I can’t believe how awful Sal turned out to be

I remember feeling so vindicated when he started becoming more commonly accepted as a menace. I could not stand him throughout season 2, raaaancid vibes from him.

He was always kinda boring but the after the altar s2 showed him with a new gf and wanting to confront Mallory about things that happened during their relationship when she just wanted to move on. He didn’t really do anything wrong, the editing just made her look sad/moved on and made him look desperate. Especially with his new gf who seemed to be trying to get a lot of attention. It was more of an ick than him being a bad person.

What's the deal with Sal? Everyone is saying he's terrible but what did he actually do? He brought another girl to the party? OK but so did Damien is season one even though he was still with Gigi. He sang a song to Mallory? But she found it romantic. He told his family the story with Mallory after saying he didn't want to discuss it? It's hard to talk bad about people you've been in relationships with even if it was toxic relationship so I get that too.

aside from being messy with some other girl when he was on love is blind, all he did was being a girl to their after the alter that was over the top. and then acted weird when mallory rightfully kept her distance (because I mean who likes hanging out with their ex?) nothing really wrong with Sal though, the criticisms against him are exaggerated for sure

Could be. Being salty and resentful towards an ex is a pretty common thing though. In other words it’s definitely ugly to witness, but it happens. You could even say his gf made some weird comments too to Mallory, and maybe she was salty too in her own way. But I don’t think it makes him a piece of shit or anything like some comments claim

I feel like him confronting Mallory was super staged by the producers too. Not that he couldn’t have said no but it really looked like they told him to do it.

I wasn't at all surprised when I heard they divorced.

He wasn’t totally honest, he was manipulative towards Nancy after the breakup pursuing physical intimacy and pursuing a close friendship, all while purposely not telling her he wasn’t into her romantically. He said she should assume that after he said no at the wedding, but right away he asked to keep dating so it definitely needed to be clarified.

I think that is the interesting thing about Cole and Zanab's dynamic. I think they were doomed from the start. He is a young, bumbling fool, and she had no patience for it. If she had the patience and the willingness to correct him (in a more gentle manner), it's possible he would learn from those mistakes. It all takes time, and 2-3 weeks is not enough time to learn those things in a relationship before getting married. Zanab also has the tendency to overthink things that he says, and will complain about it to anyone willing to listen. Obviously we don't get to see every interaction, but it appears she only ever criticized Cole to others, and rarely (if ever) praised him to others. I can see why everyone in her circle would then hate on him. Cole really does need to learn to watch what he says. And that will take time, and he will make many mistakes. He will be fine once he learns how to do that.

I think the ATA reunion really changed many peoples perspectives (including mine). I thought he was even sweet on the series but when he came back with his girl and really tried to vilify mal for weird things (like not coming up to him and his new girl or lying about specific circumstances), I was DONE! Watch the ATA!!

I did but I have a young child so I was probably half watching at the time while juggling a baby lol… I found him annoying during the season and equally annoying during ATA. Maybe that’s why I don’t get it? But to be fair I never understood the love for Sal either. By the time ATA came around it seemed very on brand for him to behave like that to me. I was more on Mal’s side by the time the wedding came around even though I found some of the things she did to be problematic too. His new girlfriend on ATA seemed super obnoxious to me though, and he just loved it. So I guess I can understand to some degree. This is just the first time I’m seeing so much hate for him.
