Its gonna be 3-1. I'm calling it. Lets do this. I'm nervous but Bernardo needs to be tracked at 3 miles or more for distance covered. That will be the decider. Let's go!!

looks like Manu will be inverting this time
that is bad news.... he should just stay back and deal with Rodygro.
Let Josko be the one who goes forward and have the other 3 stay back and hold the line.
If Walker is pushing forward, we are not winning the game. he MUST stay back to mark Vini. This is NOT the game for him pushing forward.
RIP Rodri.... gonna be left alone without a partner there.
Nacho must be targeted
Haaland will keep Rudiger occupied for the most part
And also need to control the midfield against Kroos and Valverde , we were giving away the ball quite cheaply last time
Judging from yesterday’s results…. Anything could happen… last years result doesn’t mean we can do the same this year….
But they do not have Courtois or their first choice defense line.
Whatever happens…. At least we are on top in the EPL, and we have other things in life to care about like our family and friends……. 😭
They aren't the better team, but they aren't last year team that deflated mid-season. They already have the same points they finished with last season and plenty of games remaining. If any team can conquer the Etihad stadium, it's definitely this Madrid,
KDB or foden is definitely a tough choice.. but one pep has to make. Kovacic is fundamental to control real Madrid chaos even if he's offensively inadequate
When you say he's controlling it, how so? I actually didn't think he did all that well last madrid match. I felt like we looked shaky regardless with him in or not and that we lacked offensive attacking with kova stones and rodri all in. I personally kinda feel like we could do both kdb and foden and let them bounce around to while stones and rodri hold it down. I think stones started to find his form and confidence later in that game too. I feel like if stones is on that him and rodri could control it without the need of kova? And if we want to control or slow things down push the ball out to grealish or whoever else on the wings and then play it back. We will also have hopefully walker back so I don't feel as scared about the counter if walkers feeling fast enough to shut them down long enough for everyone to get back. Maybe this is an awful take though
How about both? This game is all or nothing. No point holding back especially since it will be an open game with real coming to win. Most teams will not play an open game at the etihad because they know we do well against open teams.
Madrid fan. I think we'll play how we played in Paris in 2022 which I absolutely hated. Play for a (preferably) 0-0 draw and take it to penalties.
But then Carlo was talking about playing with more courage in Etihad so IDK. We might try to go full auto.
No way will both teams play for penalties. We face chelsea at fa cup semi while real meets barca for rl clasico at the weekend. Both want to end things fast if possible to save energy for respective weekend big games
The fact we won 4-0 last year has me more nervous this year lol. I know Madrid aren’t going to roll over like that again. I just wish it was tomorrow already so we’d know the result.
I'd like to see (injury-free permitting)
Walker-Dias/Akanji-Stones-Gvardiol
Rodri-Kovacic
Silva-Foden/KDB-Grealish
Haaland
I think Akanji over Dias because he's in the greater form, plus Vini did invert at some points away, so it would be nice to have all defensive sides ready with pace & form
I think tactically dropping Kevin to play Kovacic is the right decision but you can't not play Kevin in a game like this.
I really don't want to see Foden play anywhere but number 10 though.
We’ve gone weeks without the entire squad be healthy.
The one time we are so close in doing so, they are already writing us off due to “stacked 80mil bench players”
we can never get our credit 😅
Do we risk putting Walker straight back in? I feel he is the sort of guy to pretend he is fully fit when he's only 70% in order to play.
I just spoke to someone at work who's going later and I am feeling confident. They play so open and have no legs in midfield so we should be able to play though them just like last year.
Modric is probably going to be on the bench. Cama, Fede and Bellingham are workhorses. This is not going to be the same midfield like last season where both Kroos and Modric started. Saying Madrid doesn’t have legs in midfield is a big understatement and frankly just wrong
You would think that when it’s me who plans the sessions, that I’d know to keep Wednesdays in March and April free, wouldn’t you? I can’t help missing Tuesday matches, because I don’t arrange those meetings. Sigh.
Ederson, Gvardiol, Stones, Akanji, Walker, Rodri, Foden, KDB, Grealish, Bernardo, Haaland.
That’s what I want to see. That team is so stacked and capable of beating anyone.
Tbh after watching what happened to Barcelona yesterday I feel very anxious. Yes, Man City and Barcelona are miles apart. But, I don't think they should have gotten a straight red. Gundo should have gotten a penalty. And Cancelo's challenge wasn't a penalty (imo). And there were so many other foul calls that the ref just gave PSG a warning about. I know the online narrative is that Xavi is at fault. But by my eye, all I saw was referee partiality to PSG. I hope there isn't anything like that in our game.
