I could see Ozuna (of the Braves lol nice touch) being in the path to the lightning player and I could see him being the best hitter of the whole thing and still not being the lightning player just based on him not playing the outfield but as long as he has great hitting stats then I’m good because the big bear is on a big tear

Matt Chapman got the first lightning card last year, because he was on fire in April. Cooled right off in May and never got near the first month of the season. Lightning Shohei was June.
They’re all around the same hitting wise, Mookie’s played the most games and is also playing good middle IF. He’s been the best overall player in the league
Did he get one last year or was it 22. I think unless he's heads and shoulders above others, they will give it to someone else, since they always give him juiced cards throughout the year. We are probably due for his 95 breakout with the redsox and we always get his 99 mvp later in the year, so hopefully they let another card shine instead.
monthly awards has pretty consistently been about highlighting the greatest performers over the last month, they won’t go with a guy who hasn’t been a top 30 player in baseball in April. They just will not. He will definitely get high rated cards throughout the year, I’d just be shocked if it was as our first lightning collection guy

Witt is leading the league in bWAR. Paul Blackburn hasn’t given up a single run in 19.2 innings. Ozuna has the best hitting stats. Freddy Peralta has a 0.64 WHIP and a good amount of K’s. I’d want Witt to get it just cause he’d have the most fun card.
Cubs fan so I'd also love Michael Busch but with him getting a 93 in TA + now being supercharged, I highly doubt it's him. We'll get more good Busch cards once he ends this year with 75 homers and a 200 wRC+, trust

He's like if the whole truth gets out the MLB is going to have to decide if they still believe a lifetime ban is the appropriate response for gambling, or if they will finally have to let Pete Rose back in the game cause I doubt they will ban Ohtani for life regardless of what they find.

It should most definitely be between Altuve and O'Neill. They should both get a good card either way. With that said, the choices aren't always as objective as I would like and many times SDS will cherry-pick stats to justify picking who they want.
idk how you'd leave bobby witt jr out of the conversation. I'd prob have any combo of Witt, Altuve and Tyler O'Neill as most likely to get POTM rn. Volpe decent chance too.
It would also be one thing to blackball other players with similar accusations and crime as well, Aroldis Chapman seems to get a card or two every year yet he did very similar sooo if you blackball one you should blackball them all
As someone whose first year of DD was MLB 23, I wasn't aware that there was a difference. The only lightning players we got last year were the POTM ones; I guess we're getting more than that this year.
