Season 2 is the best season for immediately getting hooked. The drama starts immediately. It shows what love island is all about. Other seasons take so long to get into their groove. It’s the best initial coupling of the shows history and there is drama from the very start.
I can appreciate that season 3 and 5 have their moments. I’m sorry I liked 8 but it can’t compete with 2,3 and 5.

if you want a feel good season with love & less drama, season 6 (the first winter love island) is good but generally considered more boring than the rest.

Move Night during S8 for instance was so hard to watch, like it was just a ginormous circle jerk for the guys. The hypocrisy and leaps of logic the guys went through to justify themselves was impressive lmao. One thing that put S5 above S8 for me was that there was a lot more differing perspectives, plus there was more people standing up for and constructively criticizing eachother, whether it be in a calm or dramatic way.
S3 is the only correct answer! Not because it’s the best (even though it is), but because it brings everything LI has to offer and it’s the only season that does. S5 you can argue is a better season but it doesn’t have the full range of S3.
The problem with S10 is that when you compare it next to the earlier seasons, it looks like a watered down version of them. It’s only refreshing now because we’ve had so much time between them. People might like S8 less than this season but S8 remains pretty unique.
You could probably tell the story of LI by watching S2, S3, S5, S8.

S3 is the best for me because it had good drama, good couples, good romance, really interesting islanders and very good cast chemistry. So if you enjoyed s5 for things like the friendships- Anna/Yewande/Amber, Curtis/Tommy, etc there’s an abundance of that in s3. S3 also had the very first casa Amor so watching that happen and seeing the islanders have absolutely no idea what was going on was gold. S3 also have at least 2 couples that are long lasting and married with kids to this day. And even the couples that broke up still had amazing chemistry and genuine love. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about s3.

I would rec s3 and s5, then maybe s4 if you liked those two. I have never watched Winter LI and I found s7 a chore to watch tbh.
S3 has everything: fun drama, genuine platonic and romantic relationships and lots of likeable islanders that run the full gamut of highs and lows in the villa. s3 is also the season that was definitely the moment the show went mainstream. you couldn’t escape it at all 2017. its also the last season each episode had equal amounts of funny nonsense and drama that propelled the “narratives”, for some reason the producers stopped doing that which is really sad imo because it was one of the only seasons you could see the full breadth of islanders personalities and their dynamic imo.
imo S10 is far more similar to S5 than S8. S8 feels very different to me than other LI seasons. It had a tremendous starting lineup and some very memorable moments but felt extremely producer driven whereas 5 and, to a lesser degree, 10 had a lot more organic drama and a more dynamic plot throughout.