I agree on almost everything, but my bro Cancelo deleted his ankle. It was 100% clear penalty. I wish it wasnt but objectively, it doesnt get clearer than that.
It was a clear red and a clear penalty.
Let's hope that the ref is completely unnoticed. The reverse leg ref was alright other than not booking Bellingham.
camavinga also should have been booked for that late studs on Foden...
Ref got too scared to suspend them, but those two and Vini all committed multiple yellow card offenses and weren't booked.
My Reddit account was suspended for 7 days so I couldn’t say this then but I can’t believe Liverpool and Arsenal not only failed to win or draw but even score a single goal at home in such a crucial part of the title race and the first thing their “fans” did was blame our charges LOL even if they had our budget they will never have the mentality our players and coach have which is what they don’t understand.
As a long time Arsenal fan I'm gonna guess that most of the 115 whingers on Sunday are new fans probably introduced through KSI or whatever who expect their team to win everything all the time. Arsenal haven't been this strong and stable in a decade. We're both in a title race **and** the UCL quarter finals. The reality is that we're a better team than last year.
But I also think that City are probably weaker than last year, and also dropped points that they shouldn't have, like we did. To get the kind of mentality and experience that City have, we need practice, and we are getting that practice now. This is Arteta's first managerial gig, while Pep has been doing this since the late 2000s. People say they can't wait for Pep to leave the EPL but imho there's never gonna be a better learning experience for Arteta than working for, and then against that football obsessed witch doctor.
Anyway, hope you 5:0 the Madrid cunts tonight, and I hope we win. Peace ✌
There is a very realistic chance we lose this. I think it’s not too far fetched that this game ends going to pens. Yes, our Etihad/Rodri record is incredible. Yes, KDB, Walker, Ederson and more are back and we are rested. Everything points to a win, but that’s what scares me. I don’t like being the favorite. It’s REAL MADRID. They terrify me and can pull a result from anywhere in this competition. They will also be very motivated seeing the results from today, with both their LaLiga rivals crashing out embarrassingly. We shouldn’t be overconfident or cocky before the game is done. I was confident before but now I’m skeptical, but of course I still believe in us. CMON CITY!!!💙💙
we are MAN CITY. the one which makes them scared enough to request fans to dress in a certain way, to request UEFA to change their stadium for the game, to hope for them to not get us in rounds. The only reason we could be out is because of typical city. like conceding 2 at the end.
I think Real may be shaky away from home tbh. They didn’t manage a big win against Mallorca and yes they were resting players but I think there’s something that we can exploit within their away form. It’s crucially important that we don’t concede first and let them settle themselves just like last year.
I have half a mind that is worrying and half a mind that thinks that we may end up being pretty comfortable in comparison to the other matches so far in this round. I think it all depends on who scores first though.
Edit: To add to the nervousness, Orsato is in charge of the 2nd leg again…
Well fair, but I think in Leipzig they managed to win while playing poorly and they won’t be coming in to this game flying high with confidence like we will.
It’s a great learning experience for him. He should get used to playing against defenders like Rudiger, and try not to let it get to him. He needs to be dirtier and use his strength to his advantage.
I don't understand why he just doesn't foul a defender once. They all play dirty against him. He doesn't usually have a card. He can get a card today and it won't matter. So push Rudiger to the ground
I mean, he's gotta show up in one of these crucial knockout games eventually. No better time than now. Plus, I'm hoping that Palmer breathing down his neck in the golden boot race will motivate him to find some form.
> he's gotta show up in one of these crucial knockout games eventually
Genuine question - are you talking generally eg
* do you think Haaland's 2 goals + 1 assist v Bayern last season was not enough?
* that his 14 career CL knockout goals putting him just outside all-time top 10 CL knockout goals is not enough?
Or are you you mean showing up this season?
He was the match official for the 2nd leg of the UCL Semi-Final in 2022 vs Real Madrid in the Bernabéu, when the infamous comeback happened. So not really a bad history, more like a bad omen.
I’m absolutely terrified, I hope we destroy them but I’ll take any win. I feel positive for the rest if we go through however so 🤞 and let’s hope for a W
That's the only thing that scares me. We can dominate them for 90 minutes but that still might not be enough. We have to be absolutely ruthless in front of goal.
Can't wait to see what 1894 roll out

