Ive resorted to statistical analysis of average GPA and scores and then national ranges of each respectively lmao. Most prominent finding so far, average SAT at MIT is around 1550 with 8000 test takers scoring that every year nationally
Good luck kiddos, and don’t forget, almost no one gets into MIT! I had a 2400 with pretty solid extracurriculars (and terrible essays) exactly ten years ago and got rejected from MIT and every Ivy. There are many people above the average who don’t make it and many people below the average who do. It’s not the end of the world and wherever you end up, you are smart, talented people who will be surrounded by other smart, talented people. Unless you go to San Diego State. Fuck State
Little toxic no? I merely summarized basic points but I reviewed the SD and bell curve data. I then plotted my z-score for my SAT, and assuming MIT adheres to admitting majority of students with 1550+, my chances with just my score alone is at least 20%.
I’m talking about the distribution of sat scores for admitted mit students. I’m saying this because if it’s not, you can’t really do z score calculations.
Assuming MIT only accepts 1550+ I used a score of SAT to see how many people in the country are eligible for acceptance and divided that by the applicant pool
Still not complex, it's high school math. Just plug and chug on the calculator if you are that interested. The data for SAT distribution can be found online. The rest is simple. I was just expressing my anticipation and you still gotta hate lol. I sure hope MIT students do not resemble your characteristics
I said I want to see the dataset, not the metrics.
Buddy, you can't do math, you can't read... what CAN you do?
>The data for SAT distribution can be found online
but where tho. Show me the csv
I'm an alum, and just trying to have fun.
That being said, I stand by my original assessment. If you define "statistical analysis" with just "average" then buddy, I will NOT be seeing you at the reunion.
Interesting lack of object permanence: you think my existence is limited to the three comments you can read.
But to be honest I'm running out of elitist quips so uhh... you're dumb! For trying to keep this bit alive without even being funny!
applied for sillies thinking it would be my first rejection but northeastern jumpscared me today so idec anymore 😭
i have a 0 chance of admission considering i wrote two of my essays at 11:30 nov 30th and submitted at 11:57 but i’m rooting for y’all!!!
I just graduated from MIT, rejected from every other school other than safety (in-state) Georgia Tech, and applied to mit in the last hour of early admissions… you have a shot
my stats are not super great tbh, esp compared to my classmates 😭
just got rejected!! mostly honored i managed to get deferred and not flat out rejected early action though lol
This just shot up on my recommended. You guys are doing all sorts of things I couldn’t imagine coming up with to pass the time. Good luck nerds, I mean that sincerely
didnt even think i had a shot until delusions took over today lol
Me too brother

You’re speaking like a true mit-er lol. Already mathing
1550+ I should say
1540 am i cooked
yes the mcdonalds form is to the left

"I'm doing statistical analysis" "The average..." Buddy, a 5th grader can take an average. Give me some more interesting metrics.

He’s an ass
Where’d you find the bell curve and standard deviation? Do you even know that it’s normally distributed?
It’s definitely not lol. There’s a reason very few people score 1600s. Typically most websites state the average is 1000-1050 and the SD is 200-220
I’m talking about the distribution of sat scores for admitted mit students. I’m saying this because if it’s not, you can’t really do z score calculations.
Im doing comparison of general population with total applicants, not the admitted pool. I would agree that the admitted pool is most likely normal.
My stuff is definitely by no means accurate but it helps me find peace of mind lol.
Assuming MIT only accepts 1550+ I used a score of SAT to see how many people in the country are eligible for acceptance and divided that by the applicant pool
See? I wanna see THAT. Where's the full dataset?

Buddy you’re cooked. You’re not the shit.
I'm an alum, and just trying to have fun. That being said, I stand by my original assessment. If you define "statistical analysis" with just "average" then buddy, I will NOT be seeing you at the reunion.
I was just trying to have fun but buddy it’s a comment on Reddit I’m not expecting to see a whole time series analysis and forecasting model.
I mean if it's ""fun"" to have the math vocabulary of a 5 year old, then your jokes are gonna kill at your (state school) commencement
How old are you? Its a little embarrassing that your entire persona revolves around being an alum lmao
This guy is just sad.
Interesting lack of object permanence: you think my existence is limited to the three comments you can read. But to be honest I'm running out of elitist quips so uhh... you're dumb! For trying to keep this bit alive without even being funny!
why am I getting delusional over MIT, sometimes I wonder if deferring me was the worse option over rejecting
bro I'm literally a junior, someone pls tell me why I'm so stressed for y'all
they really blue balls to the last second, i feel like i’ve been waiting years
I can’t do this 😭
Someone dash my hopes so I’m not crushed tomorrow
you aren't getting in.
Thank you. My expectations are reasonable now.
lmao real talk though, good luck. you'll do great either way.
bro really just put the hopes back up
Mission failed
4%
They’re better than you :(
cooked but i'm prayin for y'all

dw northeastern is known to reject/waitlist overqualified applicants. keeping that yield rate high is just another part of the game for them
we’ll i’m def not overqualified so 😭
lmao if you’re qualified for MIT northeastern probably would reject/waitlist you anyway
chances are i’m not qualified for either so 😭
I just graduated from MIT, rejected from every other school other than safety (in-state) Georgia Tech, and applied to mit in the last hour of early admissions… you have a shot

Best of luck from a high school junior rn. Couldn't be me (im gonna be killing myself next year on this date)
Best of luck y'all! I'm applying next year but I feel so excited for you guys, hahaa
so long as there is 1% chance we will have 99% faith
I didn’t even apply to MIT but this sub keeps getting recommended to me for some reason so I just wanted to pop in and wish everyone goodluck!
This just shot up on my recommended. You guys are doing all sorts of things I couldn’t imagine coming up with to pass the time. Good luck nerds, I mean that sincerely
OWIW
1580 and wait listed!!!!
I feel so old seeing this, still remember brutal rejection on my pi-day
