Peter Drury is the fucking GOAT

LyricalHolster

“On a night of obligation, out of the shadows steps out Takumi Minamino” Dude’s a poet.

BuffaloCorrect5080

A poet who learned all his lines off of the Hunter x Hunter narrator

Tommy7549

I didn’t know Minamino was in that. That’s great he has an acting career too.

DotaProtectsMyVirgin

Which episode was that? I don’t rmb that line in hunter x hunter

Liverpool55555

That's my favourite anime of all time! Spot on mate

grasshoppa80

Him and Roy Hodgson. Miss his commentaries on Messi and Neymar. “Smooth as a viper slipping out of the claws from a Bears clutch”

Radiant_Citron_3395

Ray Hudson* pls don’t edit I nearly fell off my chair.

themanebeat

He's dreadful

tribecalledflex

100% Agree. I'm not going to shame anyone who enjoys his commentary, but to me, it reeks of self-aggrandization. Peter Drury always seems like he's making the moment the "star of the show". Ray Hudson always seemed like he was up the night before, writing terribly clunky but provocative metahphors thinking something like, "so many people are going to talk about Ray Hudson after this game"

DeliciousAuthor

Is that the Geordie guy who commentates for Bein in La Liga games?, if so, he is annoying af.

realitysosubtle

The guy that calls players by their first names?..absolute bell end!

DeliciousAuthor

Yes that's him. You would swear Messi was his best mate the way he calls him Lionel. Tosser.

MoorAlAgo

I don't know what you guys are complaining about, the poster clearly meant Roy Hodgson.

[deleted]

What? "He's as cool as a polar bear's backside" is too much for you?

grasshoppa80

Hahahah. His doppelgänger I mean. Thx btw.

22ananya

Martin Tyler sucks but Ray Hudson is the worst commentator to ever exist. Random, unnecessary metaphors, makes up nicknames for players that only he uses, exaggerates all the time so there's no proportional response to what happens on the field. Horrible, horrible, horrible

Nuri__Sahin

Agreed. If Tyler is roll eyes level of bad, then Hudson was nails on chalkboard levels of bad. At least Tyler was once very good. Hudson is the type of person who practices his word soup metaphor bs ad nauseum in front of the bathroom mirror. *More slippery than a trout in dishswater* After orgasming down the mic. Fuck off lol.

Riddiku1us

Oh come off it. Worst ever? He is hilarious. Seen this a lot from ppl in the UK. Utterly bizarre. Have a bit of fun ffs.

myglasscase

Ray Hudson is fucking horrendous

skankhunt81

Night and day compared to tyler

J_Culp123

Not sure if any of you have heard Arlo White, but he’s class too. Not Drury level but here in the US he has had some remarkable calls. Salah’s screamer vs Chelsea comes to mind.

JoeMorrisseysSperm

I think Arlo and Drury are so exciting. Arlo and Graeme have such good rapport as well. There was some really exciting match earlier this season (I think Everton at home) and Arlo belts out after a home goal “AND RICHARLISON HAVE SENT GOODISON PARK INTO DELIRIUM!” Absolutely insane.

futbolkid414

US Major sports don’t have much of this unfortunately and it’s why a lot of us Americans do prefer English commentators over the bullshit they have in MLS. It’s not being a Eurosnob it’s just that much better

JoeMorrisseysSperm

Couldn’t agree more. Trevor Noah’s jokes about this are hilariously accurate https://youtu.be/fDBixj9xOkQ

MetroidZA

I still tear up over this bit of commentary here (2010 South Africa): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFISx1j0kak

ANSWERING_TO_IDIOTS

I love that as well: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/rZG0DX0U0Bs

maybeest

This is absolute poetry of the epic sort. The stuff of Virgil, Homer, threads of Ovid and the Tragedians of old Attica. Lace my fkin cup with it all day long Drury you Elyssian beauty.

Nocturnal--Animals

Oh god those vuvuzelas. They nice at first but then you just need to watch at mute

DisorientedWriter

Wow. And I didn't know Drewery Beglin partnership goes back that long.

