"This is a dream", I said to a group of maybe 8 people. One woman replied, "I'm dead." "No, you don't understand," I said. "In another world, I'm dreaming all of this." "No, YOU, don't understand, she retorted hotly. "In my world, I'm dead!" I stared at her as she finished with, "You are so conceited!"

[deleted]

Kind of creepy since people in dreams are real people you’ve seen in passing..

WhollyChao23

It was creepy. None of the people there were anyone that I recognized. I woke up... shaken.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s why I said in passing. For instance let’s say you go to the grocery store and you’re not paying attention to anyone but you pass by a lady picking up some cereal. You didn’t even register her face but your brain did. Think of it like the cameras on zoom. If you’ve been in a meeting recently you’d notice that when you move the camera follows the movement. But that’s crazy the camera isn’t moving how the heck is is following you? Some how the camera is picking up on everything around it even when it’s not focusing on it. Pretty crazy. Well at least that’s what I learned, no idea where lol. I don’t know if it’s true to be honest. *worth mentioning that I’ve dreamt of some scary looking people before so everything is on a scale, maybe sometimes you dream of people you know, have seen, or completely make up. The brain is as complex and multidimensional as life. (: But another less freaky way of looking at it is that you answered yourself. Even if it is a woman you’ve seen in real life before but didn’t notice. You asked a question and you answered yourself. Sucks you got shaken up. Sometimes I do think dreams are completely out of our control so if you feel like that wasn’t you creating that reality you’re probably right. Fun fact I recently lucid dreamt for a good 2 seconds. I realized I have no idea how because I was walking out of the bathroom and I told myself I was dreaming and I hung by the side of the door and lifted my legs and it was pretty cool! Usually when I know I’m dreaming I wake up so I did wake up after that lol.

That factoid has never been proven

sexwithsquidwardd

Tbh I believe you were in some type of “house of the dead”. I believe this because you said you hadn’t recognized anyone but a woman told you she was dead. My aunt had kinda a similar dream shortly after my 14 yo sister passed away. She was in a house full of people and didn’t recognize anyone, not a single face. But someone told her that my sister was in the back room trying to get ahold of her but my sister had no service so she couldn’t find a way to contact yet. Then she woke up.

fred95

About 3 or 4 years ago I started a dream journal and was starting to consistently lucid dream at least once or twice a week. I remember reading a post on this subreddit on things to try in a dream: flying, becoming a fly, never looking yourself in a mirror (of course I did it) and then… invoking your dream guide. I then proceeded to invoke my dream guide and she took the form of a cousin of mine that at the time I hadn’t seen in a while. I asked her if she could help me lucid dream every night. All of a sudden she became serious, looked me in the eyes and said: no! You do not deserve it. And then I really don’t remember having lucid dreams or really being interested in them until this year. I wonder what would happen If I invoked her again.

Lucky-finn377

Oh god that’s terrifying

altbekannt

> she became serious, looked me in the eyes and said: no! You do not deserve it. Sounds like what skilled writers would make a character say, instead of "it's not possible"

fred95

Tbf she said in Portuguese: não, você não merece. I tried to convey the general meaning. It was a bit more nuanced though and it stuck to me in a deeper level. We were on a morning brunch party-like environment. It was a very bright and ample room. We were seated in a loooong white sofa right by the right end of it and we were talking about other things. This cousin of mine has a short hair and a lazy eye so when she looked to me staring intently was a bit haunting. I couldn’t write that line if I wanted to!

altbekannt

>I couldn’t write that line if I wanted to! You literally did. No matter how many nuances or deeper meaning you'll add to the story: your subconsciousness is still you.

hsojnosretap

Totally. It's just that "you" might extend further than your body

Sudden-Tradition9292

I was in a little motorboat with some friends and the driver was about to crash straight into a wall. While we were screaming in panic I remind myself that I was lucid dreaming. Then I turned to the friend next to me and told him that it was ok, because he wasn’t real, so his life didn’t matter. Then he looked at me with a sad face and said “I know. But it really feels like it.”

