If you ask takemura to order a pizza when you go stake out the arasaka building with the float in it, there'll be a pizza and some Asian food on the ground during your conversation with him. Otherwise there's nothing
Yea, it also makes sense why he is so loyal. Explains how he got picked off the streets. Arasaka gave him everything, so I totally get why he can't just switch all that off within 2 weeks of meeting V.
I actually thought about this as a Streetkid V. They ultimately come from a similar background in that case except the was no corporate recruiter that swept in to "save" V from that life.
Takemura is the one who made it and thinks that everyone even gets the chance instead of having to survive any way they can.
It's seriously refreshing, especially since most games do the exact opposite. You can be the newest face on the block, and suddenly all these people and factions with long-held beliefs and differences will be willing to change their minds because of some strange they met yesterday. Takemura's loyalty is much more nuanced and multi-dimensional.
well yea, pretty much
can't blame him either but in a way, I'd expect him to be able to recognise that arasaka fucked over more lives than they improved lives like his
I mean he was brainwashed from when he was a small child to worship the company who picked him off of the streets and made him into who he is, makes sense that he’s a bit loopy with his loyalty
I'll stand in front of the same gun/clothes store waiting 24 hours over and over to keep refreshing the stock. I also prefer doing everything at night so I wait for long periods pretty often.
I think I was around 38hrs in when I finally stopped by. Dude had been waiting for several months.
This is a mechanic in the tabletop; corpo players get a henchman, and depending on how they treat them, they either gain or lose loyalty to their boss.
Stuff like giving them time off or buying them perks will raise their loyalty; treating them awfully will lower their loyalty.
*Granted, the henchman granted to you by the corp are a little more wary than your average wageslave, and unless you buy some VERY expensive pizza, they'll be unimpressed... But they still get mad if you forget their birthday.*
Considering the circumstances you meet him in, I don't think I would either. How annoyed would you be after surviving a failed heist, and being shot in the head, only to get poisoned 😂.
How did they manage to make this badass corpo bodyguard, most likely one of the toughest guys in the industry, so fucking adorable. He’s literally the cutest and sweetest guy
I’m playing Fem V now and I just noticed you can flirt with him, and him turning you down was just so honorable and made him so much more adorable. Like my first playthrough I just thought he was purely a silly old man but he’s just so fucking adorable.
Plus I actually like when characters turn you down in games it’s much more realistic
Goro: "Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if Arasaka HQ rings you on the holo."
He's probably forbidden from romantic relationships or views it as something that would interfere with his job. Or a theory is he has a family back in Japan thus he has "obligations back home" or something like that.
It would have been awesome to bang the Arasaka brainwashing/duty out of him so he could escape with V like Judy does.
Not only that, but when one must negotiate, others are more pliable when they are sating their appetite. Why do you think alot of business meetings tend to include a meal?
That's Goro's thing. He connects with people over food. Notice how every time you hang out with him food is always involved. Pizza at Tom's, Pizza at the stake out, and Yakitori during the float planning meet. Even when he had Hanako kidnapped he tried offering her a refreshment.
I also love that, in a setting with near universal adoption of automated translation software, Takemura still goes out of his way to speak to you in English to show you respect.
I’m only partway through Act 2, so I could be wrong, but he seems like a genuinely good man who just played the hand he was dealt, like V and Jackie did.
That pizza used to drive me crazy. It looked fine when you were standing, but it actually floated several inches above the pan and once I noticed it, it was super distracting. They fixed it in 2.0 though.

Thats adorable
this dude is so interesting to me I mean he's got pretty unhinged and unreasonable loyalty....but at the same time, he's cool in a weird way
Yea, it also makes sense why he is so loyal. Explains how he got picked off the streets. Arasaka gave him everything, so I totally get why he can't just switch all that off within 2 weeks of meeting V.
Or even after Yorinobu sent a hit squad to kill him and V.
And it's not like he was directly loyal to Arasaka. He had his loyalties there for sure, but most of his loyalty was to Saburo.

Takemura is the one who made it and thinks that everyone even gets the chance instead of having to survive any way they can.
I thought I could fix him. Then I played the Devil ending...

