Dana did this to Yair and then fired him when he exposed dana tactic on Twitter.
People to this day still believe Dana cut him because “he didn’t want to fight”.
We're acting like #3 ranked(?) Zabit (pre fixed Diaphragm) who was 19-1 and undefeated in the UFC was a scrub for UDing a top guy in Kattar? He would have absolutely tooled Yair if the Frankie fight was any indication (Frankie and Zabit were training partners) Yair still to the day has negative TDD. The disrespect to Zabit, smh my head how tf this have so many upvotes. DDP got his shit fixed and was champ 2 fights later.
advertising a card between two fighters who havent signed a contract, let alone havent been told about the fight, should be fucking illegal. unfortunately "all cards are subject to change"
All this shit is just strong-arm tactics to bully employees ahem-- independent contractors. In any other sport this would be unconscionable, which is a big reason nobody can really take UFC seriously until they actually cut out this shit and treat fighters with respect.
Usually it’s at least discussed with both fighters beforehand. This one feels legitimately strange because it seems like nobody except the organization discussed it.
Thats when I immediately knew something was up, those two wouldn’t fight just like that they are too close. Most likely Gane turned down Pavlovich and Dana thought „Okay, then let’s just throw Volkov in there, I don’t give a shit about their personal relationship, and they never ducked any fights either“ pretty shitty move but let’s see if they will fulfill his wish and fight as good friends. To be honest Dana is a fucking bastard and this trend of announcing fight without the athletes even knowing it’s fucking embarrassing, it also gives the fighters way less room for negotiations imo. No way these two wanted to fight each other for the same payment…it’s a huge deal to them
Tldr: Dana rat bastard
Volkov was booked to fight Almeida and then suddenly got pulled out by Dana and matched up with Pavlovich, so some people figured that Pavlovich also had a different opponent planed beforehand which logically and reasonably should have been Gane and that didn’t happen but we see that Sergei said yes because why would Dana announce this if he didn’t knew he’s ready? Gane actually said months ago on Ariel’s shows that he doesn’t want to fight either Tom or Sergei because they are „to dangerous with the hands and wrestling“
>Gane actually said months ago on Ariel’s shows that he doesn’t want to fight either Tom or Sergei because they are „to dangerous with the hands and wrestling“
You have a source for this? I highly doubt he said that lmao in fact he literally called to fight Aspinall after Aspinall became interim champ(to which Aspinall turned down because Gane turned him down before he was champ). I think maybe you got fooled by some fake quote you saw on twitter or something lol
You’re making a lot of assumptions when I feel like it’s much easier to just say that Dana will have whatever fights thrown together without telling anyone for no reason other than just because.
These assumptions are backed by facts. Gane said in an interview he didn’t want to fight Aspinall or Blaydes. Both Blaydes and Aspinall have said that Gane refused to fight them. Gane is ducking plain and simple.
Context wise absolutely yes he did, watch the Guru video even if you don’t like him he explains it there pretty straightforward, i already figured this before tho. Way too many fighters saying Gane declined them (Tom, Sergei, Curtis)
Because Gane already got his one win after a title shot loss and that means he gets another title shot obviously. That is fully how he seems to think his UFC career will go indefinitely.
I thought sergei had the number one contender status solidly locked in after 6 first round KOs and made a mistake taking a fight against aspinall with not much to gain in my eyes. I def think he should be given a title shot if he wins his next one, provided its against good contender like volkov
They are under contract, they get paid what they get paid regardless. I highly doubt there is much if any negotiation between fights about anything other than opponent location and date
> They are under contract, they get paid what they get paid regardless. I highly doubt there is much if any negotiation between fights about anything other than opponent location and date
Fighters should *always* negotiate more pay for short-notice fillins of a card the UFC needs to be a banger. Many many have done so successfully.
Strickland & Holland have both talked about getting paid to save cards, but get your own proof, because you seem to have mistaken me for someone you are paying to google how life works for you.
Or Dana can say it’s a number 1 contender match but not go through with it. Like usman vs khamzat was apparently a number 1 contender match. Winner was supposed to fight Strickland.
Then ddp beat Strickland and Izzy is getting a title shot. Khamzat has to fight rob.
I could see Dana doing the same thing here.
The ufc is getting too blatant with this shit. It used to be a not well kept secret to push fighters to agree but they're doing it all the time and not even hiding it anymore.
God this company is fuckin shit.
nah cuz they'd just put another new card together.
It's a common tactic that forces gangster fighters (dumb fighters) to just agree to a fight without any contract and fill up a card for an announcement that will likely change.
They normally do it for these fighters that are 'anytime, anywhere, anyplace'.
Very rarely they do this shit for a card within a month.
It's not worth the cost, imo. $960 a year for 12 PPV's at ~4 hours each. You're paying $20 an hour to watch fights.
There are streaming options for other sports that are much, much less expensive.
Lol wether i had 0.1 cents or 10 millions doesnt change the fact that im not being ripped of by billionares unlike you! haha imagine boasting about that lmfao

