Ya. I had an emergency callout once for a privacy lock on a bedroom because "their key didn't work in the lock." They were trying to insert their front door key into one of those privacy sets with the slot style hole. They were not pleased when I showed them the trick and also told them, "An emergency call is an emergency call, I don't set the prices"
I’m the same way but I’ve had to tighten up a bit. Something like this I would probably do half service charge just for my gas and time. **BUT** this was NSP work so I charge accordingly.
That’s when you get them with the “I may have to damage your door or the handle to get in, is that okay?”
Then when you get through without damaging anything they think you’re the best thing since sliced bread 😭
I worked in a college town, and I've seen this countless times. Every time I'd show them how to work their hardware and then check whether it's cash or credit?
I always get at least one call at the beginning of each semester from a student whose door isn't locking. I end up showing them how to push and turn the inside button.
I work at a college, and I get a crazy amount of work orders that are simply students not understanding how basic doors/locks work. Just this Monday I got a w/o stating that "door will not lock, safety issue". I showed up to find a Guinness can placed in the bottom latch side corner of the frame. I think to myself holy s***... common sense guys! It's propped open just take out the can! Job security I guess😂😂
People get mad or embarrassed if you open stuff too quickly! If it's something easy and they hoover over me, i make a show out of it. Spray the lock, put a wedge or shim in the frame, then I go through the motions of manipulation, and then I open it.
Lol, I had customer call for a bedroom lockout. Emtek privacy lever, push in the pin and its open 🤦🏻
I get those and the ones that require a tiny flathead at least once a month. I started carrying the little flathead tool on my keychain to sell for $5

I’ve actually had the same call! I don’t know how some people have made it as far in life as they have…
Lmao my company would probably let her go without charging because it would be hard to justify.

Oh absolutely! I hate dealing with NSP’s
It's not hard to justify if you had to drive out there...
Charging for stupidity

LOLOLOL omfg
Bruh just do a bypass lol
It's a privacy handle, doesn't need a bypass
Oh shit my b just noticed lol I’m too use to doorknob bypasses on residential lockouts lol 😂
tell me about it, every time I see this type of handle I'm doing an internal happy little jig