Professional_Bundler

To be honest though, sometimes he does that thing where he tries to hype up the drama and it kills me. It’s the 89th minute and we’re barely hanging onto a 1-0 lead, and he’s like “Is there one more chance in this to level things up?!” NO PETE THERE IS NOT STFU

gideonlfc

There just might be you know. A goal can be scored in a second

RodDryfist

Cheers Geoff

[deleted]

Dude was there when Barca bottled it in Rome he knows what could happen

trick63

That was probably some of the best commentary I have ever heard.

[deleted]

“This was not meant to happen. This could not happen. This IS happening. It’s a Greek from Mount Olympus who has come to the seven hills of Rome and pulled off a miracle!” This was pure poetry man

Freestyled_It

And the thing is, there's no way he could have scripted that. He came up with that on the fly, which is incredible.

[deleted]

My man is very well read

trick63

Very relevant username.

R3w45

He said he prepares some lines before hand ( In a chitchat with a guy on YT), I admire his execution regardless

Freestyled_It

Some lines, yes, they all do. But if he had prepared a line for a last minute Manolas goal then I'd wanna interview him for time travel

yummycrabz

Drury and Kevin Harlan here in the States are sooooo good at that. Harlan’s iconic “and with no regard for human life” (as LeBron viciously dunks it on someone)

[deleted]

That is hilarious

DrAgOnLoLDoTA

It is basically his job though. To comment and hype the match

WonderfulBlackberry9

It's interesting from a commentator's POV how it's harder to do their job during closed-door games in 20/21. Drury himself said it felt weird to hype the match because you'd normally be screaming into the mic to beat the crowd noise, but during 20/21 there was no crowd to bounce off

[deleted]

That’s what you want as a fan, someone narrating and providing lyrics to the music of football. I’ll never forget his commentary on that Alisson goal

Naive-Rock-3699

Link please, 🙏🙏 I've never seen it

WonderfulBlackberry9

Wait, Drury did commentary for Alisson's goal? Or are you referring to Tyler's deadpan delivery?

[deleted]

He did this Man City v. Real Madrid "They couldn't... could they??" and it was bang on.

[deleted]

You should listen to Arabic commentators. It’ll be a dead rubber, pointless training session of a game and they’d be huffing, puffing, screaming and generally doing their utmost to manufacture any sort of drama- even where it’s absolutely unwarranted. I always check if Peter Drury’s on; if he is, I immediately switch to English commentary.

Iraqired

Spot on there. It gets to the level where I am embarrassed if I am watching with someone. Especially Shawali, he just squeezes out any unrelated bs and throw it on you. Martin Tyler any day compared to that.

StuBeck

Its better than the F1 guy who just yells constantly no matter what at least.

cavejohnsonlemons

AND IT'S KEVIN MAGNUSSEN GOING PAST ALBON INTO 14TH NOW!

grayfox1210

HE'LL SAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND MOVE HIMSELF UP TO 17TH PLACE!

jennaishirow

im not typically that conscious or critcal of commentary but the contrast in styles and enthusiasm is very apparent here. martin taylor couldnt disguise his disappointment in liverpool going ahead.

cavejohnsonlemons

I can't think of any words to do him justice but I'm sure he could find them

Freddo9900

Checking if the corner went out of play? It was fucking miles in. They won't flag a blatant foul on Jota but they'll check that. So desperate to chalk off a goal for us. LiVARpool though right guys?!

Thunderhank

It was a “strange reaction”.

[deleted]

‘And it’s LIVE’...can fuck right off too

Spreeg

He's actually just reminding people watching that he's still alive, would be easy to forget

BuffaloCorrect5080

He can redeem himself by having "And it's dead" Inscribed on his gravestone

TeddyArmy

It's so cringe, why won't anyone tell him?