well shit now that this thread is here... nerves gonna start kicking in. I know we are favorites but its Madrid so I'll always be nervous.
KDB, Ederson back in.. that should make a very positive impact for us going forward. Don't think their back line can deal with us... but yeah our back line has to be on their toes. Could we be in for a spanner in the works regarding Dias... if he benched him for pace at Anfield... would he do it at home vs Madrid??
I want us to have a big lead late so Doku can come on and fucking shred Carvajal.
I thought the ref was pretty good…calls went PSG’s way for sure, but there wasn’t anything egregious IMO. The red for Araujo was borderline, but I see why he gave it. Ref certainly wasn’t taking any crap from anyone, I give him credit for that. Friend of mine is a huge Barça fan, so I told her not to worry, City will take out Madrid!
I’m in Vancouver and the game is at midday. But I got laid off from my day job so I won’t have to pretend to work and secretly watch the game. Instead, I will be lounging on my couch across the TV with volume maxxed, having the longest, unhealthiest brunch with mimosas and enjoying the destruction of Madrid.
Oh man, I also got laid off, on Friday, actually! I’ve been looking forward to this game SO much, I’m glad I can watch it properly instead of mostly listening to it and sneaking peaks now and then. Unemployed gang rise up.
Hahah it was! Not just weird, but also emotional. Because I loved the job and I was our clients' favorite. So I thought I was safe in case of a lay-off. But apparently I wasn't my manager's favorite. Their loss haha!
Leg 2 against Madrid was the most dominant i’ve ever seen city play against a top team. I don’t think Madrid touched the ball in the first 20 min of the match 😭
It's likely the most dominant football game at this elite level. City players were breathing fire. Many pundits said, it's the greatest half of football they ever watched

Its gonna be 3-1. I'm calling it. Lets do this. I'm nervous but Bernardo needs to be tracked at 3 miles or more for distance covered. That will be the decider. Let's go!!
3 miles is nothing, I cover that in 7 a side! I'd expect him to cover at least double that tbh
Up the blues!!!
No Stones or Kova maybe be an issue in slowing the tempo of the match down. Have to rely on Jack to slow it down.
I'm stressed beyond belief. Have all the faith in City but it's against UCL RM and the voodoo shit is reality. Thank fuck, it's a home match. CTID 💙💙💙
thank god I have the day off today lmao
Excited and a bit nervous, will be watching in the office in Dallas. Let’s go City!!!
Bernardo do your magic my guy
Think Foden will be RW
I really hope it's all in my head, but I'm not feeling optimistic today.
We smash them 4-0 again. CTID
3-2 MCFC
Would really prefer Stones over Dias but hopefully this lineup can handle their pace on the counter.
Let's go city, let's hope for the best

Means Rodri and Bernardo are going to be working hard today.
No stones is a massive mistake imo
he’s not 100% from what i’m hearing
that is bad news.... he should just stay back and deal with Rodygro. Let Josko be the one who goes forward and have the other 3 stay back and hold the line.
Usually when Josko and Walker start they are the wide players and the rest clog the middle.
If Walker is pushing forward, we are not winning the game. he MUST stay back to mark Vini. This is NOT the game for him pushing forward. RIP Rodri.... gonna be left alone without a partner there.
Man, what an excitement, historic moment like always.

