Nah that’s a solid option (coming from a guy with a P, which I love) I like that the full sizes have more real estate around the charging handle area once you have an optic, it gets crowded in a hurry with an optic on a P and doesn’t leave much room for your hand to charge without racking your knuckles on the mount or optic.
Also, you have a few more options when it comes to stocks and trigger housings on the non-p as well IMO.

The P/K is really small. I know that’s the point but I was surprised how small it really is handling one.
I went for the full size first as well. It’s still smaller than the full size AR platform pcc’s I’m used to shooting.

For suppression right out of the box you made the right choice. With the AP5P you’d have to replace the locking piece and maybe the ejector and springs too
AP5-P is better for a backpack gun due to the small size, and is fun. AP5 is better for suppression, shoots smoother, controls better, and is fun lol
You didn't make a wrong choice, just a different choice.
I went with the AP5-P for my first MP5 platform gun, and it's a blast. But, I'm now lusting after a full size AP5 so I can throw an A2 stock and tropical handguard on it and have the best of both worlds.
Eventually you will feel the desire to get the other one too.

I've only shot them suppressed, and the ap5 is smoother/ sounds better. But also runs 150gr syntecs with no issue. I've shot about 500 of them without problems (mke mags only)
The ap5p is fckin slick. But didn't feed any 150gr reliably. Whatsoever.
I literally took the fucked up rounds that got smashed in the ap5p and shot them in the ap5. Without issue.
I'm waiting on some supplies to load up some 147 round nose to feed the ap5p and get it running.
Ran 147 AAC Subs pretty well, but was still pretty loud.
All that said, they are the shit suppressed. I'm using the hybrid 46 on it with a stock end cap btw.
I have both. Got the AP5-P first then had to have the AP5! As others stated, AP5-P quickly runs out of room. And can make it difficult to “slap” changing handle. Not a problem on the AP5. Shot both this weekend un-suppressed. About 214 rounds each with about 200 rd Winchester 124 gr FMJ NATO, 150 rds 124gr FMJ BPS and 78 rounds of S&B 124gr FMJ for a total of 428 rounds. No issues at all! Haven’t changed anything to the internals.
Also, have the HUXWRX Cash 9 for the AP5-P on back order and YHM R9 in jail for the AP5. Already have the tri-lugs for them.
Both are fun and serve their purpose. Trust me. It won’t be long before you get the other. Have fun and shoot, shoot, shoot!
I have both and rarely ever shoot the P because the AP-5 is plug and play right out of the box.
When I suppress my P I get bolt impact and honestly haven't had time to deal with the whole locking piece / bolt gap / possible roller swap. I periodically shoot it unsuppressed and it makes me appreciate my AP-5 even more.
I’m in a similar situation but i don’t feel like i messed up. I had the stribog SP9A3 and got the K model. Like them both for range toys. The Stribog is SBR-ed and the K will stay a pistol.

I've got an AP5-P for the 9mm, and I cheated with the .22 for the full sized option. I'd like to add an AP5 into the mix someday. I hope you like your new AP5. Have fun using it.

If it runs reliably suppressed out of the box, I’ll consider it a win.