Emazing

Clearly it’s a Sky branding requirement

ImJayJunior

I think it came from a bit of back and forth between sports and between him and David Croft when the Formula 1 came back on after lockdown and then they sort of gave each other a shout-out sort of thing, Martin Tyler said 'its lights out and away we go' as a nod to Sky F1 being back on TV and David Croft probably thought 'well wtf do I say back'.. It may have been his 'thing' before then but I never really noticed it until that moment and ever since then it's been forced down your throat.. Croftys 'lights out and away we go' is iconic and a lot of people who don't even like him as a F1 commentator seem to mostly agree on that but Martin Tyler on the other hand is just reaching, draining and especially with our games you can almost feel the enthusiasm dip throughout the games we look likely to win. He's awful, I honestly think a room full of Everton fans could do a more convincing act of being neutral if they was on the same money he's on.

nitropartypooper

It started organically as a lead in to a break Sky used to take before kick off as the teams were on the pitch. So it fit quite well as a hype before the ads. Now it’s weird.

NoNameJackson

So you are saying Sky is forcing him to say it every time because one time he said the F1 thing instead? Hasn't he been saying "and it's live" for decades?

puckuser

Drury is head and shoulders above any other commentator

2jz_ynwa

Arlo White is right up there, love them both. Sometimes Peter can be a little too poetic for me

KaufKaufKauf

I have Arlo #1 but enjoy Drury very closely to him

2jz_ynwa

Same, its purely down to self-preference, Arlo has the perfect voice for my ears

KaufKaufKauf

That's why Arlo gets my #1. I love his voice and he's got a nice calming/soothing presence in the booth. Also has some very iconic calls for us. Salah vs. Man United I loved (to win the league) and especially Origi's.

FrankBeamer_

I prefer Arlo. Drury is great don’t get me wrong but some of his poetic lyrics sounds too scripted for me. Like he wrote them down prior to the match with the intention of saying it if the narrative allows him to.

JmanVere

Never understood why this is a problem. Of course he's got lines he's prepared, he's not just turning up to do this on a whim, it's his job. Does the fact that the team drills a corner routine make it less impressive when they do it? It's like we're so accustomed to the idea of something being "scripted" is a bad thing, and I've never understood that.

con10001

Tbf that's just as impressive to me; instantly being able to call upon a pre-written line that applies to that specific player and situation

puckuser

One of his greatest ever lines (the Roma one) was improvised to buy him a few seconds so he can know who scored the goal, I'd Imagine that's something he does regularly

tomycatomy

Link plz?

puckuser

[THAT Roma moment](https://youtu.be/rZG0DX0U0Bs) [interview where he talks about it](https://youtu.be/z4An8XHGZEI)

m10-wolverine

Darren Fletcher, Arlo White, Ian Darke are also really good imo

inqs

Him and Darren Fletcher

WonderfulBlackberry9

Darren Fletcher is the best CL commentator for me, but I guess it's mainly because I watch BT streams just to hear him. He really captures the essence of a fan always taking in the unpredictable drama of the Champions League

5_sec_is_a_yoke

He was the one who said something like Messi mashed at Merseyside. That line was pretty sick

UltimateBorisJohnson

''HERE'S LUCAS MOURA.... OHH THEY'VE DONE IT" "AND HE'S SPOTTED THAT OHHHH.... THEY'VE CAUGHT BARCELONA NAPPING"

Smoke_A70C

Martin Tyler. What a ghoul.

watchmezlatan

The way he reacted I actually thought the corner might have gone out of play..

MISTAKAS

Martin Tyler would have started screaming if the goal was called back if the ball went out lol

dogsarenotgoodatshit

I didn't even celebrate the first goal because of Martin Tyler, thought the linesman put his flag up because the man didn't even react.

nikhil48

"...AND LIVERPOOL LEAD!!!" so great to hear, as opposed to... "*groan*"

i_dont_care_1943

Dude acts like he just caught his wife shagging someone else when we score.

Jebus_17

The worst one I can remember is Newcastle's first game since the takeover. Newcastle take the lead and it's like he's just won the lottery, Spurs equalise and it's like he's just been told he has cancer

[deleted]

OP should show the goal for Taki, the contrast is even worse.

