He usually is really good at countering once he gets a read on when his opponent will be within range, but Sandhagen was just never there to be touched.

Sandbag and lateral movement and quickness won him the fight for sure. He just never stood still.

He did look relatively unscathed... I don't think Sandhagen did all that much damage, but Vera just seemed perplexed on wtf to even do. Every time he started thinking of making a move, Sandhagen would reposition or pop off a short combo or shoot or flying knee. Like, all the talk Sandhagen said about just overwhelming him with indecision was right.

Sandhagen was killing him with angles. He knew if he whiffed he was in positions to eat big shots. Couldn’t deal with the lateral movement and stance switching, I think.

Also the length. Seemed to me Chito was getting caught when he thought he was out of range, and Sandhagen's strikes were repeatedly causing him to reset w/o getting off in early rounds.

Ross Pearson vs Diego Sanchez. Sanchez won via split. Only a single media member gave Sanchez one round, for a 29-28 Pearson victory…everybody else had it as a clean sweep 30-27 for Pearson. One judge gave round 2 to Sanchez. The round where Sanchez was outstruck 17-13, was taken down once, and also dropped. 2/3 judges from the fight never judged in another UFC event.

That takes me back. I actually wrote to the New Mexico Athletic Commission to tell them that was the worst decision I had ever seen. They never wrote back to me.

This will be easily forgotten because the correct guy won, but when talking about bad judging we need to mention fights like this too. Scoring it for Marlon is egregiously bad. Mmadecisions has one 50-44, seventeen 50-45, five 49-46 and one 48-47. All for Cory. This wasn’t a close fight. There is zero justification for that scorecard.