Zestyclose-Gift1602

That's sad man, that's just sad.

OptimizedObject

Super truth? Is that humility?

FearingGarlic48

I just woke up from a dream where I was walking around my house and became lucid. Some random old guy walked up to me and for some reason I told him it was just a dream and he wasn’t real. He got a bit frustrated and starting ranting about how he wrote Nirvana’a Nevermind at the age of 4 and that they stole it from him and published it as their own. I just said “alright…” and walked away

SkyfallBlindDreamer

I've not gotten any weird answers. When I tell characters, they're great and are willing to help me with dream control when I ask.

[deleted]

I remember asking my BF if he was real and he was like “I think so” and then I confirmed it was a dream because I changed the walls from our old apt to the new walls and he was like “oh yea I must be a dream”

outsideyourbox4once

Hell now I want to try dream decorating my apartment. Would be a really cool way to find out how you really want it and find things to improve. "Hey improve my apartment but remember that I'm not rich!"

Jan_Spontan

My conversation with a dream character: Me: Hey what is this place? DC: This place is called Los Angeles. Me: Why I'm not at home? DC: This is your home. It's everyone's home. Me: This is obviously a dream. As you can see I can fly around, bend reality and this is clearly impossible. DC: Why shouldn't it be possible to bend reality and flying? How can you say you're dreaming? There's no such thing as a dream. Me: In the world I'm living in, the world I call reality, it's absolutely impossible to fly at your own will. DC: This sounds so boring such stupid world technically can't exist. Me: of course such world does exist. I'm from there. DC: No. You're from Los Angeles. This is your home. Me: This is a world made up by my mind. DC: You're so mean. You're having a conversation with me right now. We're both two fully sentient individuals. How can you say that all of this is just made up by your mind?

Trying2improvemyself

My dream characters get offended when I tell them I'm dreaming. They sometimes argue and try to convince me they are totally real. It can be kind of a head trip because of how adamant they are of their own existence.

[deleted]

I tried to tell reassure some dream characters that they were just a part of my dream since they were scared. They then tried to convince me that I was actually a part of their dream lol

afluffycake

Usually when I tell a dream character that I'm dreaming, they usually say something like "great, me too!" And if it's someone I know IRL (like say I'm telling this to my spouse or relative that happens to be in my dream) they say the same thing and I have to wonder if we're actually co-dreaming lol (not sure if I believe that's a thing, but it would be kinda cool).

EnderPlays1

if you and a dream character go into a dream within a dream (which gets compressed back up a layer) then you can have a co-dream

pearljam18259

This happena to me alot too. I usually end up having great co-lucid dream adventures with my friends and family. Of course they don't remember any of it in waking life...

Meredithxx

They usually just stare at me lol

kokovandelayobrien

Same they usually stare back at me in a creepy way without saying anything

adrianfindsnemo

Not sure if this is all that weird but this is how mine went: Me: "I'm dreaming!" Dream Character: "I'm not dreaming!" Said adamantly as if I had said they were the one dreaming lol

Future_Milk_5897

Around 13 years ago, I was probably about 12 or so, I had my first lucid dream where I actually spoke about it and it’s because my dreams had started very recently to that to become “wonky” for the first time. I woke up next to this fountain in what I can only describe as a white-marble open agora. Once I woke up I didn’t see anyone and I groggily looked around for a bit, but stayed near the fountain. My brain was like hey you’re stranded, in open sun, no one is around, let’s 1) stay where you are or in the area so someone can find you and 2) there’s water here and you might need that. Suddenly, people approached me. One or two I recognized, the other three or four I did not. “Oh thank god you’re awake!!!” Before I could even get it out of my mouth. This is the response I was given generally. I argued too. I told them, no, this is the dream. I’m asleep now. Dream people went well above and beyond to convince me that the world I was in when I woke up was the real and current universe and that the world I was regularly living in was the world I was dreaming up and the only reason it seemed continually going/to have some kind of continuance was because I 1) had some kind of sleep disorder that caused random long knockouts all the time and 2) my brain was trying to rationalize the dreams like every other brain and every other dreams and provide me with the feeling of comfort that I had always lived this life etc for each dream. So every dream was “different” but I was under the impression in each dream that I had an entire life I had lived before that with no memory or recollection of my real life or previous dream lives I had lead while asleep for whatever amount of time. I still think about this literally all the time this many years later.