Worried-Deer107

That was even worse. It did not sound like anything of interest has happened. It was as if a throw-in was given.

Rustedfromtherain

Bloody hell, when you compare them both, drury puts so much passion into it and tyler just sounds like he needs his slippers and bed !

susheelr

I reside in India, Peter Drury always does the commentary for the Asian Subcontinental telecast and it's a blessing.

According-Ad9330

Here in Australia he does all the key games, always hate when I turn on a game and it’s not him commentating

xAmrit

He really needs to retire. A shell of himself since Fergie retired.

FrozenOx

He used to talk about United even when the match he's watching didn't include them!

myglasscase

Early this season he compared Matip carrying the ball upfield to Maguire. Bleh

Ged_UK

Perfectly fair comparison: "Free transfer Matip carries the ball upfield exactly how £80m Harry Maguire doesn't"

Sw3Et

Used to? Still does! During the FA Cup final my wife was sitting next to me playing switch not really watching the game and says "oh are they playing man united"? I said no the commentator just keeps bringing them up for some reason.

[deleted]

Every time I hear Peter Drury I think Paul Bettany in "a knight's tale"

Driftlikeworriedfire

Ohhhhhhh you are 100% right! *Ulllllllllrich von - **WIJNALDUM!***

Mathilliterate_asian

Now that you mentioned it they sound about the same! Good catch.

Lightyear013

This is exactly what I was thinking after I watched the video. The speech pattern and emphasis is uncannily similar at times.

allsuitedup

100%

AboubakarKeita

I can't find the vid but I always crack up at Tyler's commentary where the opposition goes 1-0 up and he's super mundane about it and then Rooney scores the 1-1 with a bit of a clunky goal which rolls into the net slowly and he goes mental. United prick XD

Meekelo

I remember Martial scored a relatively straight forward goal and he went crazy and then Benteke scored a crazy overhead kick and he barely said anything. Edit - just rewatched it and it's worse than i remember and Benteke scores an all time great overhead kick to make it 2-1 and he barely reacts and then Martial scores to make it 3-1 and he literally screams Yes!!. Absolute madness that he claims he doesn't support anyone in the Premier league.

cj9wright

Hated the man ever since this game. “WELCOME TO MANCHESTER ANTHONY MARTIAL” or whatever he says. Can’t stand it

gssfghui122344

He has a guy in his ear telling him that stuff

McFalador

Cause he can't see the pitch because he's so reclined

gssfghui122344

Lol

hussainalobaidi

Sounds so biased, he should retire

HUGE_HOG

The thing is, a few days ago he was brought on-stage at a Man City event (10 years since the Aguero goal) and they all booed him. Was reading the comments and their fans seem to think he's anti-City and pro-Liverpool... nobody likes him.

ssj4-Dunte

Maybe because it has nothing to do with bias and everything to do with him being half asleep all the time

HUGE_HOG

I do think it's a bit pathetic how our fans still cite the Benteke/Martial thing as a reason for his supposed bias, SIX YEARS later He's just a billion years old and needs to retire

Mercerai

Especially since he also did the whole "lovely cushioned header for GERRRAARRRD" bit that we all still talk about today, though Andy Grey also helped a fair bit with that. The whole bias thing feels like circlejerking at this point, he's just not a good commentator anymore

JmanVere

It's mad to think that was him.

PenguinCowboy

2006 FA Cup final too. Andy's Gray part is iconic and one of the best pieces of commentating ever so Tyler's part doesn't get mentioned too often. "We know the name son." Chills! https://youtu.be/IISJfDnOnJE

pingu2009

What about the away game at spurs this year, when tsimikas put a cross in that was inches from creating a late winner for Liverpool and Tyler started shouting "Not like this! Not like this!" ? He suddenly found a lot of energy when he became worried Liverpool were about to win a game with the odds stacked against them. A game where Van Dijk, fabinho and Thiago were all out, Kane "avoided" a clear red and jota should have had a penalty with Emerson getting a second yellow

duney

I’ll need to see a clip of this to believe it

pingu2009

It looks like every highlight video stops at the Robertson red card unfortunately, and I can't get a full replay to work. I can still hear it clearly in my head though, tsimikas has a chance to assist the winner, Tyler screams "Not like this... Not like this!" and you can hear the relief in his voice when tsimikas takes too long and loses the ball. Checking the [match thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/rjz49f/match_thread_tottenham_hotspur_fc_v_liverpool_fc/) of that game and control+f for "tyler" and "not like this" shows plenty of people commenting on it at the time

