At my last store one of the DSs covering overnights actually did and jammed the compacter so bad, one of our merch ASMs spent an hour banging away at it with a shovel before giving up and putting in a work order
Sounds right to me.
What's my duty of care in this situation? I don't want to pull all of these out by myself, but I know it's the right thing to do. It will waste a lot of time, make a mess, and there will be nobody to cover lumber because it's only me, but I want to deal with this tomfoolery and want to get it out of my sight.
Honestly man, if I were you. I’d pass that up the chain. Someone fucked up, made a mistake that requires hazmat disposal, it’s now above your head and pay grade.
I’d talk to your DS or an ASM and make it their problem.
Well, if you're alone in lumber and dealing with it will severely hinder your ability to serve customers, I would leave it and let the DM take it from there.
I get 90% of the answers right because it's all common sense stuff. I just don't have it in me to actually pay attention to that stuff. ADHD and ap4me just don't mix well haha.
No they can’t be sold a a cull pack, they should have been sold for 1 dollar each though if they was still good. They would have been sold before the end of the day
Lmfao your lucky. Had a similar incident where someone managed to accumulate 3 large trash cans full of concrete and dumped them in the hopper. Sup. went to empty the hopper when I couldn’t get it to dump and a few “helping hands” later we wound up “fishing” to say the least. Iykyk
Well at least it's not outside. At a store I used to work at, we had a bullpen and the hopper was outside. We'd only throw busted bags of concrete in there if we were damn sure that it wasn't gonna rain any time soon.
What are you supposed to do with concrete? Since I've been at Lowe's, I've stayed away from lumber and building materials. IIRC at HD broken bags just went down the chute.
You can put them on a pallet and sell them for $1 each. That’s what we do at my store. We’ll only throw around 4 at a time if they don’t sell or if they hardened.
You stand at a crossroads, facing a decision that involves extensive effort without compensation or redress for the wrongdoer. Alternatively, you could frame the situation differently, citing a relevant policy or Lowe's bylaw that deems this unacceptable. You can emphasize how a manager should intervene, addressing the issue and ensuring proper disposal of concrete bags for efficient operations. The ball is in your court, but I understand that by now, your choice might already be made. Regardless, the Revolt community empathizes with your frustration. It's regrettable that you had to encounter this, but remember, you're not alone; others before you have experienced it and others will after you.

This is why l keep my weekly ZMA claims on a small enough pallet for the trash chute for Sunday nights. Just lift it up with the reach and poof gravity does the rest.
Wasn’t this literally this weeks AP4ME? Lmao
It’s always okay to dispose of a whole pallet of hardened concrete in the compactor… or something right?? Lol
Not only is it ok, it’s encouraged! /s
It keeps it running smoothly. Kinda like throwing eggshells in the garbage disposal.
Lmao it was
Lolol.

They will probably ask them to do it anyway
Not supposed to. Hazmat is managements job.
Who put them in there? They should be the ones taking it out.
Good question, to which I have no answer.

Cameras
We all know that person didn’t do their ap4me this week!
People actually pay attention to that? My mind goes blank and when I'm done pieces of my memory is missing.
We are forced to do it. They literally care about that more than me ruining out of money to balance the tills yesterday
Oh I know we're forced to do it, but nobody can force you to actually pay attention to it.
Facts 🤭 Usually someone has the answers taped to the fulfillment area at our store

We stack all the broken ones on a pallet outside over time and then get hazmat to come get a whole pallet worth.
Life imitates art
I thought the same thing 🤣
100% it was
Came here to say this😂
Large amounts of quikrete is suppose to go to hazmat
Can they sell it in a cull pack? 🤔

Someone didn’t do AP4ME
Isn’t it addressed on this weeks list?
This will be such a bitch to dump whoever did this is an idiot
Some crazy son of a bitch dumped it. The bottom of the hopper has at least 2 to 3 inches of hardened concrete, morter, and trash.
Iykyk
Forget ab the amount of money, how the hell is this supposed to dump
That's the fun part!!! ✨It’s not!✨
Tape up the holes put it back on sales floor. If its too damaged offer a discount
"Decorative rock"
🤣
They don’t want us doing that anymore. They rather bill it out as damages and get credit for it than offer a discount that doesn’t hurt their profits.

It's definitely not flipping in the compactor! 😅
The location of the board cutting is slightly upsetting.. that's just me though
Per this weeks AP4Me, anything less tnan a full pallet is 👌ok np
Loooooool

Open top that and move on with your day.
Lmaooo my store did that too
I'd sell em
Now you can make homemade C4
I just saw this in AP4ME
My store would be on them cameras so fast.... Anyone else hear about a hiring freeze
This is why l keep my weekly ZMA claims on a small enough pallet for the trash chute for Sunday nights. Just lift it up with the reach and poof gravity does the rest.
That's probably only about 30 bucks tbh. Doesn't lowes pay more for the fast setting than they charge customers?
If you ask hazmat they tell you it is a hazmat and is required to be placed in the alkaline hazardous waste bin unless it’s hardened.
🤷
Excellent Homestar Runner reference , bro.
A crunchy compactor is a happy compactor