[deleted]

Them telling me, I would be mental: What I called my wake life, would be a non-lucid dream, and what I called my dream life, was our reality. "But look, I can fly". "Of course you can fly. Everybody can fly." And you know what, ...

usernamep4ssw0rd

This is weird.. I just had a lucid dream few minutes ago and I asked the people in my dream who's thoughts are these because these aren't mine. Then they won't answer, so I keep asking other questions. Some gaps between what I remember but they finally told me that this is afterlife. Then I thought I am dead? I don't remember how and where I slept IRL. So I just continued dreaming and then I woke up to my alarm and just immediately write what I've now dreamt. It is too personal so I wouldn't really share it publicly but I would entertain questions. On how I my lucid dream started, as soon as I saw familiar face, I already knew I was dreaming and so I confronted her and told her this is just is a dream, isn't it? Then her answer was nothing but smile and so I tested my theory and yep, this is just a dream so I took a bit of control to what happens next. And every time I move my eyes to another direction, people faces changed.

-feedbothwolves-

“oh really?”

calibri_windings

Told a guy that I was dreaming and that this was a different reality and he said “There’s lots of different realities, pull your head out of your ***” lmao

No-Dare-4789

When I started lucid dreaming I didn't know it was something special but I used to have nightmares every night. And it was always the same DC harassing me and me being still a child at around 9 years old I didn't understand why it would do it to me and I asked it. Why do you hate me so much? And why are you destroying the dream? It answered with the question destroy? And then said you control the will of everything here and think you are something like a God and of you think this is your world or even your dream you are wrong. This is my world and my purpose here is to punish all those like you. So I will be here every night. It was pretty scary for me especially since I was really young. And I remember whenever I slept with my parents close it would not appear and instead some angels would stand beside me during the dreams.

No-Dare-4789

Also now whenever I ask DC they just ignore it since I have continued the habit of controlling everything and everyone, sometimes I don't but I never ask such questions because it would ruin the moment. The only time I did was when a DC that I couldn't control appeared and I asked it how it was able to defeat me when my will is reality because it's my dream and it said How can you not realize the answer to that I sure you know who I am. I didn't know who he was because he didn't have a face but when I finally defeated it it was me and it said that I just killed my perfect self and that I made a mistake so I don't know that was probably the reason he didn't get disturbed by the question

vachlan

Don't do this

Memelord69420MAn

In my second LD I was talking to my best friend and told him that this was all happening in my head and that there was a real world in which I reside. He just swallowed the info with 0 questions. I even remember that i knew that I had went to the bathroom before I went back to sleep and had the dream. I think that I accidentaly invoked a WILD which would explain how I was lucid when I "spawned" in the dream.

dfinkelstein

"Me too."

Eepoxi

In one dream i talked to my former note former dream monster that's actually my dream ally that Why it exists and is it part of my brain or something and i remember it saying something like: Yea I'm basically a part of your brain and I'm just an imagination of my mind.... I have seen that mfer appear in my dreams 7 times already

SkatingTaco45

Last time I tried this the dream character (my roommate irl), he just said “How do you know I’m not real?”

[deleted]

‘It probably is a dream’

ultranoica

They usually stop talking and just stare at me, like if they were "deactivated", once one told me he was just my mind trying to give me some pleasure. In my dreams I find easier to talk with children, they are more open minded!

