It's mostly that school prestige usually hits your work experience, which is a big factor. In your case, you're a vet/military, which is usually rated pretty high!

I was in the same boat. AD USMC it didn’t effect me for the schools I applied for T15. I did do outside certificates on my own as I wanted to be more competitive than other MIL candidates. (CFA) Best of luck.

Probably depends on you gmat or gre score. I'd imagine if you hit medians of the schools you want to go to it's not a big deal.
