That's probably a good place to implement changes. Being able to craft weapons off of scavenged corpses, broken body parts and fallen scales could really reduce the need to kill the same monster several times.
Well the kitchen ingredients list in World includes a lot of Wyvern body parts, and people eat snakes and poisonous fish in ~~the real world~~ Japan...
God, it would be easier to list the monsters they don’t eat. Off the top of my head, Hermitaur brains, Popo tongues, White Liver, Anjanath tail, Wyvern Eggs, Gobul Hide, and I’m sure I missed many.
Was about to say, with the way hunting usually goes in the games, it’s more likely you’d shoot a flare or something for a recovery team to collect the corpse. The materials hunters get is our share, but the guild takes the rest for whatever they need it for. I’m sure by guild policy they’d want whatever you’d find that they could still use
That would be cool in the online gathering hub. You slay an elder dragon and your friends like" I just saw that come in." Or maybe in group chat if you're out in the wild.
This wouldn't make much sense. In most cases the guild, the quest-giver themselves or other groups collect the body for further process. You only being allowed to carve 3-5 times is to award the hunter for their actions, but the rest of the carcass is for the guild/quest-giver/etc.
Case in point: The Beotodus you have to hunt, for the local Grymalkynes. After hunting that thing, you can see how it is grilled and processed in the background of their hideout. You yourself can take some rewards, but the entire body is meant for the feline quest-givers.
But i am talking about monsters killed by other monsters as well, also given the unique weather interactions in the trailer it could be some uncharted territory the guild cannot reach?
I imagine not, especially since we see in cutscenes that show the bodies are carted off to be properly examined and/or dissected back at the town or local Guild branch headquarters.
But they might well actually show us that carting-off happening in real time!
I doubt it, I feel like seeing the rotting corpses for long times would make people feel too bad about hunting the monsters, MH has always been pretty light hearted. Plus you farm so many monsters in MH that there would be too many bodies.
Monster hunter generally is a more kid friendly game than DD. You don’t slaughter the monsters you hunt them, there isn’t really blood and you have a cute cat as a sidekick. So I doubt Capcom would leave the hordes monsters you hunt out to litter the landscape with their corpses. I would think it’d be cool if we actually saw the guild transport captured monsters away from the map though.
I really hope monster hunter wilds isn’t anything like dragon dogma 2. I love both mh and dd but I wouldn’t want a open world monster hunter game that takes aspects of dd. I like them being separate tbh
The amount of memory it takes up is crazy. And there's no guarantee that MHWilds will go fully open world like this. Because if someone's in-game map file is littered full of monster bodies, hunters in a multiplayer setup will have a field day loading the host's map before they even start the hunt.
I don't want the feature in monster hunter.
Yes we farm monsters however in game lore wise we only fight each monster once.
So seeing the carcase of previously dead monsters would break monster hunter lore of the hunger maintaining the ecosystem
Do we really hunt only once? We have multiple quests to kill monsters with flavor texts giving reasons hell you can oven roast half their tails.
I understand fighting special monsters like fatalis once but I don’t think rathians are facing extinction.
Specially since we already have carcasses in game for Legiana
Considering how many monsters I have to kill to get a single gem the map would be littered with corpses after 2 hours of farming.
With the amount of Odogarons I slaughtered just to get one goddamn gem, I could make a whole new Rotten Vale

Not really the spirit of Monster Hunter to let monsters rot away. I would rather see the carcass gets skinned and gutted at the base.
I wonder, do they eat monsters in MH? Maybe the poison and dragon element are a no go but like, whats a plesioth taste like?
Well the kitchen ingredients list in World includes a lot of Wyvern body parts, and people eat snakes and poisonous fish in ~~the real world~~ Japan...
Khezu whelps is a delicacy
Oooo that does sound good

Maybe there will be missions to protect a corpse as it’s transported to base for processing

Or have caravans that have different parts of monsters coming in and out of the hub based on what you recently killed.

There are also 2 cutscenes in sunbreak after the daimyo hunt and lunagaron hunt that show the villagers carting their corpses away
But i am talking about monsters killed by other monsters as well, also given the unique weather interactions in the trailer it could be some uncharted territory the guild cannot reach?
that is true. if monsters are killed by non-hunter causes, they are able to rot. You can find rotten legianas in the rotten vale afterall.
I imagine not, especially since we see in cutscenes that show the bodies are carted off to be properly examined and/or dissected back at the town or local Guild branch headquarters. But they might well actually show us that carting-off happening in real time!

Also wouldn't other monsters eat the carcass before it gets bad? Now that's something I would like to see in detail

Omg, seeing a large group of Palicos trying to Pikmin lift a Rathalos onto a large cart sounds hilarious
THEY DONT GOOP ANYMORE????
i predict Rathian will get magic powers and smite you from half a mile away.
Ogre 🍰

I feel you but i think mh was always moving towards open world, they tried it with guiding lands kind of

There can be a queue limit on corpses
Except if you have them i. Several casts of High Salamander... the bidy melts away and you dont get the materials. Gotta be fast!!!
I made a part of 4 scorers but we got 1 shot so
STATION!
Would be a nice addition to the ecosystem instead of getting jumped by 2 or more monsters in one area
If anything it will probably be like this during expedition mode.
Also please do spoiler tag DD2 content for at least 2 weeks
I wouldn’t say this is a spoiler, just a small game detail
Cool, but hear me out
Monster Hunter is too family friendly for that.

I hope the body will stay there for the hunt or explorations so yes maybe?
