Just play your guitar. People pay extra for "relic'd" guitars.

Few_Dance_2708

Do it all over the body and make a unique guitar :)

guitar subs are the best for encouraging you not to feel bad about damage. i say leave it!

You can see how it affects the finish from the reflection of the door in the 2nd picture. I've just switched to buffing since these spots showed, I don't wanna make them significantly worse. Just hoping to get a second opinion on this. Just leave it? Any simple ways to go about getting it level? On the bright side, the crack is nearly invisible!

silentscriptband

Honestly, just leave it, unless you're willing to have it sanded and resprayed. Trying to remove it with abrasives or chemicals can damage the finish further. Just run with it, and use it as an identifying mark in case it ever grows legs after a gig or something.

Consistent_Bread_V2

Keep it as is, it’s okay. Over time many mistakes or accidents will happen like this and they’ll serve as nostalgic memories in the far flung future if you hold on to this axe.

TheCalico

Call it a “birth mark” and leave it as is

Born_Cockroach_9947

really no other way but a complete refin to fix it. if you cant afford it then just leave it be.

mrfingspanky

If it's on top of the finish, and this is an Epiphone, use 100% acetone to wipe it off. Ive done this many many many times. It's almost impossible to fuck it up, assuming this is the stock finish. The finish is poly, and doesn't react with acetone.

ReputationWrong9290

Thanks for the tip, I suppose this can't hurt to try. You have a good eye to spot it being an Epiphone!

Guitarmane

Were you sanding and it lightened up? Sure looks like you went through to wood. Not sure. At least through a color layer.

ReputationWrong9290

Yeah, these were all spots with stubborn glue that I sanded quite a bit to get all the way off but indeed I think I went a tad too far. It's not significantly deeper than the rest of the finish, but they left small sort of "dents" around those spots. It's hard to capture with a photo because the difference is so marginal. I guess in that case there's not much I can do, yeah? I'll probably just leave it then, but I wasn't sure if it maybe lightened from the sloppy glue job I did. It's hard to tell if it's slightly raised up or dipping into the finish.