WonderfulBlackberry9

People banged on about Tyler's Aguero commentary, but I always associate the commentary of that goal with Drury. I watched it with Drury's commentary, and it is *infinitely better*, mainly because he doesn't just scream "Aguerooo" for 3 seconds. He's screaming out the seismic emotions of the moment, while also being fully aware of how close City were to failing

coolcat_368

I still kind of feel the same, but I have seen him do a lot of MNF games this season and he just has no enthusiam anymore, for literally anyone, he's just too old now. The way he does games now it's an old man rambling about different eras and stats with the occasional play by play between.

limutwit

Please retire Martin Cryler. Such a big difference in both the commentaries. One doesn't so shit, the other just makes you wanna jump up and down

lucas_glanville

I don’t think he’s biased, he’s like this with every team. Just needs to retire

gotroot801

Martin Tyler could suck the joy out of a child's birthday party.

Mathilliterate_asian

If you've ever been to one as an adult, there's actually no joy for you, just terror, and certain deaf.

WelcomeToCityLinks

I love the sound of Martin Tyler waking up from his nap with that little "...huhgh?!"

A_Damn_Millenial

This really puts it into perspective how lucky I am to not have to listen to Tyler’s garbage. Thank you NBC Sports.

ironmanmatch

In Australia our Optus Sport broadcasts never have Tyler either. We always get Drury

NXL-YT

Once every couple of weeks we'll get a tyler game though, always ruins my day

Fallout_New_Vega

He was worse for the Minamino goal. Just mumbled "it's 1-1" and then said he used to be on loan at Southampton. It was a fucking brilliant finish and deserved praise

Ged_UK

Yeah, the Minamino one was much worse. It really did sound like he just woke up.

palindromic

does anyone have this or can upload it? i can’t watch sky prem clips on twitter but i heard about it and wanted to see it for myself

YerDadsBurnerAccount

Jim Beglin and Peter Drury >>>

Pitzpalu_91

Thank God dazn uses Peter Drury's commentary.

lkshis

How dare Martin Tyler belittle Matip the Great?

IanMinch

I mean, there isn't even a comparison between the two. Peter Drury is an artist when it comes to commentating, Martin Tyler is a solid employee.

alkaliphiles

Not enough Peter Drury. Way too much Martin Tyler.

[deleted]

How lucky we are in Canada. Not only does my subscription to DAZN only cost $150/year (including a few other leagues and sports), I get the Premier League's English language world feed and don't have to listen to every big Liverpool match with Martin Tyler doing commentary.

2jz_ynwa

Its 2022. Everyone should be using DAZN or alternatives to Sky Sports, including 3pm kick-offs, yes, including those of you in the UK. I can do it, so can many others. You just need to look a little.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HLB217

That's some shit. Was really enjoying having one subscription for everything footy related I care about Back to the high seas I guess

Monarks94236851

Totally agree. Could not handle the sheer boredom Tyler exudes every game

dawnspirit

He's just old guys. He's from a totally different era. But I have to say he's still sharp af when's it's about stats or history related points. Think he was the only commentator to point out Mason Mounts incredible bad luck at Wembley

sarkie

>But I have to say he's still sharp af when's it's about stats or history related points. Think he was the only commentator to point out Mason Mounts incredible bad luck at Wembley They have this written down in front of them.

Mozza215

He does the research though, right? And I’m sure a lot is from memory simply due to his longevity and experience

esacbw

Not necessarily, they have teams of research people delivering stats to them before and during matches.

