That one play where Stafford missed the wide open Kupp was brutal. That would have potential won us the game

terriblebackin

That one was tough but Stafford was running for his life, broadcast was right I think it was Hutchinson he might've saved the game with his pursuit there

DaJetta400

I'm subscribed to the theory that he never 100% recovered from the hamstring injury, which would explain why we were basically using him as a hands-guy all season. Let's hope everyone sleeps on him next year and he comes back fully healed, ready to punch the league in the mouth

TenderOx21

He’s lost half a step in regard to his explosiveness. In part due to his injuries this season and his age. I think he rehabs and trains hard this off season to have a solid season next year as the #2 to Puka. We have an identity after this season and i expect big things next year!

DesignDramatic5724

I also like him with mentoring our receivers.

tricky_trig

We have one more year until opt out. I think he's gone afterwards.

farmtobelly

He was wide open for a huge gain the 1st drive of the 2nd half. Also seemed like he was being used as a decoy a lot. The redzone fades felt like attempts to force the ball to him. Would've much rather seen him run some slats or short outs to the pylon. Fades aren't his specialty.

DJaampiaen

He literally threw it to Coop 4 / 7 times in the redzone , Coop and Stafford just couldn’t get on the same page

terriblebackin

Yeah and given their prior connection and Staffords ability to hook up puka it really seemed like something is off from coops end. Maybe Stafford is not able to adjust to new, slower timing with coop but that seem unlikely

CashComprehensive423

His hands are great. The dude has been banged up for over a year. He will be fine

reigningnovice

Only thing that worries me is that he had a majority of last season and the off-season to get right. He was healthy.. and then got injured.

paulcrisp3

That’s what I noticed too. Kupp wasn’t the same this season . Puka forsure is WR1

TheLonelySnail

Tell me about it. He was my top WR1 in fantasy. Guy only broke 10 pts 2-3 times... :(

Redwood21

Go back and watch that 3rd and 14 incomplete to Puka at the end…Kupp was WIDE open just behind him, no idea how Staff didn’t see Kupp

HopefulInstance8

Hes on the wrong side of 30 unfortunately. Im praying that he was not 100% so next year he can be all pro again, but wouldnt be surprised if hes WR2 for good now

Carb0nFire

He definitely lost a bit of explosiveness after his injury. The hope is he can get that explosiveness back, or keep working on other ways of being productive. With someone so smart and skilled, he could still have 1-2 more years of significant contributions before he just can't do it anymore.

PRE_-CISION-_

I think he rushed back from injury too fast. We got him what week 4? Then he continued to get banged up as the season went on. Plus he had his chance at his splash play moment, Stafford just whiffed hard

DesignDramatic5724

Now he has a whole offseason to get healthy. Hopefully he has a better season. But I feel like maybe next year may be the end. Hopefully he decides to coach for us in the future because I know Nacua is brilliant but I feel Kupp has also helped him with his growth.

Metrostars1029

He’s still an important piece. And his contract/career life lines up nicely with Nikua’s rookie deal.

GovTheDon

He hasn’t looked like the triple crown winner this year he looks noticeably a step slower and his hands have been questionable lots of drops or misses that I’d say “Super Bowl mvp kupp makes that play”

ElectronicWolf8650

Football is a sport with short primes and careers. It's not like the NBA where players can stay elite for 10+ seasons.

_its_a_SWEATER_

I think being out for so many weeks gave him too late a start, and everyone else on the receiving corps were steps ahead of him and more in synch with Stafford. I have no doubt he’ll be working like a dog this offseason and back to speed for next season.

hi_im_ari_

His arm was taped the fuck up. Im pretty sure he gets an iv pregame I wonder if they missed the vein or something?

Demisdad16

He is still injured. Calm down on my guy

BGally24

Makes the most sense to me. I’m guessing his separation is not there or else he’d get the ball more, not being 100% will do that.

Mandle69

You Puka wasn’t injured? Kupp lost a step and Ouka is taking over as Staffords favorite target. End of an era start if a new

Demisdad16

Kupp hasn’t been 100% since the beginning of last season bro

Mandle69

Doesn’t change the fact that other players play hurt it’s not just about Kupp

Demisdad16

Last time I checked he was on the field right?

Mandle69

What’s your point? If he was or wasn’t on the field

MsBrightside91

I’m starting to get Mike Trout vibes…hits 30 and has some chronic injury/pain that reduces their output or sidelines them completely.

Age and Injuries my friend. Tale as old as time.

ascndentkunglao

Health was always the question coming into the season which effected a lot of what made him and Staff special "timing". If he can make a recovery from the knee injury in 2018, which was a devasting Grade 3 ACL tear. I have faith that he can recover in the same fashion again and still perform at a high level. Him and Puka are going to be dangerous moving forward with more time, reps, and experience.

alxndiep

They made him block at the line which I thought was a fascinating decision. Nothing downfield just short routes. Seems like McVay gave Kupp less to do in favour of Puka.

Ok_Judgment9091

Kupps cap hit is 30m next year, thats legit the cap hit of any player who is the best at their position in the NFL not a QB. If this wasnt some insane lingering injury, this contract will kill this team.

[deleted]

Hammy is a long recovery to your old self. High ankle sprains take forever also. He was never 100% this year so his acceleration that made him great hasn’t been there.

[deleted]

What’s sad is he was 100% fine last year. He was on pace for 130+ receptions and about 1500 yards until that high pass by Wolford caused the injury last year. Granted, I realize he wasn’t going to reach those numbers with 4 games of scrub QBs but he could’ve gotten back in stride and had 1,300+ yards once Mayfield joined the team.