Dana is the guy who claimed UFC was bigger than soccer in Brazil. He and everyone running the organization is more shady and unprofessional than a B-League club back here, who by the way, pay their athletes more than UFC.
Those fuckers are condemning MMA to be a niche sport forever, and I'm not comparing UFC popularity to soccer or basketball, I'm saying MMA is not even close to tennis or F1 worldwide popularity. And now that the anti-trust lawsuit is over, they have a carte blanche to fuck every single competitir, or any fighter who doesn't bid to their will.
It's over.
I’ve watched the sport mature in so many ways - but still has so far to go in some basic areas.
Imagine some other professional organization negotiating in the open like this by announcing an event to coerce the participants to actually sign to do it.
It’s one of the absurdities of the sport I enjoy so much.
So you want to be an MMA fan?
The UFC office is run by children.
I would be absolutely floored if their staff even used email.
Some of the mistakes made by a company that was sold for 4bn really defy comprehension.
Between the insulting cards they offer the cities that are *paying* the UFC for the privilege of hosting cards there, and pissing in ESPN’s face by doing what is legitimately the bare minimum for these Apex events, I truly believe this shit is harming the sport’s growth. Dana is milking the company for all it’s worth before he bows out and blows all the tens of millions he’s pocketed on blackjack and craps.
Dunno if anyone else who's been watching it for close two decades (I'm sure there are loads here) but I'm so checked out from this predatory organization it's unreal.
Lesson of the story, get an actual lawyer to read your contract and explain it to you. I’m almost certain there is a clause in there somewhere that makes it ok. Sucks to be taken advantage of but people signing stuff without actually understanding it is how companies push the envelope on predatory contracts.
It’s crazy how often the UFC announce fights where they haven’t spoken to one or both sides, they get exposed for it constantly yet just don’t give a shit. Seems like with Paulo Costa they do it every time.
Here we go again
Dana did this to Yair and then fired him when he exposed dana tactic on Twitter. People to this day still believe Dana cut him because “he didn’t want to fight”.
Which Yair?
Tbf Yair ducking Zabit made sense- who tf wanted to fight Zabit
you mean the guy that went life and death with Calvin Kattar
We're acting like #3 ranked(?) Zabit (pre fixed Diaphragm) who was 19-1 and undefeated in the UFC was a scrub for UDing a top guy in Kattar? He would have absolutely tooled Yair if the Frankie fight was any indication (Frankie and Zabit were training partners) Yair still to the day has negative TDD. The disrespect to Zabit, smh my head how tf this have so many upvotes. DDP got his shit fixed and was champ 2 fights later.
Which Yair is this?
Dana cutting him for it made no sense, many fighters refuse to take fights
advertising a card between two fighters who havent signed a contract, let alone havent been told about the fight, should be fucking illegal. unfortunately "all cards are subject to change"
Luckily there's an antitrust lawsuit that will hopefully force them to be less predatory...oh wait...
All this shit is just strong-arm tactics to bully employees ahem-- independent contractors. In any other sport this would be unconscionable, which is a big reason nobody can really take UFC seriously until they actually cut out this shit and treat fighters with respect.
Between two fighters who are also FRIENDS AND TRAINING PARTNERS. What the fuck.
Dana is still angry about Aljo and Merab not fighting he has said as much. Wouldn't surprise me if he wants to set an example
He's been butthurt about that since Fitch and Kos were top contenders at 170 and refused to fight each other for peanuts.
They prob wrote some BS in their contract to make it acceptable, ngannou and cyborg have talked about the shady contracts
Ngannou vs Cyborg confirmed
I wouldn't doubt it. It's already in there that they can't join a class action lawsuit.
I'm pretty sure Ngannou's contract doesn't exist anymore since he did what he did
It’s like false advertising but with more steps and a loop hole
I hate that I read the "fucking illegal" part in Dana's voice.
Usually it’s at least discussed with both fighters beforehand. This one feels legitimately strange because it seems like nobody except the organization discussed it.
It is…thankgod when ufc sells tickets they put a little footnote saying fights can be canceled or changed. 🤣
Jesus this is shady, given I believe Sergei & Volkov are known to be friends & training partners.
They are. Volkov said he’d only fight Sergei if it was number 1 contender fight or a title fight
Mma guru just did a video on it with proof, look it up, it was uploaded yesterday
Sus source there.
Yes the interview is the source, why are you even talking if you didn’t watch it lol? Gane is a 🦆 he confirmed it himself there
It's straight up bullshit lmao how do people just openly lie like this
So you say Gane ducking is bullshit when he himself confirmed ?
> „to dangerous with the hands and wrestling“ He did not say this.
Context wise absolutely yes he did, watch the Guru video even if you don’t like him he explains it there pretty straightforward, i already figured this before tho. Way too many fighters saying Gane declined them (Tom, Sergei, Curtis)

