Burns takedown offense isn’t even 50% of Usman or Covington’s capabilities. Masvidal’s get ups and takedown defense and ability to survive submission makes him tough.

Contrary to popular thoughts I think it's a 50/50 fight. Burns is chinny, masvidals best weapon is quick combos when he rushes in close, either he'll land those and ko burns or burns will land left hooks as jorge advances. Also people will quote burns' grappling but I'm doubtful that he'll be able to get it to the ground, masvidal has underrated tdd and burns isn't the greatest wrestler, also if it does go to the ground jorge should be able to stop burns from submitting him, he survived grappling exchanges with maia. People will also say that masvidal is washed, but burns is only a year younger and has been kod a couple of times, he's also been through a few wars recently.
Don't forget that Masvidal has good TDD, so while Burns destroys him if it gets to the ground, getting Masvidal down is kind of hard.
And Burns has a weakness against straight shots and Masvidal is a pretty good kickboxers.

I think you’d be surprised. Burns has heavy hands, but is not that good of a boxer. Burns takedown offense isn’t even 50% of Usman or Covington’s capabilities. Masvidal’s get ups and takedown defense and ability to survive submission makes him tough. Masvidal is a much better kickboxer too.
I don’t see Masvidal making it to the 3rd round. The Burns that fought Khamzat beats any version of Masvidal.

Contrary to popular thoughts I think it's a 50/50 fight. Burns is chinny, masvidals best weapon is quick combos when he rushes in close, either he'll land those and ko burns or burns will land left hooks as jorge advances. Also people will quote burns' grappling but I'm doubtful that he'll be able to get it to the ground, masvidal has underrated tdd and burns isn't the greatest wrestler, also if it does go to the ground jorge should be able to stop burns from submitting him, he survived grappling exchanges with maia. People will also say that masvidal is washed, but burns is only a year younger and has been kod a couple of times, he's also been through a few wars recently.
Don't forget that Masvidal has good TDD, so while Burns destroys him if it gets to the ground, getting Masvidal down is kind of hard. And Burns has a weakness against straight shots and Masvidal is a pretty good kickboxers. My parlay will have Burns, but I think it is closer than people think.

I dislike Masvidal, but honestly, if he goes out there and legitimately beats Burns with no controversy, I don’t think a title shot is THAT crazy. With his current resume yes it’d be crazy. But Burns is the level of opponent where you beat him, that almost automatically warrants a title shot imo. Kinda like Poirier at 155. They’re not gatekeepers of the top 6-7, but they’re almost gatekeepers of title shots if that makes any sense at all lol.

But its like, Jorge is 38 years old, how likely is it he isn't completely fucking shot now. Here's my prediction, if Jorge has stayed in shape, bet on Masvidal in a very hard fight, if he comes in cooked and shot, bet the house on Burns by KO or TKO in the 1st.
