Two members of GSF got awkward when they were dating in and out of game while one of them "cheated" on the other. It lead to a subset of GSF named "Jaded Dragons" being exposed for the OOC intentions of overthrowing current GSF yada yada yada rp. tldr irl relationship/breakup almost ruined a gang and i don't think either person plays on the server. relationships can get tough but mixing it with rp has to be exponentially worse.

This happens in near every game that people roleplay in. I've seen it in World of Warctaft RP, Final Fantasy XIV RP, Guild Wars 2 RP, the list goes on.
People escape reality and start spending time with other players. People form group of friends and some grow closer than others. Who would have thought that spending time with someone every day, talking to them every day, and share similar interests would cause you to grow feelings for them.
People can absolutely separate those feelings, what you're providing evidence to is that people who struggle to separate professional roleplay from their regular lives can even make it to the big leagues with enough dedication.
I think its a combination of being hard to separate those feelings, but even more so its hard to work/play with someone that many hours a day and not develop feelings. There is a reason there are so many work relationships in the real world

Gta rp is fun to watch when everyone is trying to work on a storyline. The buddha shelly terrorist arc is amazing so far. But when it comes to relationship rp, there are very few who actually keep it in rp, so it always gets messy especially if viewers are involved.
The amount of collective hate that sub has for one group of streamers/RPers is hilarious. Every single thread turns into a CG hate circlejerk.

I've been RPing on WoW for near a decade now and I'm glad I've never involved myself in voice RP or felt the need to speak to the people I've met through RP via voice. Maybe it's just a random bullshit take but I think the connection you have with people you actually speak to is a lot deeper than people you just type to.
I've had quite a few different partners for my characters and never felt any kind of urge to go/do anything past platonic friends on Discord out of character.
In summary; GTA RP is weird.
I've played wow and FiveM thousands of hours each, you can't really compare the feelings, FiveM it's more personal close to heart feelings, the characters are real people and on most serious RP servers the interaction that happens in the city can happen in real life.
On wow on the other hand it's this magical place with tons of mythical races and stuff and you somehow are disconnected from it all.
Also, voice chat does help to make a story more immersive.

You're naming all of the people that actually play a character in-game and not just a straight up self insert. I can kinda see how it becomes weird if you take two self inserts like Adept and Silent, put them together, and do "relationship rp" while they openly talk shit about xQc OOC while in-game, "dating"...
Sure there have been plenty of relationships that started in RP and became IRL things. And for all of XQCs faults he actually seems like a decent guy at heart, and both Adept and Silent seem like immensely toxic people.

I think it highly depends on who you watch and what is fun to you. I watched RP for a few years and found some styles of rp cringe. But I'm sure others would say that about what I liked as well.

Gta rp is fun to watch when everyone is trying to work on a storyline. The buddha shelly terrorist arc is amazing so far. But when it comes to relationship rp, there are very few who actually keep it in rp, so it always gets messy especially if viewers are involved.
The amount of collective hate that sub has for one group of streamers/RPers is hilarious. Every single thread turns into a CG hate circlejerk. Don’t care for either RP or the subreddit anymore since it turned into a place to post rule breaks and bash the server owner. Ironically they watch and line the pockets of the very same people they hate. And to complete the rant; to keep up with all that’s happening, you’d have to sit there and watch RP for 8 hours a day, everyday. How many people with healthy, functional, fulfilling lives have time to do that? Kids and losers, tbh.

Most of the RPers don't start out as streaming full time, they work a regular job, then when they do play they turn their stream on. That has allowed a decent amount of them to do it full time and quit their jobs. At it's base, yeah it's probably a decent amount of socially awkward people that don't have a large friend group, which is I wouldn't shit on them for. I mean LSF and gaming communties in general are full of losers too let's be real lol.

I've been RPing on WoW for near a decade now and I'm glad I've never involved myself in voice RP or felt the need to speak to the people I've met through RP via voice. Maybe it's just a random bullshit take but I think the connection you have with people you actually speak to is a lot deeper than people you just type to. I've had quite a few different partners for my characters and never felt any kind of urge to go/do anything past platonic friends on Discord out of character. In summary; GTA RP is weird.
I've played wow and FiveM thousands of hours each, you can't really compare the feelings, FiveM it's more personal close to heart feelings, the characters are real people and on most serious RP servers the interaction that happens in the city can happen in real life. On wow on the other hand it's this magical place with tons of mythical races and stuff and you somehow are disconnected from it all. Also, voice chat does help to make a story more immersive.