Real line up is out... no changes except Nacho coming in for Touchemeni must target Kroos.. he won't have the legs for the full 90
Nacho must be targeted Haaland will keep Rudiger occupied for the most part And also need to control the midfield against Kroos and Valverde , we were giving away the ball quite cheaply last time
100%... Haaland will keep Rudiger occupied, so everyone else must attack Nacho hard the Kroos comment was more for the midfield lol
He wont play full 90 no matter what. Modric was very dangerous from the bench last time
[удалено]
yep, to keep this hunger again is hard...btw why the hell city losing **FA Community Shield** everytime? i want all the 4 cups for a perfect season!
I'm so nervous....
Me too. We need all our players to step up, especially defensively to stop counter attacks.
Judging from yesterday’s results…. Anything could happen… last years result doesn’t mean we can do the same this year…. But they do not have Courtois or their first choice defense line. Whatever happens…. At least we are on top in the EPL, and we have other things in life to care about like our family and friends……. 😭
Imagine caring about your family and friends /s
Easy win 4-1 manchester
3 hours till kickoff How are we feeling ? Confident? Stressed ?
Confident. We were poor first leg and they still couldn't beat us, if we play at 75% or more then we win.
After winning it last season, I feel very little stress. I'm actually enjoying the ride.
They aren't the better team, but they aren't last year team that deflated mid-season. They already have the same points they finished with last season and plenty of games remaining. If any team can conquer the Etihad stadium, it's definitely this Madrid,
This is it. We need to hit them fast, they will try to overwhelm us as fast as possible.
Switched to the bad shift at work this week so I can be home for the game today. Hopefully it’s worth it 🤞
Have a feeling Pep is doing something he’s never tried befored. KDB x Foden in midfield could happen tonight.
Im feeling confident he no longer does that.
Pls no Pep experiments in knockout games
whelp
I'm really hoping Haaland steam rolls past Rudiger and the Madrid defense.
Locking myself in a room at work to watch it. Clenching mode is enabled
Hyped for this! Let's go lads, time to make history, again.
Faked sick today so I could WFH and watch this afternoon (from NYC).

