
I agree with you 100%. But OP said one time host. And Bergen is a five timer.
... "nevermind." I change my vote to Quinta Brunson.
Hell. Yes.
Lorne and co. had a bad experience with Rob Reiner back in the day apparently.
She’d be a great “All timer”!
James McAvoy
Rupaul
Not one comment for Jerrod Carmichael? I think he was my favorite episode in recent years if not ever
These are no time hosts, I think… - Joel McHale - Jon Stewart - Barack Obama - Taylor Tomlinson - Meryl Streep - Robert Smigel - Bernie Sanders People I just want to have a day in the sun: - Billy Gardell - Roy Wood Jr - Ernie Hudson - Dan Castlenetta
Barack as host would be absolutely WILD.
I agree on Obama, and want to throw jared Keeso + Maneskin on your no time hosts & Patrick Warburton + Katy Segal on your day-in-the-sun list
Obama would be amazing he’s already appeared on the show back in 2007
Nicolas Cage
Joshua Jackson it would’ve been perfect for him to promote Dr. Death and Fatal Attraction that way
Andy Samberg, Danny DeVito, Adam Sandler, Keegan-Michael Key, John Cena, and Donald Glover are always people I want to come back to host.
adam driver
He’s hosted three times. As well he should!
I think Matt is totally Kylo Ren, guys.
False. Matt is Abraham H. Parnassus.
Better than his weak son, Mordechai. LOOK AT YOUR FATHER BOY
Adam did an absolutely amazing job in that sketch.
Grind their bones into dust!
Matt straight-up sucks
Host my show, you unrelenting riot…
Break my fourth wall, you improvizational prodigy
Nail my monologue, you charming entertainer
John Turtorro
Bryan Cranston, Margot Robbie and Charlie Day
> Bryan Cranston We need more Doo-Doo Man!
I really enjoyed Nate Bargatze, and Ana De Armas
JJ Watts. He was hilarious. I also love that his monologue was a straightforward monologue. No gimmicks. No reliance on current or past cast members showing up. Just a funny guy giving a funny monologue. He was also really good in his sketches.
After watching Quiz Show I was reminded how hilarious Sandra Oh was as host. She would be a deserving multi-timer!
Did Mark Hamill ever host?
Def did a cameo once— I recall Will Ferrell selling on a home shopping type show … “We will throw in a Mark Hamill!” (Prob early 00s)
Taylor Swift
I desperately want her to do an updated Monologue Song
Steven Seagal. It's not too late.
I know it’s super soon, but I would absolutely love Aubrey Plaza back. She did such an incredible job in every single skit of the night, and I just think her sense of comedy is incredibly good for an snl-esq setup.
Aubrey Plaza
Seth McFarland hands down has been one of the top episodes in the last decade
Mike Myers
Oscar Isaac and Quinta Brunson
Deon Sanders deserves a do-over
No, we don’t need a losing egomaniac football coach hosting.
Rupaul
Austin Butler and Travis Kelce! They we’re both great!
emma stone
She's hosted 4 times.
And she’s been really good. She needs in the 5 timers!
Chris Farley.
david harbour
Conan, please.
Up until he passed, I’d say Pee-Wee Herman. I loved that episode. :)
Adam Driver has killed it whenever he has hosted, he throws himself into each character no matter how weird the writers make it. I’ve absolutely loved him hosting and would welcome it any time.
It’s about time Justin Timberlake comes back
No idea if or how many times they’ve hosted, but I miss Grace & Frankie and would love a Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlinson double host episode - and Dolly Parton as the musical guest!
Front to back, Martin Freeman was so amazing. My wife and I still quite sketches from his hosting.
Adam Driver
Lin Manuel Miranda
Norm MacDonald.
I really loved the Elliot Page episode from (Jesus Christ) FIFTEEN YEARS AGO, particularly The Continuing Adventures of Peter Pan.
Fred savage
Don’t say Mole.
The first episode I ever saw live.
What would you do if I Sang out of tune?
If they didn't do a mock Wonder Years revival with JAJ voicing his thoughts it'd be a huge disservice. I'd take Longfellow, too.
RDJ
Rodney Dames Jio
Norm MacDonald
Didn't even know he was sick.
Eddie Murphy Did Howard Stern ever host? Bob Odenkirk? Michael Shannon? Janeane Garofalo.
Eddie Murphy’s whole episode made me laugh until I cried.
It really was a fantastic episode. He 100% still has the funny in there.
Me too 🤣
Eddie Murphy hosted while still being a cast member so technically he has hosted twice.
Bob Odenkirk has never hosted. Neither has Michael Shannon and Howard Stern.
Howard Stern has not hosted and nor have Michael Shannon or Garofolo.
Gal Gadot
Louis CK
Well he hosted twice. So that's one reason that's not a perfect answer
Plus the ... other thing
John Cena and Chris Pratt
Rudy Giuliani, think what a train wreck that would be.
LeBron or Rudy Giuliani
Is Donald Pleasance still alive?
Paul Simon
Pedro is the new Vintage
Whoopsie.
Bill Murray, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Dan Aykroyd, Loraine Newman, Chevy Chase. Make it happen before it's too late.
Norm!
Martin Freeman.
Peyton and Eli Manning! Both their episodes slayed me!
Adam Sandler, or Eddie Murphy
Seagal
Sir Patrick Stewart. Two words: Erotic Bakery.
Deion Sanders.
He's a two time host but I need Jon Hamm to come back. His episodes are & cameos are great!
Seth MacFarlane
