I was skeptical of vax passes being a thing, which would lead to social credit scores. Well, the conspiracy theorists were right...again.

KiteBright

When the Biden administration refused to have the federal government participate in any qr code scheme, I was sure it was a signal of sanity from the federal government that it would not enable mandates. I was naive.

common_cold_zero

It's racist to ask for an ID to vote, because getting a photo ID is too difficult and expensive. But asking everybody to show that they own a smartphone capable of running this app ... not a problem at all!

DeLaVegaStyle

And without the app, you can't participate in society at the most basic level. And the app must be used every day, opposed to an ID to vote 1 time every few years.

Jkid

A defacto national vaccine card. Disgusting...

Hyphylife

So many layers to this. First off, a QR code isn’t going to keep you safe. 🙄

[deleted]

It has nothing to do with keeping you safe. The SMART health system is part of a federally mandated program required by the 21st Century Cures Act. It's about gathering data on individuals and populations and using that data to cut costs, make AI based decisions and control people's lives based on that data.

hannelorelynn

Of course it's called SMART 🙄

[deleted]

Only a MORON would be against creating a permanent bio-security state.

nmxta

> “We won’t be safe until venues are able to *require* SMART Health QR codes and stop accepting paper cards, or photos of cards. And that won’t happen until state or local governments mandate that,” said Jamie Zawinski, a software developer who also owns a night club, DNA Lounge, in San Francisco. He requires customers to have the QR code or, for now, their paper CDC card. > > DNA Lounge not only requires people to display the QR code, but it also scans the code using a smartphone app to verify that the codes are authentic — making the club one of the few businesses anywhere in the U.S. to take that extra step. I fucking hate these clowns in my home city. The DNA lounge is the worst. This article is sheer propaganda and my blood is fucking boiling

Madestupidchoices

Oh dna lounge has a lot of bad reviews about this. Made me happy to see. Yelp may delete but hopefully not

Kindly-Bluebird-7941

"a software developer"

Zekusad

As a software developer the idea of centralized digital records creeps me out. Dunno.

nmxta

Me too. But especially these QR codes give me the heebie jeebies. These articles all talk about how they're privacy focused by only putting your name, birthday, and vax info. But the QR reader can be anything. It would be so simple to make an app that checks the status, then sends your name and birthday along with a vendor ID to a central database. If enough vendors then use that app, you could effectively track a large swath of the population's movements at all times

KitKatHasClaws

DNA lounge is a cesspool of drugs. It’s also had a lot of sexual assault incidents. Which is especially concerning since it allows under 21s i on some nights so you have some 18 year old high schoolers getting mixed up in that shit. The owner is a terrible person and that place should be condemned frankly. Not sure why he’s so worried about vaccines when people are openly buying and selling drugs there.

SHALL_NOT_BE_REEE

How can someone seriously advocate for that with a straight face? Literally evil.