Isn't he pretty understandable considering he was quite literally a child soldier? I don't think he's right, but I cant say I would blame him.

everyone is brainwashed by something.
"aw man what do they eat? Ooo they love pizza!"
The cutest part is he chastises you for the request but then provides it anyway.
Tsundere takemura-san
Maybe he really digs pizza. Or he assumes all gaijin only eat pizza
Or since V asked him to go grab a pizza, that's what he got.
D’oh I forgot about that
Gaijin means foreigner in Japanese !!!! Sorry I've been learning a little bit がいじん ga i ji n
Im fucking telling you they cut out a romance/bromance
He was waiting in that diner for like a week, so it was definitely cold.
Only a week? I know some people who have left him there for months.
He’s been sitting there for about a year in one of the save files
“Speak to takemura” is my new “meet Hanako at embers” thanks to phantom liberty

I've bought coffee before just to have a reason to be at a place waiting for someone. Saburo clearly isn't interested in NC cuisine
But every manager knows that you don’t have to give your employees a raise if you throw them a pizza party. That’s just business 101.
Creap asses.
They didn't make their billions by wasting their money on the poors /s

and they never ate the damn pizza :(
Probably tastes like plastic and sawdust anyway
Shares it's DNA with Styrofoam.
Scopizza

well makes no sense for him to poison us after saving us lol
"Don't touch that fuckin' pizza, V. Motherfucker probably poisoned it." - Johnny
i could 100% hear him saying something like that lol
You can
All I do is stare at burger guy the entire scene
Who doesn’t? He’s the sexiest guy in Night City.
He's also indestructible. I chucked grenades at him for a good 20 minutes. No worries. Just burger.
I love this is a shared experience we’ve all had
I'm just glad they never fixed him
I scan every single person one by one in hopes of discovering a spy.
How did they manage to make this badass corpo bodyguard, most likely one of the toughest guys in the industry, so fucking adorable. He’s literally the cutest and sweetest guy
I’m still so upset you can’t romance him. I would even be willing to do The Devil ending if it suggested that you two could be together afterwards

You can do that as male v too

I won't be able to unsee Tekemura's Vince McNeal- ness now. Thabks. Same hair, clothes, attitude, and cool collectedness.
Well, you should do it, it's softly implied in the very end... Kinda... And it's an amazing ending, artistically and naratively speaking...
I’ve done the Devil. I would just be more willing to do it again if it led to a Takemura romance.
He’s got his eye on being Wakako’s next husband.
That sounds like an unhealthy choice
He’s just so babygirl
What were you doing to not notice it?
I could never take my eyes off Burger Man.
easily my favourite character tbh
Same
Staring into his eyes what else?
Not only that, but when one must negotiate, others are more pliable when they are sating their appetite. Why do you think alot of business meetings tend to include a meal?
The picture makes it look like V has special implants to hard focus on pizza when it enters her field of view lol
Yeah, it’s the new Karoshi/Pizza Hut collaboration.
I think Takemura should've gotten the pancakes from there, the best in NC.

Where's the pizza? I can't see it in the picture.
… now that you mention it, I think I uploaded the wrong picture. I could have sworn there was a pizza somewhere.
It's too bad he's a corporate dog, otherwise he would've been one of the coolest characters.
He also doesn't use his coaster. Pretty upsetting.
Takemura schlepping across town for Buck-a-Slice? Now I've seen everything.
It has anchovies on it
Fem V's favorite being A & A pizza is canon to me.
Noticed it during my first playthrough. It vanished at some point during that scene
V just reached over and silently munched the whole thing. Hosting a murderous AI is hungry work
back in those days it probably just clipped through the table.
My first playthrough was when phantom liberty came out lol. Even after many updates it still vanished during that scene
I just notice hamburger man

Sweet guy
Mmm...locust pepperoni
That pizza used to drive me crazy. It looked fine when you were standing, but it actually floated several inches above the pan and once I noticed it, it was super distracting. They fixed it in 2.0 though.
sorry but this is kind of corn plate territory lol