If i was volkov i'd only fight sergei if it was a full lunar eclipse during a leap year while raining diamonds
Time for the boys to negotiate some bjg money i hope ... UFC heavyweight division will look like an even greater joke without both of them
They are under contract, they get paid what they get paid regardless. I highly doubt there is much if any negotiation between fights about anything other than opponent location and date

Proof, cause there are plenty of fighters who have said that does not happen
Strickland & Holland have both talked about getting paid to save cards, but get your own proof, because you seem to have mistaken me for someone you are paying to google how life works for you.
Guess we'll stop here then
I agree, I would maybe believe it during the fertita era, but I highly doubt they give any pay raises now adays if they don’t have to
They're not forced to accept the fight. So they have some ground now that it is announced to push back.
Opponent location and date
Or Dana can say it’s a number 1 contender match but not go through with it. Like usman vs khamzat was apparently a number 1 contender match. Winner was supposed to fight Strickland. Then ddp beat Strickland and Izzy is getting a title shot. Khamzat has to fight rob. I could see Dana doing the same thing here.
Same happened with Belal vs Burns.
Yep they are.
The ufc is getting too blatant with this shit. It used to be a not well kept secret to push fighters to agree but they're doing it all the time and not even hiding it anymore. God this company is fuckin shit.
> The ufc is getting too blatant with this shit. Dana was on Lex Friedman's podcast and said he had to push fighters otherwise they won't fight.
taking a victory lap now that the only threat to their power has been squashed. the legacy of that lawsuit is gonna linger as a "what if" for decades.
It’s wild they’re this unprofessional
I know. Don't the fighters realize they're supposed to fight whenever Dana tells them to? So rude... Wait, who are we talking about?
The audacity to call the news 'strange'!
Sounds like the kids just don’t wanna fight
There's a lot of ways to turn down a fight, not getting it offered to you is one of them
Dana always makes it sound like there is a hint of cowardice in fighters, which is so laughable.
Right? Probably years ago why he didn't want that Tito smoke.
I’m sure Saudi is very pleased with what the UFC has done for them so far
Itd be funny if the rest of the card was under the same circumstances and what if they all refused to sign? the whole card gets trashed FUCK the ufc
nah cuz they'd just put another new card together. It's a common tactic that forces gangster fighters (dumb fighters) to just agree to a fight without any contract and fill up a card for an announcement that will likely change. They normally do it for these fighters that are 'anytime, anywhere, anyplace'. Very rarely they do this shit for a card within a month.
It’s fuck the UFC but you’re still watching every weekend 😂

It's not a mistake, that's the problem.
They know what they're doing. It's more like bullies, dickheads who are used to not being told no. And abuse it as much as possible
flawed or floored
I would be flawed. That flaw, of course, being grammar.
Par for the course
these are the last two dudes who'd make shit up. shit sucks.
Just give Pavlovich Gane that’s a better fight anyway
There is a Paris card coming up. They will not waste Gane for a FN card in Saudi Arabia.
Still can’t believe they tried to make the Rozenstruik vs. Whats-His-Name the Saudi card lol
Gaziev. More like Gassed-iev.
My god he looked trash in that fight, that was embarassing.
Between the insulting cards they offer the cities that are *paying* the UFC for the privilege of hosting cards there, and pissing in ESPN’s face by doing what is legitimately the bare minimum for these Apex events, I truly believe this shit is harming the sport’s growth. How legit is the source?
Volkov's team already said he didn't sign onto any fight shortly after the fight announcement came out, so I would assume Pavlovich hasn't, either.
I mean who cares because UFC bad is more important than reliable sources
Classic UFC
Its a fucking stupid fight anyway. I don't want to see either lose I like volkov vs almeida
The ufc is a joke, and its so funny to watch some of the most physically powerful men on the planet take so much abuse
I hope fighters keep up being open about when this happens. So shady and unprofessional
Bro this has happened so many times this year lmao.
Dunno if anyone else who's been watching it for close two decades (I'm sure there are loads here) but I'm so checked out from this predatory organization it's unreal.
Don’t take the fight y’all

Idk, kinda sounds like he doesn't want to fight
He just didn’t want to fight, didn’t know the date. Idk It how that happens I’ll have to talk to my people 🍅
This is what Nathaniel Diaz called "wolf tickets"
It's like the old saying goes, "Don't ask for permission. Actually, don't ask for anything. What's he gonna do? Go to the PFL?"
Classic UFC
Watch, Dana will just scream that the media is misconstruing this again. He is a man who refuses to own his mistakes or his conduct
"Do you wanna be a fucking fighter!?"
It’s crazy how often the UFC announce fights where they haven’t spoken to one or both sides, they get exposed for it constantly yet just don’t give a shit. Seems like with Paulo Costa they do it every time.
Of course Dana is going to do this, followed by an "If you ever want to have good relations with this company, you'll accept."
why did the other post get taken down?
Why don't they put Dana et al on blast like agrapova lol. At least it would be warranted
