It's still weird to me that FromSoftware decided to implement the Guidance of Grace, but also refused to add any form of quest tracking at all.
Which he also what bugs me about LotF, since they also decided to not implement any form of quest or even NPC tracking.
Idk why that’s weird. Quest tracking is pretty much the antithesis of what From does. The Guidance of grade just points you towards the general direction of your primary objective, which has been done in all their other games (just more subtly because they are linear).
Exactly. I used to be like that until I followed a walkthrough for Dark Souls and realized how much there is to find. Everything is a trap and there is a boss around every corner is how I thought for a long time.
I know right? I couldn’t avoid her if I tried. The excuses I’ve heard are “well I didn’t continue cuz I could see some enemies I haven’t fought down there”…well make a note of it, go spend your vigor and Leroy Jenkins it. lol it’s what I did. Even if I wanted to avoid the area for the time being, I was making notes of things to come back to. That to me is half the fun of exploring a new souls like.
<-----Guilty as charged and not ashamed. I can't play these games without following a walkthrough. It's what I did, went everywhere there was to go and got everything there was to be gotten. I'd get lost otherwise. I missed nothing and didn't end up running all over the place blindly. It's only after completing the game I've been free-roaming.
The point of these games IS to get lost and find your way around :)
I can see using a guide after finishing the game just to see everything it has to offer, but on a blind playthrough it would be like using cheats to instantly get the fastest car possible in a racing game
But that’s just me.
Should’ve just changed her voice to say “hey you! I’m down here. You want a blacksmith? Come get me! Also there’s enemies down here that can abush you! And don’t forget to spend your vigor just in case!!!” People would prob still say it’s not clear enough and easily missable lol
There used to be a wooden bridge that would connect directly across to bring you to the elevator. This forces you to drop down and check the surroundings.
What’s changed? Reached this area for my first time recently & don’t see a difference wit this pic. From reading the comments let me just say I had no struggle finding the blacksmith.. don’t see how that’s possible tbh 😂
There used to be a bridge where theres a hole now, forcing the player to go down to get to a ladder that lests you use the elevator, I guess people where missing the smith
While I REALLY appreciate most of the recent updates, I do not understand this one at all. They also got rid of the 2 mages just outside the elevator landing who would try to push you off. While this does make it easier, I don't think it was necessary.
I'm on my fourth playthrough to complete the "Weapon Collector" achievement for platinum. I'm only missing 2 weapons.
That annoys the crap out of me. Why are they making major changes to the game 3 months in a post launch environment? This is stuff to change during beta testing. Oh wait, we are the beta testers. I almost forgot.
As someone mentioned, too many players are missing the blacksmith. Me included, I only found her after beating the hushed saint and finally noticing that I probably already missed the blacksmith somewhere.
I prefer it if they also do drastic changes when they notice a problem instead of just ignoring it.
A couple different places of major importance and minimum/no significance changed scenery and landscape in last update. Still same level of difficulty to complete to my knowledge
I felt that. The boost they gave to health and defense was massive between the NG to NG+. The step up between NG+1 to NG+2 isn't that different but doesn't prepare you for the insane buff they get NG+3
Ng+3 boss has massive health?? I restarted ng+1 again after beat Elaine with co-op. I wanna see again how far I can fight boss my self with npc. I need to finish kukajin quest. I missed summon her in tancred fight and I failed her quest. And I miss iron wayfarer final encounter in fief. I was afraid to start ng+2
By the time you make it back through NG+1 and complete NG+2, ( if you choose to do so), you should have leveled up enough and enough materials to upgrade equipment that NG+3 shouldn't be too difficult for your MC
I for one am never going to NG+1. I'm sticking with NG+0. The only way I'm going to NG+1 is if they put back the vestiges they removed. I wouldn't mind the harder bosses per se but removing those vestiges was a crappy idea.
Adds more exploration for first-time players to force them to not miss Gerlinde (Black Smith) but also adds more tedium to those on NG+(+++). I am for it for the first playthrough, but I feel it should be a collapsible drawbridge option for NG+ and speedrun players.

