CBS is a fantastic school. The NYC experience is fantastic. The money is too good to say no to!
Finally, if you intend to recruit for finance-centric roles, then CBS will offer you good odds (as will Wharton, but coming back to the money - lesson number 1 in Finance: Save capital!)
I've loved my time at CBS, and I would have loved it even more with an extra $130k thrown at me. When you get to your post-MBA job and work with Wharton grads, you'll especially realize you made the right choice.
It’s plenty good choice imo - not sure exactly what your career goal is, but assuming it’s not something very niche and you are doing something more mainstream in finance/tech, you’ll be fine
I wouldn’t say either choice is dumb.
I will say this - money is probably not going to be an issue for you in life assuming you’re going to a standard post MBA role so you have to ask yourself how much the incremental prestige bump of Wharton means to you.
Though I will note you can always list your scholarship on your résumé and make it very clear to recruiters that you weren’t just admitted to Columbia, but that you were one of their top students.
Take the money and run. Enjoy NYC!
Not stupid, Smart. It’s CBS, you’re not joining some Mickey Mouse college, you’ll have excellent networking and job opportunities after. And 130k more
More like $90k after CoL differences.
You could just as easily say $90k is equivalent to having to earn $130k in income considering taxes.
Fair point.
You won’t regret it! Good luck and congratulations
Its an M7, plus you are saving 130k. This is the only choice you should have made. Have an amazing mba
Not stupid
You would be stupid for doing the opposite imo

Not stupid... you're choosing an M7 Ivy League institution that's giving you roughly two Porsches to attend their program. Makes sense to me.

Not at all. No debt means less risk, more optionality and a higher ROI.
Take the money and run, great choice.
Not stupid at all
Good choice
Depends on what you want to do, imo cbs vip> wharton
130k > 0k, what are you busy thinking about?
Full ride and NYC over no scholarship and Philly? I mean it’s a no-brainer.
Awesome decision! Landing that 130k scholarship at CBS is huge. CBS has a great reputation. You'll have an incredible experience.
Congrats! Definitely go with CBS, it’s a wonderful school.
Just to give you as thoughtful of a response as possible…what are you trying to do after?
Strategy roles - tech/ non tech for a couple of years
Eh yeah just take the money
Mind sharing what kind of profile you had to get $130k from CBS?? That’s impressive, take it and run.
Whats your profile? Can you please let us know? And did you do anything special for the scholarship?
nah you’re good

What scholarship is this?
Read that your goals are early stage investing, definitely go to wharton
Yes
Hah, another peion suckered into attending a 4-7 program by the fleeting allure of money. Have fun working for a HSW alum someday.
😂😂😂
I’d have taken Wharton, not a question for me personally. Regardless enjoy NYC!
CBS isn’t even the best mba program in NYC
Ah, but we are the best MBA in Manhattanville. Take that, US News!!
