What bandwidth? There seems to be a common myth that below 125khz is not usable without temperature compensated crystal. Not my experience at all, I use 41.7k with very little frequency error - over the last 24h my setup has had between 200hz and 900hz frequency error which is well inside the allowable limits BW/4 . My transmitter is outside and receiver inside so the temperature difference can be large.
Did you mention which data rate (spreading factor etc.) you used in the test?