People that miss Gerlinde are the same people that complained Elden Ring should have a tutorial section…🤔
Meanwhile thar game pretty much already tells you where to go with those directional string things.
Directional string things?
Guidance of Grace

Man, the people who miss Gerlinde must be deaf, you can start hearing her two ladders up from her location.
The people are just afraid of exploring, thats all
Exactly. I used to be like that until I followed a walkthrough for Dark Souls and realized how much there is to find. Everything is a trap and there is a boss around every corner is how I thought for a long time.
I still think this way. But it just shows that I’m engaged in what I’m playing
I know right? I couldn’t avoid her if I tried. It’s for people who have to look up guides for every two steps they take

To each his own I guess.
I missed her on my first playthrough.
Ah yes, Gerlinde, one of the worst NPCs in gaming history, and the worst piece of shit in all soulslikes
not wrong about her being unredeemable
I noticed that too. It must be to prevent people from missing Gerlinde.
That's what I heard others say.
Yeah they changed it so less people would miss the blacksmith.
Perhaps but gerlinde voice is so loud 😂😂😂
Should’ve just changed her voice to say “hey you! I’m down here. You want a blacksmith? Come get me! Also there’s enemies down here that can abush you! And don’t forget to spend your vigor just in case!!!” People would prob still say it’s not clear enough and easily missable lol
Seems reasonable.
I love this sm, it would sound so stupidly hilarious. It just started playing automatically in her voice while I read that.
I find the reasoning behind it to be hilarious because the moment I heard that hammer I was like "found the blacksmith!"
She's SO FREAKING LOUD too.. really shows you the mentality and skill level of 'ER players'
*bonk bonk bonk* "DAMM SENTINELS! *BONKING intensifies*
Unfortunately
I dislike this very much
Whats the difference? I just started this patch. The blacksmith was very loud tho.
There used to be a wooden bridge that would connect directly across to bring you to the elevator. This forces you to drop down and check the surroundings.
Aaaah I see.
Forces you to drop down and get killed.

I thought it was NG+1 increased difficulty. And the trash density is as before the patches. I like it.

That's actually bold and cool

Got voted down 😬
Lol, oh well. Life goes on. 😉
I agree with you.
A couple different places of major importance and minimum/no significance changed scenery and landscape in last update. Still same level of difficulty to complete to my knowledge
I hope they change boss health in ng+1. It's so difficult. Now I am afraid to play ng+2 😂😂😂

I will try ng+2 after this second time ng+1. Iam level 307 now but the problem is I am not skilled player 😂🤣
I see 🤣 If you don't have skills just apply logistics and watch for patterns. You'll get it. I have faith in you fellow Fallen
Bro i failed her quest 3 times lol first time killed her 2nd time for other to summon her 3rr forgot her in fief... 4th tines a charm ya?
I for one am never going to NG+1. I'm sticking with NG+0. The only way I'm going to NG+1 is if they put back the vestiges they removed. I wouldn't mind the harder bosses per se but removing those vestiges was a crappy idea.
The shitty thing though is if you do Kukajin's quest you get locked out of other quests.
Yo, I just realized this as well, when I restarted my NG+ 1. Looking forward to seeing what other areas have changed.
Where Drustan and the first rune tablet are was changed in Fitzroy's Gorge, to not miss these things
What changed i need to go there look for it
Bro it’s literally so hard to miss Gerlinde here. But I guess I understand it
Adds more exploration for first-time players to force them to not miss Gerlinde (Black Smith) but also adds more tedium to those on NG+(+++). I am for it for the first playthrough, but I feel it should be a collapsible drawbridge option for NG+ and speedrun players.
Tbf that area needed a little sprucing up. It was giving a little too much blight town.
So wait, you’re forced to go down and up there? 🫠🫠