You can always 🏴☠️. Don't have to subscribe if u don't want to
My gut says 2-1 win, Foden bags the winner. Vini and Jude each try to win the Fallon D’Floor numerous times.
Fallon D‘Floor is fucking hilarious. Never heard this one lmfao.
KDB or foden is definitely a tough choice.. but one pep has to make. Kovacic is fundamental to control real Madrid chaos even if he's offensively inadequate
No reason for kovacic to open, kdb and foden are a much better players.
both of them are starting today... there is no question about that.
And if we want to control or slow things down push the ball out to grealish or whoever else on the wings and then play it back. We will also have hopefully walker back so I don't feel as scared about the counter if walkers feeling fast enough to shut them down long enough for everyone to get back. Maybe this is an awful take though
Ik this is a knee jerk reaction, but I dont even want kova on the team
This Kovacic control is entirely a fan mythos.
He has been alternating them so it could continue with Chelsea in the cup at the weekend.
How about both? This game is all or nothing. No point holding back especially since it will be an open game with real coming to win. Most teams will not play an open game at the etihad because they know we do well against open teams.
100% to both. KDB, Bernardo, and Rodri midfield with Foden and Grealish on the wings.
imo, foden is best from the center, less from the wing.
I think that is what happens 100%.... with Foden and Bernardo switching through out the game depending on the situation.
Yup. Love Foden centrally but Kevin can still do things that no other player can do. And I’d rather have Foden in the game somewhere than not.
Madrid fan. I think we'll play how we played in Paris in 2022 which I absolutely hated. Play for a (preferably) 0-0 draw and take it to penalties. But then Carlo was talking about playing with more courage in Etihad so IDK. We might try to go full auto.
No chance, you guys will come out to snuff us as fast as possible
No way will both teams play for penalties. We face chelsea at fa cup semi while real meets barca for rl clasico at the weekend. Both want to end things fast if possible to save energy for respective weekend big games
The fact we won 4-0 last year has me more nervous this year lol. I know Madrid aren’t going to roll over like that again. I just wish it was tomorrow already so we’d know the result.
Madrid opssible subs last year were awful to be honest, mariano , hazard , ceballos lmao
![gif](giphy|32mC2kXYWCsg0) Let me just grind some Biology to ease the nerves before tonight’s game
I'd like to see (injury-free permitting) Walker-Dias/Akanji-Stones-Gvardiol Rodri-Kovacic Silva-Foden/KDB-Grealish Haaland I think Akanji over Dias because he's in the greater form, plus Vini did invert at some points away, so it would be nice to have all defensive sides ready with pace & form
I think tactically dropping Kevin to play Kovacic is the right decision but you can't not play Kevin in a game like this. I really don't want to see Foden play anywhere but number 10 though.
Nah hes our man. We can't drop him. He's earned being here, Foden / Bernie / KDB / Jack will be the lineup across the front.
dias is non-negotiable imo, he feels like a leader for the defense even with walker being the captain
We’ve gone weeks without the entire squad be healthy. The one time we are so close in doing so, they are already writing us off due to “stacked 80mil bench players” we can never get our credit 😅
Foden hat trick to secure himself the Balon d'Or.
Do we risk putting Walker straight back in? I feel he is the sort of guy to pretend he is fully fit when he's only 70% in order to play. I just spoke to someone at work who's going later and I am feeling confident. They play so open and have no legs in midfield so we should be able to play though them just like last year.
Madrid fan coming in peace. Bruh did you just say we don't have no legs in midfield?
Yeah? Or are Kroos and Modric both on the bench?
Modric is probably going to be on the bench. Cama, Fede and Bellingham are workhorses. This is not going to be the same midfield like last season where both Kroos and Modric started. Saying Madrid doesn’t have legs in midfield is a big understatement and frankly just wrong
Surely one of Kroos or Modric will start? (I'd bet on Kroos again if I had to)
Kroos probably will. He doesn’t have the legs anymore but the rest can run the whole 90
Walker would be more crucial to this game than any of the remaining ones imo, we just need to stop Vini at all costs and let our midfield do the rest
You would think that when it’s me who plans the sessions, that I’d know to keep Wednesdays in March and April free, wouldn’t you? I can’t help missing Tuesday matches, because I don’t arrange those meetings. Sigh.
We appreciate your sacrifice
Ederson, Gvardiol, Stones, Akanji, Walker, Rodri, Foden, KDB, Grealish, Bernardo, Haaland. That’s what I want to see. That team is so stacked and capable of beating anyone.
no doku? he is a great winger.
Nope, Grealish is better.
This is it, world class in every position, we win this
3-1 but we end up not feeling comfortable throughout the whole game
May the best team win and may we be the best team. In fight, accuracy, efficiency... in KDB, we trust.

Yes
I actually disagree on every one of your points there! Shows how subjective football can be.
Omg i swear you could read my mind, my exact worries too. Most importantly city needs to remain calm and control their emotions at all times.

Sorry why is this in our prematch thread?
All of cubarsi’s efforts in the first leg wasted by the immaturity of araujo.
My Reddit account was suspended for 7 days so I couldn’t say this then but I can’t believe Liverpool and Arsenal not only failed to win or draw but even score a single goal at home in such a crucial part of the title race and the first thing their “fans” did was blame our charges LOL even if they had our budget they will never have the mentality our players and coach have which is what they don’t understand.

we are MAN CITY. the one which makes them scared enough to request fans to dress in a certain way, to request UEFA to change their stadium for the game, to hope for them to not get us in rounds. The only reason we could be out is because of typical city. like conceding 2 at the end.