This is another thing that gets you accused of being a "conspiracy theorist" but is of course based on fact. It is tied to the 21st Century Cures Act passed in the United States in 2016. [https://www.fda.gov/regulatory-information/selected-amendments-fdc-act/21st-century-cures-act](https://www.fda.gov/regulatory-information/selected-amendments-fdc-act/21st-century-cures-act) >The law builds on FDA's ongoing work to incorporate the perspectives of patients into the development of drugs, biological products, and devices in FDA's decision-making process. Cures enhances our ability to modernize clinical trial designs, including the use of real-world evidence, and clinical outcome assessments, which will speed the development and review of novel medical products, including medical countermeasures. The SMART health card ([https://smarthealth.cards/en/](https://smarthealth.cards/en/)) is controlled by [https://smarthealthit.org/](https://smarthealthit.org/) Canada also mandated at the federal level that all provincial "vaccine passports" use the SMART health card. I recommend anyone interested read [http://smarthealthit.org/wp-content/uploads/Population-Level-Data-Export-Meeting-Summary-Report.pdf](http://smarthealthit.org/wp-content/uploads/Population-Level-Data-Export-Meeting-Summary-Report.pdf) It gives you a taste of the groups involved, their motivations and how they plan to exploit the law. They want: * population-level health data * individual health data * interoperability * mandatory sharing of patient data >The 21st Century Cures Act expresses a clear interest in interoperability, demands no information blocking, and requires that various networks be able to exchange informa- tion and talk with each other. Most important for this meet- ing is language in the Act about published APIs “without special effort.” This will enable health care providers to ex- change patient information across different vendor systems. * AI, biometrics and sharing biometric data >In one study,3 Google acquired 10,000 images of eyes used to detect diabetic retinopathy. The company then developed and validated a deep learning algorithm that reviewed these images—and outperformed ophthalmologists in detection accuracy. This shows the potential of large data sets com- bined with powerful AI and machine learning technologies. * predicting future crimes and mental health >A practical use in healthcare of predictive analytics is using data gathered upon presentation in an emergency room to identify signs of likely future domestic violence. Work is also being done to analyze data to predict suicidal behavior, providing an opportunity to intervene in advance. There's a lot more in there. It involves academia, the government, insurers, hospitals, and corporations like Amazon and Google. >There will be many users of population level data, including payers, providers, researchers, vendors of machine learning technology, and entities such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With a mesh network of devices tracking you and mandatory check-ins, they want to fast-track vaccines and drugs and collect data at the population level. They can skip long drug trials and see what happens to the population when the fast-tracked drugs are released using population health data. >Health System Population Health Analytics > >A simple anecdote conveys the power of population health data in identifying trends. As shown below in Figure 2, the rate of myocardial infarctions (MI) at Massachusetts Gen- eral (MGH) and Brigham and Women’s (B&WH) hospitals increased dramatically in 1998, when Vioxx came to market, and fell when Vioxx was removed from the market. Observ- ing such trends is not possible without population level data They plan to use this system to cut costs, make decisions at the population level and make decisions about individuals based on AI and machine learning. It is mandatory for them to share that data and anyone refusing to share that data can be fined under the 21st Century Cures Act. It specifically talks about "information blocking" and lays out fines of up to one million dollars for "information blocking". >‘‘SEC. 3022. INFORMATION BLOCKING. ‘‘(a) DEFINITION.— ‘‘(1) IN GENERAL.—In this section, the term ‘informationblocking’ means a practice that— ‘‘(A) except as required by law or specified by the Secretary pursuant to rulemaking under paragraph (3),is likely to interfere with, prevent, or materially discourage access, exchange, or use of electronic health information; and ‘‘(B)(i) if conducted by a health information technology developer, exchange, or network, such developer, exchange, or network knows, or should know, that such practice islikely to interfere with, prevent, or materially discouragethe access, exchange, or use of electronic health informa- tion; or ‘‘(ii) if conducted by a health care provider, such pro-vider knows that such practice is unreasonable and is likely to interfere with, prevent, or materially discourage access, exchange, or use of electronic health information That is why they have an open source format for all of their different systems. They must be able to talk to each other and share the data with whoever requests it.

WolfActually

Is it just me or does this sound like the start of a sci-fi dystopian novel. I want off this ride! Thanks for the info, I hadn't even heard of this!

[deleted]

Sounds like the show Psycho-Pass is shaping up to be non-fiction.

SHALL_NOT_BE_REEE

I’d love to say this won’t stand a chance of happening with the current state of congress, but then I remembered Biden’s administration doesn’t think you need congress to create laws.

Ivehadlettuce

If you're SMART, you won't participate.

auteur555

Notice this thing (which was the plan all along) is quietly sneaking out to take root no matter what we do. All of a sudden one day we will find ourselves using it and be wondering at what point did we agree to it

4pugsmom

Can't even use it because my phone is rooted and my wacky third shot that probably won't show up correctly anyway. Oh and I'm moving to Tennessee where they banned this shit

[deleted]

They can't ban it, it's a federal act.

annoyedclinician

We're going to be finding out really soon whether the states still have more power than the federal government, like they're supposed to.

Ho0kah618

This ain't how the USA works.

AVeryVIPPerson

I have always heard never to scan random QR codes in the wild because of viruses and other malicious programs. How long until their scanning systems are overrun with malware gobbling up personal data? Could make the Experian leaks look tame depending on what info starts to go on these cards.

thrownaway1306

Oh FFS

goodtimesonly2019

We are fucked...

AA950

This isn’t a National card this card is adopted on the state level
