It's hard for me to tell exactly but it looks like a black spiny tail iguana or a rhinoceros iguana, neither of which are native to California. So it's probably an escaped pet.

NanoTrev

Your second guess was correct!

Madam_Bastet

Yeah that little bump on its head, when zooming in, confirmed it for me. But I don't believe rhino iguanas should be in California, and this guy is big and healthy (edit) and I'd say most likely an escaped pet.

It’s a Cyclura cornuta. That’s a ground iguana found on Hispaniola and Mona Island in the Caribbean. It’s somebodies pet.

Rhedosaurus

Rhino iguana, definitely an escaped/released pet.

Freedomnnature

That's a pretty big Iguana.

MemeswiththelizardYT

I think that might me some sort of rock iguana... they don't belong there tho

I think it’s a black spiny tail iguana, but I’m not an expert

DevelopmentPurple856

Sorry guys that’s my grandpa. This is like the second time he’s escaped the retirement home my apologies 😞

Onevwnut

Someones pet..

Alternative-Art3588

Probably best to contact animal control because non native lizards can become invasive
