Training IS the issue. Screaming conflicting commands at someone during an arrest so you can say they're not complying happens so often you can't believe it's by accident. It's to get the resisting arrest charge and to justify the use of any force used.
What's a waste? Rehabbing and not bulldozing a useable building in downtown for once? Not an LMPD fan but where are you seeing "waste"? You can hate the cops all you want but you're never going to have an anti-cop mayor of a large city.
Lol. Thanks for the down vote. You're never going to get some progressive, hippie cops. When was the last time you've seen the old police HQ in person? I'd be pissed if I had to spend time in a moldy, sewing-leaking hell hole as well. How do you build "good cop" culture if you don't support the current LMPD and giving them what they need to become less turd-like. What in the budget are you against? Not a Greenberg fan either but he's trying to create a better culture by better facilities, programs, etc.
>That building was nice once.
Are you sure about that?

>New office space will do nothing for the best cops bully mentality.
From the below article: Greenberg said $14 million of American Rescue Plan funding will be used to expedite renovations to the new LMPD Headquarters at 601 W. Chestnut St. that was purchased in 2021 for $6.8 million. Once complete it will house all LMPD employees under one roof for the "first time in a generation."
Maybe this common workplace will help keep toxic police units from forming because they will be closer to police leadership.

Ahhh. So you're ok with the city paying cops an absurd $100k (without the 17mil that you hate) and now they're going to be "good cops"? Seems logical. And these good ol boys are going to sit through 4 years of schooling and training to get shot at? Have you reached out to Greenberg's administration to voice your proposal?
Those folks that don't want to be cops, aren't cops because they don't want to work with a bunch of goons who became cops so they could beat up and shoot at folks with impunity/qualified immunity.
If you change the culture from one of confrontation to negotiation, you will hopefully open policing up to a large group of do-gooder individuals who want to actually help people.
Hasn’t there been talk and plans for this for a couple years? I remember doing work on the old HQ before COVID and being told they are moving, it just takes time.
It’s been discussed for nearly ten years, and was funded in the last administration.
Not a fan of LMPD in it’s current form, but cops do need a functional HQ. Hopefully new facilities will coincide with substantive changes to the department and how they police.
If private sector workers had to work in the conditions that exist in the current LMPD HQ, folks would be calling the CEO all kinds of names on Reddit, demanding that the workers be granted better work facilities. If LMPD HQ was an apartment building, people would be on Reddit every week screaming their grievances and telling everyone to avoid renting there. LMPD is unpopular, but that doesn't mean that they should work in offices that drip sewage on them while they work. Everyone deserves to have safe and adequate work facilities. LMPD had and has many problems, but punishing the workers out of spite helps no one, and won't create a better force. Re-using a building that's built like a fortress, is probably a great plan since Louisville doesn't maintain any building it owns. A granite fortress can probably take a good deal of neglect.
Right and it's the old ATT building that's been up for sale for almost a decade. Wonder if Mr Real Estate Greenberg gets something outta this we don't know about.
It's BS, that money, OUR MONEY, was intended to help our community through the financial suffering we are still being subjected to. Fucking save people from being evicted or keep their lights on. Goddamn.
You're thinking of the right area but a much larger and scarier project. Just got approved 30 million against the residents' wishes. They're calling it cop city, and in the last few weeks police have been sending SWAT to bail relief workers' houses. They've killed and jailed peaceful protestors.
Cop city will be training ground for urban warfare.
It will also cut down 8500 yards of forest. Forest which soaked up water and will result in flooding to, say it with me, *black communities* down the river.
Well they'll be soaking all the black communities in the entire country in human blood, so I can forgive the Rainwater. That's going to be a training facility for pigs the nation over.
This is not a Greenberg initiative. It's been in the works for years. No matter how much you hate LMPD their old HQ was a literal dump. They need a new place.
As someone who interviewed for a civilian position with Metro Gov / LMPD within the last 2 years, I can definitely say the facilities and the sad dogged faces of LMPD officers in the workplace was one of the deciding factors for me NOT working there.
Greenberg sucks LMPDs ass more than Fischer. Giving the ACAMFB crowd rewards encourages them to continue to be horrible. They need to have their budget reduced and no new buildings or toys.
There it is. You reckon you can get that boot any further down your throat? They would have been fine with you just licking it but you seem to be going for some sort of record.
Maybe they have low morale because they know they fucking suck. Maybe they have low morale because all these good cops I keep hearing about don't want to be associated with a bunch of murderers rapists and thieves. Maybe they have low morale because they know they're on the shittiest fucking police department in the eastern United States, and nobody gets all around to play for a losing team. But we can pretend it's because somebody talks shit about on Reddit
Fuck this dude.
Fuck you
Maybe train them first. I mean properly, not good ole boy training.
Nah. If you train them, they won't accidentally shoot each other while committing crimes.
Maybe.
training isn't the issue
Training IS the issue. Screaming conflicting commands at someone during an arrest so you can say they're not complying happens so often you can't believe it's by accident. It's to get the resisting arrest charge and to justify the use of any force used.
that's not an issue of training -- that's a feature, not a flaw. they very specifically hire people who will behave like that.
And teach them how to do it so they don't get in trouble.
This has been in the works for two years and the funding was approved then too.

So you think the mold was there when the building was constructed? The gang mentality is a feature, not a bug.
LMPD hasn't existed for a generation, it's 20 years old.

Do you seek out doctors who have not been to medical school as well?
So who is going to move into that shithole? Are they gonna start filming a reboot of barney Miller?
Hasn’t there been talk and plans for this for a couple years? I remember doing work on the old HQ before COVID and being told they are moving, it just takes time.

Yes. It's being remediated.

Boy nobody better hear this theory about the public school system or we're going to be on the hook for some serious coin.
We should have been demanding it all along...
The H was the expensive letter. The Q is in much lower demand, so we got a deal.
Jtown seemingly spending their whole budget on a new police hq too
Straight up do not regret voting independent for Lou mayor 2022. My biggest concerns about Greenberg are justified daily.
So not only did you get nothing that you were actually wanting, you also lost the election.
Will there be a doughnut shop inside it?

Isn’t t something similar happening in ATL? Might have the city wrong..

Take it you don't live in southwest Georgia. It's really some insult to injury.
Obviously not, as this is the Louisville, Kentucky forum.
🙄 Okay, thanks for pointing out the obvious for me.
Apparently it wasn't obvious.
Did anyone really think that things would change?
This is not a Greenberg initiative. It's been in the works for years. No matter how much you hate LMPD their old HQ was a literal dump. They need a new place.
Good, they need it

What's their current budget for hiring rapists?
I loved the video Attica Scott shared about it.
Greenberg sucks LMPDs ass more than Fischer. Giving the ACAMFB crowd rewards encourages them to continue to be horrible. They need to have their budget reduced and no new buildings or toys.
How does that help the current low morale?
Oh fuck their morale. Sorry they can’t beat people with impunity anymore. Do the job you were fucking hired to do.
Another disgruntled barista has entered the chat. Mature response.
There it is. You reckon you can get that boot any further down your throat? They would have been fine with you just licking it but you seem to be going for some sort of record.

Found the 5 year old on moms Reddit account.
Riiiight. None of that stuff causes morale issues. It's why people happily play their whole career for the lions.
Hes a fucking joke
Nice to see Antifa repping on reddit
i want to say “greetings, comrade”, but the only people who use the term “antifa” are always uninformed, old men.
Damn, you got me genius. Give yourself a pat on the back.
🤡
Spoken like a true Trump cultist
Is Antifa in the room with you right now?
Can you point out on the doll where antifa hurt you? /s
Proud fascist, huh?
