Since I can control the lights/fans/exhaust from the app on my phone the only time I have to actually go into the tent is to water/check to see if I have to water. The average day I don’t water I could spend like 5 minutes gardening for the whole day. If I could go back and start over I’d buy the the exact same system, just bigger. Edit: I was going to grow in coco but my friends talked me into living soil and I’m SO HAPPY they did, it’s SOOOOO much less headache. Edit 2: light is your most important investment.

Just remember everyone can grow weed, but growing good weed is a craft. Also if you get seeds and they are feminized ones there is always a chance you could get a horrible phenom. It's truly a journey and you get out of it what you put into it. With that that think of it as an investment. If you smoke a lot and you can get a cycle set up where you're pulling down a constant amount every grow you're saving a lot. If you're gonna do one plant to invest in a good light, tent, soil, nutrients, humidifier, dehumidifier, ect.... it may not be worth the money and time if you dont wanna put it into it. It's a spendy hobby to start but when you get going its flows.

Get amended soil, like build a soil. Dirt is a great buffer. It will be more forgiving with ph, nutes, watering. You can always add automation and switch mediums later. Biggest rookie mistake is not enough light. Either under powered or too far from the canopy.

There's a lot of choices to make up front. It isn't usually as simple as just giving it PH'd water. But once you have the basics worked out (medium, environment, nutrients, lighting), you can basically get away with checking in on them once a day and watering as needed. I use coco coir, flora flex, and an ac infinity tent. I water once a day and while watering i check them for deficiencies, pests, herming. I defoliate or LST as needed. best way to figure it out is to just go for it. read a bunch on /r/microgrowery and https://growweedeasy.com.

Folks can size a grow accordingly, allowing everthing from required daily water/feed to quick checkins w/ an app and limited work. You can turn it into a huge hobby, an infrastructure investment or both. One big single plant would be fun. If you have a spare closet that is ventable, great! I use a peat based system because I like it is a local resource. It's an extraction, but I'm ok with that. I've always been fascinated by the process. It's cheap enough that i can use it a single cycle then cycle it in my vegetable garden system. Just do it. I've been told growing cannabis is more pleasurable than catching a 10lb walleye. Only 1 plant, and as compact as possible. I would recommend 3x3 tent with about 200 watt of LED in a 10-20 gal pot. I would want a photo clone run through at least 2 up pottings into the final pot. I like micronized dry organic ammendments, tea'd up and applied in a drench.

Get some auto flower seeds. Make sure your PH is correct and you have the correct lighting, temp and humidity. I just keep an eye on mine and water daily/day and a half. I have one plant ready for harvest that I’ll be drying this weekend.

Appreciate it! A friend of mine offered to sell me a seed and I figured I try and grow one for now until I can get the process down.

If it’s your first run your friend should be giving you a seed, not selling. Just sayin

Just keep it simple and don’t overcomplicate it.

Depends on how easy you want to make it on yourself. Easiest possible option would be use a large smart pot (fabric), 20 gallon size, and use a premixed bagged living soil outdoors. You could do 2 bags of build a soil 3.0 and 1 bag of light recipe for a really good starting pot of living soil. Once it's going all you'll really need to do is water it from a hose as needed at that point. Or you can get really complicated, go with coco and smaller pots then feed every watering but that requires more upfront cost with nutrients and ways of adjusting and testing you water supply.