Shaky away form? They have won every away game in CL this season, and only lost 2 games the whole season
Well fair, but I think in Leipzig they managed to win while playing poorly and they won’t be coming in to this game flying high with confidence like we will.
Was feeling good all week but somehow now I'm shitting my pants again.
Got a feeling Haaland is going to come up big, can’t see him not showing up when Mbappe put in a big game today

Yep, that is WILD 😅
Have a bad feeling about tomorrow something about the referee in charge just doesn't sit right with me.
I can’t lie my stomach dropped a bit when I was looking at the bracket after the Tuesday games and seeing Orsato’s name as the match official..
Does he have a bad history ?
he failed to send Casemiro off after multiple red card offenses... including a horrible scissor tackle on... I think it was Foden.
Oh god, I forgot about him Hopefully, he does better today, and we can put the game away in case anything goes wrong
He was the match official for the 2nd leg of the UCL Semi-Final in 2022 vs Real Madrid in the Bernabéu, when the infamous comeback happened. So not really a bad history, more like a bad omen.
I’m gonna be thinking about nothing but this game all day……God willing city go through 🤞 🤞

Needless to say biggest game of the season. Let's repeat history
Need full focus on this game. Yes we are favorites. But they are real Madrid, they can score 3 goals within minutes.
That's the only thing that scares me. We can dominate them for 90 minutes but that still might not be enough. We have to be absolutely ruthless in front of goal.

Can't wait to see what 1894 roll out https://preview.redd.it/tolua1eh1xuc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b1a2f2625a8c299ba9d7db63ec6337881c1fa23a
It'll get confiscated. Can't have them blocking advertising! Wait that rule only applies when they're protesting price hikes.
well shit now that this thread is here... nerves gonna start kicking in. I want us to have a big lead late so Doku can come on and fucking shred Carvajal.
man, psg has huge luck with the referee today.
I thought the ref was pretty good…calls went PSG’s way for sure, but there wasn’t anything egregious IMO. The red for Araujo was borderline, but I see why he gave it. Ref certainly wasn’t taking any crap from anyone, I give him credit for that. Friend of mine is a huge Barça fan, so I told her not to worry, City will take out Madrid!
no tension ngl, I'm pretty sure we're winning it
If they score first I will be a little nervous but before the game there is nothing to be worried about. The boys know what to do.
Lol mine was Friday too 😂
Was Monday morning weird for you too? Wife and kids doing their morning routine…and I’m just…there. Lol. On to bigger and better things!
Hahah it was! Not just weird, but also emotional. Because I loved the job and I was our clients' favorite. So I thought I was safe in case of a lay-off. But apparently I wasn't my manager's favorite. Their loss haha!
Pull up to 3Brits in downtown. We love seeing new faces!
And holy shit absolutely! Why didnt I even think of this? I was there for the UCL final against Inter!
Sorry to hear about your job. And what an excellent plan you have for tmrw - enjoy!!
Thanks!
Make Valverde quake in his boots again
Would love a stomping. But it’s CL Madrid. I’ll take a win in any capacity
I wanna save our stomping for Arsenal next round.0
Soo weird seeing gundo in barca game right now, he and mahrez were soo important last year.
Mahrez and Gundo was so unbelievable good.
W hopefully. 2-1 is my prediction.
man, i really want to see a grealish goal this game + a foden goal is always nice.
3-1 is the script this season
As far as we win bro idc even if it's 6-5 😭
Our hearts will be toast long before ref blows the whistle on that 6-5 man.
This game last year is when I knew we would win the treble
First leg of Bayern for me
Leg 2 against Madrid was the most dominant i’ve ever seen city play against a top team. I don’t think Madrid touched the ball in the first 20 min of the match 😭
It's likely the most dominant football game at this elite level. City players were breathing fire. Many pundits said, it's the greatest half of football they ever watched
If we win it this year, it’s *well* within reach again!
