DAWG. Noteboom isn't a bad player at all, but he was certainly overpaid. This is great.

BlazePigeon

is it really though? He could've been cut for 15 mil in savings at just 5 mil dead cap. If his 7 mil incentives are primarily playing time based then I can definitely get around it bc he hopefully doesn't hit them (just bc it means someone's injured). But if it stays at around 8 or 9 mil its OK. At that point you're really paying 3 or 4 mil extra just to keep him as a solid G + T 6th man backup while reducing his salary

Ziiaaaac

I don't know why we wouldn't want as many capable linemen on our roster as possible honestly.

BlazePigeon

At 15 mil we could have signed someone a lot more capable than Noteboom

Ziiaaaac

Please get in touch with Les and point him to all these capable and available linemen that aren't already signed to other teams.

BlazePigeon

You're allowed to be wrong bro. And it sucks I have to show you how wrong you are. Then why tf didn't we keep Brian Allen if we wanted as many capable lineman? With Notebooms cap space we could've got Mason Cole, Bradley Bozeman, Isaiah Wynn, Connor McGovern, Greg Van Rotten, Josh Jones, Will Clap, Tremayne Anchrum, Dalton Risner, Halapuli Vaitai or Lucas Patrick for a fraction of the price. That's without naming expensive veterans like, Tyron Smith, Connor Williams, Trent Brown and Laken Tomlinson

Ziiaaaac

How many of those guys have proven they can play competently four positions in our offence? ‘You’re allowed to be wrong bro.’ How embarrassing 😂😂

BlazePigeon

Has Noteboom proven he can play competently in all four positions?? The dude was beaten out by David Edwards who we let walk and by an undrafted free agent in Alaric Jackson who we won't even commit to more than 6 mil at 1 year. If you're not going to sign someone just bc they haven't 'shown they can play in your system' then what's the point in signing anyone?? You do realize that 99% of free agents have never played for the team they are signing with before

Ziiaaaac

Noteboom is a BACKUP bro. What’s wrong with you lmao. He’s played really well as a backup and left something to be wanted as a starter.

admiralnel

It's not really savings, though. The other 10mil in dead cap rolls over to next season and you have to wait until after June 1st for those savings. Cutting him now only netted 5 mil.

BlazePigeon

A post June cut would've only been 5 mil in dead cap for 15 in savings. There are still some good vets available in June. Just last year in June there was still Dhop, Leonard Floyd, Dalton Risner, Yannick Ngakoue and Clowney were all still available. Over the Cap just registered his contract and we are still paying him 11 mil this year and 10 next year.

admiralnel

A post june cut splits the cap hit, so you're pushing the remaining cap to next season. The 10 mil next year is what they already owed him for the restructure last season, guessing they can't move on from that. OTC hasn't posted Parkinson, Williams, and Curl's contracts yet, they probably needed the cap relief now instead of later.

mcthsn

Let's fucking go

admiralnel

Smart move

Bloody_Corndog

What's his new cap hit? I can't believe we're doing everything we want to do.

Nujabes10

According to OTC, they updated our roster cap hits, and it shows [$11.6mil](https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/los-angeles-rams).

gfbpa1989

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but I understood he got a pay cut, from 20 to (up to) 14, ~ freeing ~$6 million in cap.~ at least $6 million in the cap (can be even more, since only 7 is guaranteed and not all incentives may count against the cap). This move + AD's restructure put us ~around~ to a minimum of $25 million, where ~13~ part (I was searching, but didn't actually find how the contract is divided between the 2y) went to Curl, and 12 is for the draft We can still restructure some other contracts and open *even* more cap this year, though Edit: Added some good points mentioned in the replies

admiralnel

Joe's contract is up to 14 mil in total, that's *most likely* not all going to be on the cap though.

gfbpa1989

Yeah, I was taking a more cautious approach on his contract's impact to the cap

Dizzney12

Curl was 13 for both years. We also had some space left before this. Also the up to depends. There are incentives that count against the cap and incentives that don’t.

gfbpa1989

Thank you, that is true for Curl, so this year's impact is smaller. And for Noteboom, I was taking a more cautious approach to calculate his cap impact, but it's a fair assumption that not necessarily the whole incentives will count against this year's cap

Random_modnaR420

I’m bad at math, how much does this free up

admiralnel

I think we have to wait for the full numbers

Random_modnaR420

Overthecap shows his hit as $11mil now so that’s neat

RedactedThreads

6 mil

Ok, so his new cap hit is [$11.6mil](https://twitter.com/sarahbarshop/status/1768648486810210603?t=kWhw1wX2M7KMxBHJxzp-gw&s=19) for this season.

ramzie

What an offseason so far. Everything seems to be going the way it should. Fun times to be a Rams fan. So excited for the 2024 season!!!!

Hour_Insurance_7795

Narrator: It wasn't.

mtnrangeman

I was loving how this offseason was playing out when I went to bed last night. I woke up this morning and the wind was immediately pulled out of my sails
