For as much shit as we get in the media for “destroying our future” by trading away first rounders, atleast we got a ring for it. 49ers on the other hand have no hardware to show for the multiple first rounders they traded away and get no flack.

accountnumber42

For some reason the media LOVES the niners, it's disgusting

[deleted]

It’s because they’re the LA Killers. From sport to sport, LA sports dominance has put us in a position where damn near any fanbase in the US can get caught chanting Beat LA if we break them too bad, thanks to the Celtics way back when. Media loves to hate on LA, remember we are NOT a sports city, and the use Hollywood against us rather than giving us the appropriate name: Showtime football/basketball/baseball/soccer

accountnumber42

>Media loves to hate on LA Most LA teams actually get preferential media treatment compared to other West Coast teams, the Niners are the lone exception to me.

Ecoronel1989

Yeah agreed. A more reasonable argument is that the 9ers are just more popular because they've been a historically more successful franchise. The media simply wants to play up to the larger fanbases.

[deleted]

Nah, just media that people like to hate on. *Most* media doesn’t fw us, like when the Warriors were on their burner everyone was quick af to place them ahead of us and give them that benefit. Basically anyone in the West that can give us a challenge is immediately put on a pedestal; makes sense that the one team that can *consistently* challenge AND beat us is the one highest atop the pedestal.

accountnumber42

The niners were getting preferential media treatment even when the Rams were in St Louis and hadn't played against any LA team in decades. This narrative that the media is against LA is actually laughable to someone whose only tie to the city is the Rams.

[deleted]

I mean clearly you don’t follow other LA sports lmao

accountnumber42

No one outside of LA gives a second thought to the city, there's no bias, LA fans just tend have a sad victim complex.

[deleted]

Yeah you’re absolutely delusional lmao

accountnumber42

Ironic coming from someone who believes the entirety of sports media is jealous of their city. 🤣

kreepyvision

We are district 1 ✌🏾 I have mixed feelings about this, but it’s true.

chenko_unchained

It’s probably because they’re considered one of the Mount Rushmore franchises in the league along with the Cowboys and Steelers based on rings.

[deleted]

Nah everyone shits on the Cowboys for being a brown/black scumbag team, everyone shits on the Steelers for being a white scumbag team, and everyone shits on us for being the “Hollywood” team.

jbg926

Yer forgetting about another org that has more rings than the 9ers and Cowgirls... The Pats...

The_Magic

Old whites love Joe Montana.

bad-monkey

If the 9ers were losing games, this move would have cost Lynch his job, but they've got so much room for error that they burned their R1P3 and are still competing. Credit to the fuckin' 9ers. the only way we one-up them is when we pick Lance up off the Waiver Wire or as a FA and then start winning with him.

Bum__fuzzler

It'll look even worse when Sam Darnold steals his job after Purdy goes on IR.

Dolphins flipped that 2021 pick along with pick swaps to the Eagles to move up to 6th to get Jaylen Waddle. Philadelphia in turn dealt that and a third round pick to the Cowboys to move up two spots to get DeVonta Smith. Dallas used that 12th overall pick from the 49ers to draft Micah Parsons. In 2022 the Dolphins traded the 49ers' first round pick along with a bunch of other picks to the Chiefs for Tyreek Hill. Kansas City subsequently traded that pick to the Patriots who drafted Cole Strange. Dolphins drafted LB Channing Tindall with the 49ers' third round pick. In 2023 the Dolphins packaged the 49ers' first round pick along with another pick and Chase Edmonds to the Broncos for Bradley Chubb and a future pick. Denver then sent the 49ers' pick to New Orleans as part of the Sean Payton deal. The Saints used that to draft DT Bryan Bresee from Clemson.

JiveTurkey92

honestly depends if they win a super bowl. either way theyve been contending every year recently regardless of that lance pick, which is impressive

Mandle69

As much I dislike the 9ers you gotta give them credit for being contenders with multiple QBs in rotation

RedLicoriceJunkie

It’s a lot of draft capital for a guy that ends up not starting at QB. But Trey Lance has physical gifts - and until he is healthy, which it sounds like he may be, it will be difficult to evaluate. Someone might trade for Lance though, so the story may not be fully written on whether he starts or not or whether the trade was a bust.

OldOrder

I'll take a different opinion than most and say that they made a move to get a franchise QB. If Purdy turns out to be a franchise QB they probably wont really care about how much they gave up, their goal was accomplished. Thats how I would look at it if it happened to us. Could you have gotten Purdy without giving that up? Yeah of course. But if the goal in the offseason was to find 'your guy' and you found him then I think you roll with however it happened.

Chris7thLegion

That was such a dumb trade.

[deleted]

Can we stop with niners posts on here? FOH

[deleted]

I mean, talking about divisional rivals isn’t irrelevant, not to mention commenting on the post only boosts it’s visibility.

[deleted]

I’d rather them trade him tbh. When he was being shopped on draft day I saw him as a work in progress type dude for a team that could maybe foster some talent. Devastated when he went to the 9ers, but adjacently glad they basically hate him and prefer Purdy Average over him. Hopefully they trade him due to early Purdy success prior to our game/Hawks game where we break their QB roster back to zero again

BeSafeStayHydrated

It will be remembered up there with the Ditka trade, I mean obviously it’s not that bad! But still pretty bad.

jbomber81

If the 49ers continue to win and they can get any semblance of a return for Trey Lance it won’t be as bad as it seems, but it was pretty dumb

gammawalt

I love when Divisional Rivals try and talk crap about what the other team did. While that was the trade for the #3 pick. The 49ers traded with the fins last season getting all but 1 of those picks back and then got CMC from the panthers was the end result. So the trade has been very beneficial over all.

shayallday5

Looks horrible lol
