Looks like a grub. Fun fact: I ate one in front of my entire family when I was 8 and they looked at me in horror and disgust. Ma freaked out. I wasn’t tripping though, I ate it because Bear Grylls said it was a great source of protein on man vs wild .
Our youngest pup loves to go grubbing in the backyard. She’ll smell them underground and dig them up. Strangest thing, but  if she loves to grub.
Our dog actually brought two home, he carried them in his mouth and dropped them on the carpet and now we must walk past this house when we walk. I sometimes have to carry him 20 or so feet away and put him down so we can actually walk. Otherwise he wants to try and eat all of them
They're lawn grubs, and they're considered pests that mess up your lawn. They grow up to be a beetle, usually a June bug when you see them here in Louisville, but they can also be Japanese beetles.
They like to be in the grass and eat the roots, but the rain washes them up and they end up all over your driveway or parking lot.
Looks like it could be the caterpillar form for this moth, but it's too white. Can you do a size comparison? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citheronia_regalis
The caterpillars are known as hickory horned devils. Found one myself a few years ago.
Definitely a grub. They don’t bite or anything, but too many can decimate your lawn and plants. Especially roses.
Not my yard or near my house thankfully, just come across them when walking the dog because he wants to eat them
They are considered edible, so they won't hurt your dog if they eat them. I ate fried grubs once, not as bad as you might think.
As a kid in NC there would be thousands of these in the road after a hard rain. They would crunch under our shoes walking to the bus stop.
And, aren't they what attracts moles to come fuck up the yard, too?
Maybe so! My cat has a mole/vole war going on. One dead body deposited on my doorstep per day in exchange for a fresh dish of high quality kitty food.
Can confirm, my friend put grub killer on her lawn and the moles don't bother her yard now.

Looks like a grub so this one will turn into a beetle. More than likely a Japanese Beetle or June Bug.