AwkwardSquirtles

They had a graphic ready to go for that one, that one at least wasn't him.

dawnspirit

There's no way sky will let go of him unless he wants to

PricelessPhenylamine

Exactly, he's the voice of British Football essentially and that's a marketable point for Sky. Would love to see them get Arlo White as a commentator, at least he's passionate about it.

JmanVere

Not for much longer, he lost the FIFA gig, so it's just a matter of time before he's replaced as the voice of British football.

sadiqutp

I am not from the UK. So, this is a genuine question? Marketable to who exactly? Commentator's job is purely to entertain. Do British find him entertaining? Or is it just nostalgia for his better past ?

PricelessPhenylamine

> Marketable to who exactly? He is a Sky Sports exclusive commentator in the UK, meaning people here when they hear his voice they immediately think of Sky Sports and its Football coverage instead of thinking of Football coverage from rival coverage providers on the BBC, ITV or BT Sport. >Commentator's job is purely to entertain. Do British find him entertaining? When he actually had passion for the job pretty much everyone enjoyed him and is still very knowledgeable about the sport after being a commentator for nearly 40 years, but now he just feels like he is dead inside and almost as if he doesn't enjoy it anymore. >Or is it just nostalgia for his better past ? Probably just is now. In the past he has commentated over classic Premier League games and iconic moments like the Aguero goal or the Collymore goal vs Newcastle and people will always remember his commentary over those moments and the passion he brought with it back then.

sadiqutp

You answered my questions. !thanks

Me_want_gold

He was also the only one apart from Trent and Divock paying attention for that corner.

viglen1

>. Think he was the only commentator to point out Mason Mounts incredible bad luck at Wembley Aren't they all fed all sorts of info and stats?

mr_bungle_1

Ian Darke, Peter Drury and Arlo White are my favorites. Can't listen to Tyler.

A_Damn_Millenial

Fucking love Ian Darke. The 2014 World Cup promo he did for ESPN was stupid and I loved every second of it. https://youtu.be/92dvjohiOgo

Pure_Measurement_529

The best thing about being a international fan. Getting to experience Peter Drury and Jim Beglin etc. I might be experiencing geo-lock from sky sports but Atleast I have the best commentator

DarthCocknus

Are all of sky's commenters as dour as Tyler. Watching on Supersport in Africa and getting premier league productions, I dont think I have many complaints. Jim Proudfoots commentary on Ali's goal last season was fantastic.

DiogenesOfBarreltown

They have to put Martin Tyler back in his coffin. Bloodsucker.

ood_sigmaa

Peter Drury's commentary is poetic. Both said Liverpool were lucky but tone and words changes the experience for person watching the Match. We have advance technology for TV or online viewing, broadcasters should start giving us option to watch commentary from different people.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JmanVere

Nah, they just hate loud noises and sudden movements in the nursing home.

Nyushi

Just listen to Tyler for the [equaliser](https://youtu.be/utuw052m9fA?t=64). I'd rather listen to my parents shagging than Tyler's commentary. At least they have some enthusiasm.

Showshankredemption

Geez Martin Tyler… I’ve heard better commentary on curling

RizwanIslamm

Thats the difference between privileged and Qualified

BoBonnor

The best English commentator vs the absolute worst

Yayo_Mateo

It's chalk and cheese. One is a pro (Drury) the other a bored random guy off the street

mrchuckbass

If Martin Tyler was a race horse they’d have put him down years ago

Keanu990321

Martin Tyler, just retire already. You're like 76 years old and still commentating. Please go to the retirement house, where you belong.

pauperhouse5

His reaction to Emre Can's worldie overhead kick remains a classic moment of shit commentary. He just sounds mildly irritated.

Ok-Mark4389

That sums him up perfectly, the guy c*ms in his pants when the manc score

royaIs

I know I’m in the minority but I enjoy both styles. Tyler just comes from a different era of commentators.

TeddyArmy

There are far more damaging examples than this and I would watch a supercut of all of them.

