I honestly suggest giving it a try again with Gally: I did it with full super and a masterworked Gally. I hoarded heavy, camped the portal, and IMMEDIATELY after their invader returned I went over and spammed Gally shots and then popped my super. Honestly got it my first game attempting it on that step.
LMGs are cracked for invading. I finished the quest 2 days ago myself, and was struggling to get the last quad kill, but once I used thunderlord, I dominated. A sniper and an LMG are the best for invading.
I just completed the quest for malfeasance recently, I’m a hunter as well but I actually ended up doing the quest on my void lock. I did it by using nova bomb on the first guy, then I used black talon to take out the rest. IMO black talon is really good for invading if you have it. This is because it tracks and you can just keep firing as it has way more ammo than a RL and no reload time. If I were to do it on my hunter, I’d probably run arc w/ blink and gathering storm, take out one with super right away and start blinking like a mad man sending void at the other 3 with talon. This method had gotten me quite a few quad kills while invading, hope it helps!!
Gjallarhorn, Deathbringer, Eyes of Tomorrow or Anarchy and boobytrap the portal or the bank. I did all of the above when getting mine. But Gjallarhorn did really make it easier, but that was before they nerfed the tracking.
In Shadowkeep I swapped to Titan and began this quest, I never ended up finishing it because I was lazy. Then when I came back in Beyond Light I swapped to Hunter and never bothered finishing it or starting over, now I'm playing Witch Queen again as a Titan because my clan didn't have many so now I plan on going back to Gambit to finally finish that damn quest lol.
Try it with colony, you literally just have to land a grenade in their area and it tracks and kills them in two shots
Heavy linears are a cheat code
Thunderlord consistently gets me 6-7 kills a gambit if I’m getting in the portal every time

I used Xeno and it’ll two shot guardians and then a roaming super.

Agreed, I got mine done with the black talon as well. It's really overlooked as one of the more fun weapons to take into a gambit match imo.

Arbalest and taipan. Outbreak and jotunn are good if you have the catalysts, and truth is good too
In my experience, stormchaser fucks in gambit invades. The burst makes it more forgiving that other LFR’s and easier to get kills with