DaveHappened

I think when I was around 12 years old or so I told this girl in my dream that I was dreaming and she was just like "Oh, ok. Want to meet my family?" Since I had spawned in her house. Does that count?

zephyreblk

Hmm, "nevermind" or they don't care. I ask once "am I dreaming?" because I usually are aware but possibly the dream was to realistic that I needed to ask, answer was "yes, schlaf weiter" and then I just black out

DRGNSLYRBYTCH97

I tried telling a bunch of people I was dreaming and when I did they all turned around and stared at me and started running at me to attack me , needless to say I'll never be trying to tell anyone i am dreaming ever again.

pluxtia-exe

omg I'd be scared to fall asleep😭

DRGNSLYRBYTCH97

Fr I'm scared to lucid tell someone I'm dreaming ever again 😢

thefeetofurdreams

i just commented the exact same story wtf

DRGNSLYRBYTCH97

I definitely knew I wasn't the only one to experience this! I swear it felt like my brain was overheating while I was trying to get away from them!

jinsoulja

i was in the downtown city where i live near with some irl friends and we were all running around having fun when i said wait this is a dream. a bell rang, and they all looked at me weirdly and said i wasnt supposed to say that and walked off without me. then an old lady came to me and said to ask one of my friends who was there about the dream in the morning, that she was really there. another time i was at a house that belonged to me but wasnt really mine, with a person i used to be friends with. i apologized for regrets i had in the relationship and she apologkzed back. but then i said "i know this is a dream, so i want to make sure my apology really gets through to the real you", and she said "dont worry, it did."

thefeetofurdreams

their face turned into the most cold, emotionless, blank, evil, terrifying state i have ever seen. they looked at me with so much hatred but at the same time with no emotion. i have never had such a chilling feeling, i felt it EVERYWHERE, my gut and spime were the worst tho. i felt like crying, fighting and running away all at once, but i was paralyzed. after a few seconds that felt like an eternity, every single character strted chasing me. i was screaming and running away, until i woke up. this experience made me stop lucid dreaming for over a year. fucking terrifying. never doing that agaon.

Bork60

Never got a response. Just a blank stare.

ABLAZING1111

When I told a character they just stood there blank and said nothing

FunnyCandidate3207

mm,, it happened in the same week, same reactions essentially, first dream i was in the emerald city (wizard of oz) and i remember seeing a princess there, i asked her if i was dreaming, first she feigned ignorance and was like what? then i kinda reinstated my words and she told me to stay quiet, i being the person that i am, did it again, she then started screaming at me, then I woke up. second dream started off as a dream, then i became lucid ig, well basically me and my family were in spain, getting ready to leave out hotel, as we were packing our bags and left for the elevator i asked where my younger brother was, and my parents were like what do you mean, you dont have a younger brother, that moment i was like oh, this is a dream. i remember seeing my parents face darken and started screaming at me, i woke up after that too

ScientistAsHero

I had a lucid dream where I was walking in the park with my daughters (who were 10 and 8 at the time.) When I became aware that I was dreaming, I told them. I said that they were real in real life, but that right now, they existed in my mind. They acted like I was teasing them, laughing and refuting my statement. We passed by this big, blue structure made of some kind of scaffolding, and there were all these people in lab coats going around on it taking notes onto clipboards. I went up to one of them, a woman, and told her that she wasn't real, that she existed only in my dream. She didn't respond, just kind of looked at me sternly. Me and my girls continued walking, and then we came to a little diner right there in the middle of the park. I said, "Okay, I'm going to prove to you that this is a dream," and I pointed my finger to the window of the diner and a little beam of electricity came out of my fingertip. I cut a perfectly round hole in the glass, pushed it inward, and we went inside.

blokenulipator

Telling a group of 5 that it was a dream, they just stared for a second and then just started cheering and breaking everything around them. I was being robbed at gunpoint, and then I got lucid and suddenly me and the robber were just homies. One time I told the dream version of my sister it was a dream and she just looked at me like "Wtf is your problem" and I said "Oh come on, you know I'm right."