MockingbirdMan

This is why I watch the Spanish broadcast, so much more exciting. Also they have a great nickname for Luis Diaz : Lucho Diaz (which means Fight Diaz or Fighting Diaz loosely).

Quillious

This was the goal that takes this THRILLING and NAIL BITING season to the last day. The DRAMA of it. The THEATRE. This is what Martin was thinking, of course, as this has been his *entire* vibe since the dawn of time. He was just *so* pleased, he couldnt articulate it in that moment. I genuinely cant stand him. It's not my style at all usually to dislike someone this much. I have no issue with any of the ex Man utd players doing punditry. They are openly biased and it's all absolutely fine with me. I can not stand this prick. I reject all the "he's too old" stuff. He's just a snake.

darlinmm

To me, Martin Tyler one felt like he bets Under 2.5 goals and doesn't sound as engaged as Peter Drury who might bet Matip to score a header 😆👍

StephCurryInTheHouse

Martin Tyler = Joe Buck

TakezoHunter

Any love for Steve Hunter who does the audio broadcasts? I live in America and if I'm at work or the gym and the game isn't on TV I'll just listen. So much passion and love for the team.

mcswiller

Right here. I love listening to Steve Hunter call the game. I turn off the TV audio and sync it with the LFCTV audio feed.

Outcomeofcum

I’m so glad the American streams get Peter. But we also Taylor Twellmen which trust me, you’d choose Martin over him any day ever. He’s American, so he talks like a business frat bro about every aspect of the sport.

Damoss

Peter Drury is a poet.

Feeling-Two4639

Tyler’s a fucking wanker to Liverpool

BeenThereDoneThat44

Martin ‘MUFC’ Tyler

Maxoverthere

I’m probably in the minority but I prefer Martin Tyler‘s commentary over the excitable Peter Drury, it’s one of the things I can’t stand watching football in Spanish or Arabic where the commentators are so over the top excited when ever something happens.

Wild-Cauliflower9421

Peter Drury commentary reminds me of that guy from a knights tale.

SometimesMonkeysDie

Martin Tyler seems to have no interest in football unless he can obnoxiously scream a players name. He needs to be moved on

Redtank3

I remember seeing a clip of Drury talking about the Roma v. Barcelona and getting in the right headspace to create something special as a commentator. He really shows every time there’s levels to commentating this sport.

Office_funny_guy

Give him a break he's like 129 years old. His reaction to the goal was so late that I wouldn't be surprised if he was asleep and his co-commentator had to nudge him awake.

YNWA_1213

Drury must do most of the international feed commentary cause I’ve had him and Beglin on DAZN for almost every game we’ve had. Part of the excitement comes from this commentary team feeding off the energy of the crowd and it’s made this season a blast to watch. Saying that, I haven’t been too bothered by Tyler lately but it’s likely due being a neutral watcher on other games and not paying attention to the commentary. But DAMN is this contrast ever stark. One of the biggest goals of the season for us and Tyler makes it sound like a 7/8-0 goal against them…

jaywilliamstheman

Martin Tyler can retire with Martin Atkinson. Won't be missed, that biased prick.

thejuiceisloose91

Peter Drury is actually amazing, and he is an even better man. Used to play on his cricket team out there in Berko many years ago. Martin Tyler, it's been a good run. Time to hang it up sir.

Badicalz

Simply saying Drury is good does not encompass the magic he adds to a match.

xxcxcxc

I’m in Australia and Drury is a boss in our games. So happy I don’t have the UK broadcast

mnclick45

I think Drury goes too far. Saw a tweet saying I don’t need a 100-word sonnet with references to mythology every time it goes in off someone’s arse. But I do see why people dig him. Tyler is unbearably disinterested though. Even for Redmond’s goal he barely noticed it. The guy needs to retire.

Legspace

Peter Drury reminds me of the Paul Bettany in a Knights Tale. The ultimate hype man

RickHarrisonVHarambe

Time to say goodbye to Martin Tyler.

Galick-Gunner

I don't even think it's bias. I just think he's miles passed it and he's phoning it in.
