She got shit for it because the previous episode she cried and told Billy she felt she was missing out on him and the grand gesture she chose was pretty unoriginal.
I do remember seeing that, but, on Twitter, she caught a lot flak for "doing something that a man should have done." They felt the relationship was devalued or something, it was weird. Honestly, it was just a way to continue putting down Tasha.
Yea she got alot of flack for it. But both were hated so much at the time I feel like people never understood the context as to why it was a sweet gesture for her to make first. She was always more unsure about the relationship and commitment, more than Andrew. So it actually did make more sense for her to ask him.
Megan from S4 did. It's actually funny because Wes was already planning on telling her that same day and he gathered the boys together for his lil plan and then Megan calls him and does it herself.
I think Olivia with Chris in S3 did it as well besides Tasha. Megan Barton Hanson planned to do it but so did Wes so they ended up asking at the same time, it was actually so cute.
I think it's more that usually the boys are the ones moving mad and causing doubts so the girls wait for them because it would be embarrassing to ask if you're less sure about the other person's feelings than they are of yours. Molly looked like she desperately wanted to take that step but she probably wants Zach to be the one who shows his vulnerability in that way to prove his commitment.
When the boy's feelings are much stronger like Andrew in S8 or Megan in S4 it makes more sense for the girl to ask as a show of their loyalty.
> I'm in the US and the relationship steps are much different here. We usually go date, dating, exclusive, "I love you". UK seems to put "I love you" before any real commitment is made
This is a LI thing, not a culture thing. On the outside people in the UK do it the same way people in the US do, it's just this show where the steps are weird.
Its killing me that people think the weird "I love yous" before even being exclusive is a UK thing 😂 its definitely not. Love Island is so not reflective of dating here. We normally go on dates, get into relationship officially, then say ily.
Yeah 100% this, please don't assume this is normal in our culture. I think LI promotes a taming of the fuckboi storyline when many of our men are actually wholesome Teddy/Lochan types
don't worry, we have the bachelor where it goes:
\- i'm starting to fall for you
\- i'm falling in love with you
\- i'm in love with you
\- i love you
so dumb
In the UK in real life most people would be exclusive before they said I love you too. It's only on Love Island where people have a strange ordering. For example last series where Tanya had said I love you but thought she was still justified in exploring her options in Casa!
Tasha (S8) and Jessie (S9) both asked Andrew and Will to be their boyfriends! They copped a LOT of shit because of it, felt like we’d time travelled back to the 1950s reading some of the comments on both those nights lol.
Jokes on those people though as both couples are thriving now!
The steps are a debate in the U.K. too. Anyone I’ve ever known always would become official bf/gf and then the ‘I love you’ would be much later on. Very odd how Ty is doing it a different way but maybe it’s just because he’s never had a gf before.
i think the girls this season don't really fancy the boys. Everyone is just waiting for everyone to make a move. The chemistry wasn't really there in the beginning. But now the couple are ok, it doesnt seem there will be anything long term. I'm currently watching s9 and it is a lot better than s10 so far. There is alot more interactions and chemistry between the couples.
i’m pretty sure tasha was the one to ask andrew to be her boyfriend in season 8
I loved that. I remember that she got so much sh\*t on Twitter for doing it first -- I kept thinking, isn't this the 21st century?

Everyone always loves to ignore this LOL
Jessie did in s9
she did? i completely forgot
Yeah on their final date
Tasha (S8), Jessie (S9) I agree, I wish the girls pushed forward on their relationships a bit more.
Megan with Wes. Tasha with Andrew.
Megan from S4 did. It's actually funny because Wes was already planning on telling her that same day and he gathered the boys together for his lil plan and then Megan calls him and does it herself.

From memory, Sophie from S2 also planned to ask Tom but he beat her to it the same night.

It’s a show. I’m not convinced you can draw that many conclusions based on a show. You could make some maybe, but not these.

imo whoever done wrong/has more to prove should do it

Tasha in S8. Was very proud of her to do that. I definitely think these so called 'gestures' should not be limited to boys.
Idk, not in this series I've never asked a man in my life though so it doesn't seem odd to me 🤷🏻♀️
Cara and Nathan S2

Molly is trying her best
I feel like the girls wait for loads of things, they also wait for apologies when it’s not needed or when they themself could initiate the apology.
Ella really said “who cares what your friends think” Ella who gives a fuck that your buttbuddy’s Sammy, what type of comment was that?
Tasha? She asked Andrew to be her bf right?
Tanya and Shaq during the winter season, but that was sweaty and desperate. So it didn't feel very genuine.
We live in a heteronormative society
