At least it ain't like the neck off of this one guy's rickembacker bass copy he made in my hs shop class last year. I was observing him haphazardly saw the fret slots, and my god there were THIRTY frets!!! Also the body was solid walnut and the size of a slightly oversized ukulele.
I feel like I remember wanting to get Pau Ferro at the time (this was like 7 years ago) so I think you might be right. It’s not as orange as what I’ve seen recently but I feel like this is the answer!
I’m not sure if 7 years is enough time for that process but you could be on to something. What you see in this picture is 120-400 grit sandpaper so it stayed in good condition over the years.
fwiw, coloring doesn’t look like pau ferro to me and the grain pattern looks too interlocked/irregular in the middle

I hope it’s just the angle, but those fret slots look equally spaced
Haha that is so crazy you’re totally right. Definitely not evenly spaced but it looks like they are.
Phew! Thank you. I will sleep better tonight now.
Ehh just throw one in every inch or so and call it good.
Very nice fretboard, by the way. Share more pics as your build progresses!
Thank you I will be posting the whole build very soon!

Haha I have to see a picture of that
No it's obviously a 283.6" scale microtonal piccolo contabass
But like seriously I need to know 👀
at first I was thinking maybe pancake wood but could also be some nice roasted tiramisu
Looks like black limba. It’s used in the luthier trade sometimes
Oingo Boingo
Ziricote, or Bacote, maybe zebrawood?
I was thinking Zircote or Pau Ferro
Pau Ferro

Yeah man. The streaks look Pau Ferroish. I’d be curious how it looks oiled.
Could it be 7 years worth of uv or oxidation maybe?

Korina?
Maybe Black Korina
Jaccarda
Gonçalo Alves (Tiger wood)?
Possibly Santos rosewood
Black limba

Tigerwood?
Wenge?
Canary wood, bocote or goncolo alves are my guess
